Resort "Camping"

General: Huge RV Park located on the Gulf of Mexico (not Gulf of America!) on the Bolivar Peninsula; a Phase 2 expansion will eventually double the size of the park. (We stayed here two years ago and it looks like some of that expansion has already taken place.) There is just about every kind of amenity you can imagine here, including many facilities and activities geared toward families. There is a 10% discount for military and first responders.

Site Quality: As would be expected in an RV park, sites are close together with no privacy/separation between them. Sites include back-in sites (some are very close to the road), lakeview back-in sites, lakefront patio sites, premium pull-through sites, and beach club sites. All sites are FHU. IMO, the lakefront patio sites are the best as you back up to the lake.

Bath/Shower house: Likely the most immaculate facilities we’ve ever encountered. Staff was constantly cleaning them throughout the day. The showers were heavenly. The only frustrating thing is that the electrical outlet was located across the room from the mirror, making it challenging to dry/style your hair.

Activities/Amenities: Two pools: a family and an adult pool (with a full bar), kids park, golf cart rentals (you can drive them or your own personal vehicle on the beach with a permit), a stage for concerts, a bouncing pad, ball pits, and a dog park. There is also a camp store and a restaurant on-site.

This was our first time staying in a resort RV park and we were overwhelmed but in a good way. Our site was a lakefront patio site which we booked at the off-season rate. The park was between a quarter and a third full, but I would not want to stay when it was completely full. The beach wasn’t the greatest, but we appreciated direct beach access for walks and runs. Five stars for the cleanliness and amenities even if it is not our typical camping experience.
