Why did we decide to build an animal adventure park? We were both divorced, single parents and struggled financially when we met in 2009. It was difficult raising a blended family of seven, especially when it came to finding activities that could be accommodated on a very limited budget. You can learn more about our personal journey on our website, but to keep it short here, we wanted to create a family friendly experience that remains affordable and provides educational opportunity for visitors of all ages. (We did the farming/homesteading for Dummies for you).

*We are a wife/husband team and there is a lot of work for two when we need 10 employees. So, there are storm damaged trees or limbs from logged trees (we operate our own sawmill) and burn holes here and there. As one young recent guest remarked to his dad, this is a REAL farm the animals can come right up to you, and it smells like POOP!

    Awful

Beware!!!! The new owners of this park are rude, unkind, selfish, greedy people. They allow drugs to run in and out of the park they leave the supposedly secure gate open all night long so anyone can come in. They don't take care of the park and everything is run down. They change the prices when ever it suits them don't believe the online prices. It's a shame that someone who was kind and generous had to pass just so people who never had to work or earn anything gets control over it and doesn't have any care in taking care of what was suppose to be a gift. It's just sad to see what the park is and has become from what it could have been and is now gonna be.

    Waxahachie Creek Park

    Close to Nature

I wish I could rate this campground higher because it was so peaceful with quite a bit of bushy vegetation to provide a small measure of privacy between sites. This is as close to nature as one can get in a campground!  There was poison ivy on the trees next to us and in the mowed ground around the campsite.  There were so many butterflies, flies, and other flying insects on the sunny side of our RV that it made entering and exiting through the sliding door very difficult. And, the ANTS! After one night in our site, the ants had formed an active trail to the top of our RV. Consequently, we had ants inside the RV!

The roads inside the campground need to be repaved.

The camp host and the park ranger were both very friendly and informative.

    Tyler State Park Campground

Quiet, lovely campground. Excellent park staff.

We drove from NWArkansas the end of January to purchase a conversion van in Tyler, but towed our 19-foot Coleman camper just in case the van didn't work out, at least we'd have a nice camping trip! We stayed in a pull-though space (#340) which was large enough for our Tundra, the Coleman, AND our newly acquired 2000 E-350 Sportsmobile Van.

The campsites were quiet (except for our dogs, who loved the racoons and deer...sorry!!) and well maintained. Beautiful walk around the lake to watch the sunrise. The facilities are standard state park facilities...everything worked. One toilet was a mess, but that wasn't the rangers' fault. One would think women would be more mindful of the mess they make.

Note that the gift shop isn't open on Tuesday/Wednesdays, so if you want a head badge for your walking stick, you can purchase one at the ranger station CASH ONLY.  Highly recommend this park.

    Dallas Hi Ho RV Park

    absolute dump.

over charges for the lack of amenities they have. 2 toilets, 2 showers in the womens room, same in the mens. laundry rooms machines and constantly out of order. no change machine to do laundry either. playground consists of a swing set and a rustly merry-go-round both look over 30 years old. dumpsters are always full because people pull in and use them at night. assistant manager is a bitter woman who thinks shes entitled and can say whatever she wants to to anyone, same with the regular manager. water lines break constantly and water gets shut off to entire row to fix 1 spot. i do not trust even letting my 17 year old walk to the bath house by herself during the day because how sketchy some of the people living there are.

    Quiet place

Dean, the owner and manager, was exceptionally nice. The area is quiet and well maintained. Easy location to access from I-20. Verizon works great. We’ve been several places throughout the country and our site was extremely level. Plenty of room in pull through sites to keep toad hooked up behind 42’ Tiffin Bus. Nice area to stay overnight or for few days.

    Pecan Point Park Campground

Bad would give it 0 stars

This campgrounds doesn't enforce rules.  Like burn ban people next to us had a fire.  Its 100 plus degrees and we haven't had rain in this area.  Also had a german shepard dog running around free.   They told is he wasn't aggressive but he came over to our campsite 3 times.  Followed our kids down to the water.  Owner didn't care and thought it was funny.  They had 4 trucks parked on the grass area.  At least 6 adults and 8-10 kids running around.  Kids would come over to our campsite to pee.  Just because your outside doesn't mean you can do or act anyway.  We were fishing and kids would drive the jet ski over our lines in the water.  No adults said anything.  Plenty of space for everyone but the kept coming as close as they could to us.    Park Ranger didn't fine them for the fire in which they started up as soon as he left.  Park did nothing to make this a safe and happy place to relax.  We left early to avoid any further issues with them drinking heavily it was just going to get worse as they got drunker.

This park looks good with only 5 electric and water hook ups but don't be fooled.  They don't enforce any basic rules.  Bathrooms even though we have a camper were so gross I would want to go in for 1 second.

Pretty Cool Spot for a Weekend Camping Trip

We spent a weekend here with the in-laws, in site 51.  It had been raining a lot, so things were pretty muddy, but all in all it was a pretty nice park.

Lots of trails to explore, and a few geocaches.  If you like boating or fishing, this park would be great for you.

Site 51 was pretty secluded and level.

    I appreciate this location.

Made my reservation on line just a few spots were available. Spot 04 with a water view space is slanted. They had the parking pass ready to pick up so it was not necessary to speak with anyone. The view, electricity, water, and showers was very nice at such an affordable price. Take your cleaning supplies into the bathroom as a precaution, I did not see trash can in the bathrooms. Leave No Trace is not really practiced by other campers so feel free to pick up after someone else this space is beautiful and deserves respect. I enjoyed the rain and the view it was very relaxing and I appreciated a shower as well as powering all my extras before heading on the road to Minnesota. $14 for the space very appreciate.

    Clean-up on Site #11

    Pros

    Discount with National Park pass

    Shady

    Quiet

    Dark sky friendly

Nice metal roof cover over concrete picnic table

Saw park ranger drive thru during daylight

    2 bars T-MOBILE

Successful streaming with T-MOBILE hotspot device

    Cons

So day #2 without any TP in men’s restroom.  Went to front gate to report it and was told they would call it into the Army Corps of Engineers as gate volunteers have no stock of TP on hand.  Never saw any TP before leaving on third day

Toilet facility #1 women’s had raw sewage throughout deep enough to cover your foot. Site 11 has electrical hook up at rear on the door side of the camper

Site 11 water connection is centered at the rear of the parking pad.

    Site 11 unlevel.

Numerous piles of charcoal ash throughout site 11 campsite not in the fire pit.

Concrete picnic table needs degreased as surface has lots of large greasy stain

    Lake Holbrook Park - South

    Great Quiet Stop

The road in isn’t bad but it’s pretty dippy in some spots so if you have a large vehicle take it slow.

The directions take you to the Beach. Do not make the left turn. Camp spots are forward and to the right upon entry.

The spots are nice and spaced.

Only one other camper here when we arrived. They had tents. The spots are large enough to drive right into and it’s not to bumpy.

No bathrooms and the trash cans are all upside down and screwed to polls. So there is trash EVERYWHERE! In the lake, on the shore, on the roadways.

Other than the trash this place is absolutely breathtaking. We were on our way through so we only stayed for about 6 hours.

I imagine it’s the hot spot during the summer.

I would most definitely come back.

    Texas Rose RV Park

    Friendly place to stop at

Warm and inviting owners met us when we arrived and guided us to our site. The grounds were clean and spacious. All sites have a nice table and some have a barbeque! There is a pavilion you can use that includes tables, grills with propane, and a smoker. You can shoot some pool, play foosball, play games or watch TV in the rec room available for use. A playground is available for the kids.

The grounds were relaxing and quiet, though there is highway noise. Site are level. The permanent campers are friendly. We would stay here again.

There is a very generous military discount.
