Clean and fun

It was a beautiful campground. The site we were on was not ideal. As soon as we stepped out the door we had to go up an incline to get to our picnic table. Our camper was pretty level and most of the other sites looked much better than ours, but that is what we get for booking late. The sites were…

Kid friendly

We loved Sharon Johnson. Really good camp for littles and good spot for first time campers. Camp host was awesome. We will go back.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

We made a last minute decision to visit Monte Sano when a site became available for Memorial Day weekend. The campground is fantastic! The sites are shaded, well spaced, and easy to navigate. The park has tons of hiking options and even a disc golf course! We will definitely be back.

Nice weekend trip

I took my 6 and 8 year old girls, tent camped 2 nights. We had a great trip. This is a great place for kids to hike/climb/ explore. My kids are accustomed to 6+ hrs in the heat everyday, so it wasn’t an issue. Nice and cool/breezy at night this time of year. The park has a close bathhouse with…

Great older campground

Great older campground with lots of options. Cabin, RV, tent. Hiking galore. This old campground atop Mont Sano has something for everyone.

Small park, but well kept

Made a weekend trip to Rickwood Caverns and it was nice. There’s not much going on other than the cavern tour which is pretty good. It’s about an hour and a half start to finish with a fair amount of walking. They give a small discount to campers but it was still $47 for a family of 4 (12 and up…

Great family campground

I’m a Huntsville native and have camped here more times than I can count. Over the years they have made great updates. Facilities are always clean, you’re never far from a bath house, the roads are good, and it’s beautiful. I’m a tent camper but appreciate having water and electric hook up sites…

Great hiking & nice camping

We stayed here in our 5th wheel for five nights but had to move twice as we couldn't book a spot for the entire weekend. (And a bit annoyingly they charge a separate reservation fee for each "reservation" but oh well.) We stayed on sites 4, 25 and 31.

First, be careful to take Desoto Parkway…

Camping at its best.!!!

Cherokee Rock is a local favorite or mine. Beautiful views of Weiss Lake. Rock climbers paradise!!!. Camping is $15 and are first come first serve . Plenty of trails throughout the rock formations to hike and explore. RVs are welcome but NO hookups. There is dump station and hot showers and…

One of the best campgrounds in Alabama

This is an amazing place to camp and hike. Most of the other reviews cover all the wonderful amenities so I will mostly just add my photos from a trip here in the fall. Well worth a several-night stay. I personally like the tent sites but they also have paved RV spaces as well. Make sure to check…

Primitive campsites at the water

We chose a primitive site for a quieter camping night. Although the furthest away from a bathhouse, we truly enjoyed this site. It’s “pick your own” and we picked the site next to Seals hiking trail along the water. Each site has a fire pit and is mostly level. No table, so bring your own. No…

Great campground with easy access to good hiking!

This is a nice CG with good-sized, well-spaced full hookup sites. It pays to do your homework though and research the site ahead of time by checking photos, reviews, and descriptions as some aren’t as level as others. Ours (#84) is level and is close to a bath house which is essential for WiFi (bad…
