We are extremely pleased with the campground. We decided to stay here based on it's close proximity to Bucknell University. The staff is friendly, clientele is calm. Lots of well maintained seasonal sites. All the kids flock to the playground. A nice feature is the petting zoo. We will definitely return!
We stayed at Appalachian to visit a friend who has a seasonal site. Our site was full hook up. It was a nice size and was in a good location - near the ponds, pool, office, and bathhouse - but was still quiet! There were scheduled activities for kids and adults. The majority of seasonal sites we're clean and we'll maintained. Campers were friendly. A plus is that this campground is super easy to access from a major highway and once inside you forget about that.
We were very pleased with the size of our site. The campground was quiet and the bathhouses were clean. We happened to be there when it was 100 degrees so we definitely noticed that the bathhouses weren't air conditioned. We were really happy we didn't have to shower in them since they were so hot. The pool was warm but it could have been cleaner. The lake was so warm that it made us wonder what kind of bacteria was growing in it. Overall we were pleased with our stay and would return again.
We are ending a four night stay and are super pleased. Campsites are a good size, clientele is awesome, staff is great. Our one and only complaint is that the pool and water activities didn't open until 11.
There are several different camping areas within the park. Some areas are pet friendly while others are not. Some sites have hookups while others are primitive. There is an area for everyone! Be sure to check out the hiking trails and the beach!!
My husband and I have camped at Hickory Run twice now. Once before we had our daughter and once when our daughter was 7. Both times we had our dog with us. We enjoyed our stay. The other campers were quiet and considerate. The bathhouse was in a good condition. Our only complaint was that some of the dumpsters were full so we had to locate one that wasn't. As with any camping experience, check the layout of the campsite before booking to make sure the layout will accommodate your equipment.
