Deerfield Campground — Promised Land State Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Deerfield Campground sits within the forested terrain of Promised Land State Park in the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania, where mixed woodland surrounds a network of trails and a lakefront swimming area. Drive-in access brings most campers to full-hookup sites with electric, water, and sewer connections, making it a practical stop for RVs as well as tent campers. The access road has a reputation for rough patches, so low-clearance vehicles should approach with some caution.

Sites are relatively small and positioned close together, which reviewers consistently note, particularly on summer weekends when the campground fills up. The tradeoff is that the facilities hold up well under that pressure. Bathrooms draw repeated mentions for cleanliness, and the beach and lake swimming area give campers a clear reason to stay more than a night. Kelly F. recommends the Little Falls Trail specifically, adding that there are "many more trails to explore and not enough time."

Wildlife is active in the area. At least one camper reported a raccoon visit at the tent during the night, so food storage is worth taking seriously. Fishing rounds out the activity options, along with hiking trails that reviewers describe as moderate in difficulty. The Pickerel Point Campground — Promised Land State Park sits just 0.2 miles north for those wanting to compare sites within the park. At $22 per night with full hookups, reservations available, and pets allowed, Deerfield works best for campers who want connected amenities alongside lake and trail access in a wooded state park setting.

Nice spot for a quick stay

Nice clean SP campground. Popped in randomly during cross-country trip and was good for our purposes. Nice folks at the next site which were relatively small and close together but was pleasant enough for a quick stay.

Good enough for one night

The sites are on top of each other and it was very full on a Saturday night. But neighbors were nice and the bathrooms were very clean. The site itself was pretty small. It was pretty quiet and comfortable.

Gorgeous Trails

The whole park is amazing. Recommend Little Falls Trail. We also explored Conservation Island. Many more trails to explore and not enough time. The surrounding town is small and very cute.

Lots of choice

There are several different camping areas within the park. Some areas are pet friendly while others are not. Some sites have hookups while others are primitive. There is an area for everyone! Be sure to check out the hiking trails and the beach!!

The promised Land

Where to start? This place is named appropriately! It is beautiful! Nice clean water for swimming in the beach area. Wonderful viewing of wildlife, and nice trails for hiking and biking. The restrooms were clean and the ranger we met was very nice. We are planning to come back here again, it is one of our fav places!
