Famous for its excellent wineries, historic small towns and natural beauty, the Hill Country also boasts a unique offering for campers known as Enchanted Rock State Park. 


Enchanted Rock is a large pink granite dome that rises 425 feet above the surrounding terrain and is the largest granite monadock in the United States. Indians, Spaniards and early settlers all had stories of magical, spiritual or unexplained happenings around the rock which gave the feature its name. These days, one of the most intriguing sights is at night, after a rain. The wet dome seems to glitter in the moonlight and while regarded as a simple play of light on the granite, the effect adds to both the mystery and enchantment of the area. 


Another intriguing site in the Hill Country is Jacob’s Well, a short 78 miles southeast from Enchanted Rock State Park. Fed by a natural artesian spring, Jacob’s Well consists of a large pool connected to a vast underground cavern system that sprawls more than 4300 feet. The spring is connected to the Trinity Aquifer and emits thousands of gallons of water each day where visitors can enjoy the cool 68 degree water. Outdoor amenities include a pool with tanning shelves, a “beer garden” with picnic tables, fire pit, yard games and grills, a pond with a perimeter walking trail, a dog wash, a putting green, a playground and rental storage units. Other amenities will include golf cart rentals and reserved parking spaces – both regular and oversized.

Campers can enjoy over 30 miles of multi-use trails, from hiking to biking and equestrian trails Brazos Bend has it all. Fishing is another popular activity and no fishing license is required. The park has three lakes for fishing  Hale, Forty Acre and New Horseshoe. Fish from the pier at Hale lake or from the shore at New Horseshoe Lake. Nature Programs are also offered every weekend and on most holidays in the parks Nature Center. When the sun starts to set, head down the road to the George Observatory where star parties take place Saturday nights starting at dusk. (note: you must purchase observatory tickets online in advance from the Houston Museum of Natural Science; they cannot be purchased at the park.)

Trailside I is located 10 miles within the state park but can only be accessed by following Sawmill Road. This partially-shaded site has drive-up access for you to park and unload right by your tent. Campers may also bring their own horses for this part of the State Park offers Equestrian Camping. You'll also have easy access to River View Trail as well as Yellowstone Landing Trail. Camp I is not fully secluded, there are other Signature sites around the area within 50 feet of each other. Your campsite features a spacious 10 x 12 platform tent with a queen bed as well as a pop-up tent that can accommodate 4 additional campers. A picnic table, firepit, and two Adirondack chairs are also included. There is a Tentrr Loo (camping potty) at your campsite for convenience. Campers will also be able to access the nearby park bathroom with flushable toilets and showers. 

Please note if State Park is under Fire ban the firepit will NOT be available. To get to the site, a section of the road is gravel and unlit by street lamps, so try to plan your arrival accordingly.

The park entrance fee is $6 per camper per day, this will be charged at checkout.

The Space:
Just 45 minutes southwest of Houston, this nearly 5,000-acre natural oasis offers lakes, prairies, a variety of wildlife and live oaks draped in Spanish moss. Explore 37 multi-use trails during your stay and campers can even bring their horse to many campsites.

Interaction with Guests:
Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While Tentrr does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location.

If a Tentrr Host submits an incident report after your stay that details evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or to state park property, Tentrr reserves the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set!
