Several RV parks surround Ladysmith, Virginia, providing convenient options for motorhome travelers. R&D Family Campground in Milford offers year-round RV camping with full hookup sites including 50-amp service, making it suitable for larger RVs. Just 30 minutes away, Americamps RV Resort in Ashland features level gravel and concrete pad sites with full hookups, cable TV, and big rig accessibility. The pull-through sites accommodate larger motorhomes without requiring unhitching. "We picked Americamps because we were traveling through the Richmond area and it was very convenient to I-95," notes one reviewer who appreciated the spacious sites despite typical RV park spacing. Fredericksburg-Washington DC KOA operates year-round with full hookup sites including 50-amp service, while Lake Anna State Park Campground offers electric hookups and accommodates larger RVs with both back-in and pull-through sites.

Seasonal considerations affect availability at several RV campgrounds in the region. Thousand Trails Harbor View operates from April through mid-October with full hookup sites and big rig access, while Cozy Acres Campground RV Resort runs from April to November with level sites featuring brick paver pads. Most parks require reservations, particularly during peak seasons. Cell service varies by location, with Americamps reporting good Verizon coverage and functional Wi-Fi. Dump stations are available at most parks, though Prince William Forest RV Campground features two "easy dump stations" according to visitor reviews. Pet policies differ between facilities - most welcome pets with designated dog areas, but Lake Anna State Park does not allow pets. Propane filling stations can be found at select locations including Americamps, where one reviewer noted they regularly purchase propane for both their motorhome and home use.

      Christopher Run Campground

      Great location on the lake

Something for everybody; long term slots, primitive camping, with electricity and water, with full hookups, day use ramps for Lake Anna, huge covered picnic area for large gatherings, rv sites in the woods and others on the edge of large field. Staff are great.

Smallwood State Park Campground - TEMPORARILY CLOSED THROUGH JULY 2023

      Great Escape! Air conditioned cabins!

What a gem!  We found this place as an alternative to staying in DC during  4th of July festivities.  Nice spacious sites, cabins were super clean and smelled great!  Did I mention they were air conditioned during the hotest week of the summer!

      Bathrooms and showers were spotless.

Many things to see and do there. Historic property, big lake (no swimming), boating, fishing, hiking.  There is an Art Center with juried displays for sale.

      Lake Anna State Park Campground

      Wonderful End to Summer

We camped here Labor Day weekend 2025. Our site was nicely situated between a trail down to the lake and bathhouse.

We had a long driveway that was perfect for throwing a ball around. Plenty of space to spread out, and surrounded by trees.

Enjoyed a sunset walk down to the lake and exploring the entire beach area. Loved seeing the turtles at the pond and exploring two different play areas.

Prince William Forest RV Campground — Prince William Forest Park

      Nice clean Campground

Stayed here for a week while working nearby. Easy to get to and set up. Office was closed when we arrived but arrival paperwork was posted outside office door. Even with busy road nearby, park was quiet and felt private. Sites were level and paved making setup easy. Sites had 1/2 site extra paved for vehicle with extra parking nearby. There was no litter in park, we observed a staff member daily making the rounds to keep everything clean. There was walking access into the park on wide private roads without traffic. With park access you are able to walk into national forest park from RV camp. National Forest visitor center close by, 1 exit away going south I95. Amenities in RV park included swimming pool, chess board with extra large pieces, playground and clean bath house. Firewood and ice on site.

Oak Ridge Campground — Prince William Forest Park

      Great Campground

Our family loved this campground. It was entirely wooded with plenty of shade, sites were close but separated enough to feel like you were in your own site. Our kids and others rode their bikes around the loop all weekend long. Bathrooms could have been a little cleaner and all the entrances except one were closed, but that’s what happens when you cut budgets for public lands.
