Tons of amenities but long drive to the natural wonders

During a hot week mid June, we were grateful for full hookups, clean shower facilities, and a (small) pool to keep cool BUT the little trees beside each site provide no shade for the rigs. They provide breakfast and dinner for a fee if interested and have live music, wine tastings … no shortage of…

  • shower stalls at the 3 bathhouses - very clean!
  • bathrooms - always clean and they had air fresheners going
  • for being such a huge campground, and fully booked during our stay, the bathrooms and showers were always minimally used / nearly empty

Nice, clean campground but noisy due to interstate

The campground is very well maintained and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The downside is that you are right on a highway and there is traffic noise all day and night. We also had an issue with the sewer hookup next to us stinking like rotten eggs making sitting outside unbearable. We were…

Hiking trails, Wildlife and family friendly

Cute family friendly location. Had some issues connecting to the WiFi, but overall, a good spot.

Small spots

Small spots tight parking for tow vehicle. Pretty cheap though for a good central location to a lot of South Dakota tourist spots and national parks

Great Stay

This was my first time at a campground and it was a great experience. Even though we arrived after hours the office was accommodating and left us a map. We were able to hookup with no problem. Bathrooms were clean for the most part!

Home base but nothing more

It was quiet and a good home base.

The pool was dirty and my daughter got a chlorine rash from it. They also recently caulked the pool and it was washing off into the pool. Other kids had caulk on theur faces. There are only 2-3 chairs around the pool so bring your own.

We stayed in a medium…

Great quiet campground with Amazing scenery

The campground is spacious and nice. The overgrown pine trees in the Black Hills mountains are great for shade. The water in the lake is the cleanest reservoir lake water that I can remember. My 4 year old had a blast swimming, kayaking and enjoying the scenery.

Great place to camp

Wyatts hideaway is a great place to camp. Wyatts is right by the red water river which is a great turning river. Wyatts campground has a lot of trees too so there is enough shade but you will get enough sun.

Awesome place. One of my favorite

Pulmer gulch is a awesome place. There are many things to do. There is a mini golf course, a playground, a Tiny gift shop, and my more. One cool thing is there are big boulders scattered across the campground which kids love to climb on. There is also a pool and water slide that is free to get in.…

Great private camp in pines, excellent access to Custer and surrounding areas. Very close to Michelson Trail. Sites are well maintained and provide some privacy.

Loved it!

Our spot was one of the doubles and overlooked Deerfield Lake. The host was friendly and the toilet was the cleanest I’ve seen at a campsite. It was our first time staying at Dutchman, and we’ll definitely be back! It’s about a 40 minute drive from Hill City and secluded from any road traffic and…

Excellent family campground with tons of amenities.

This campground is awesome! With views of Black Elk Peak, a 30 minute drive to most attractions near Mt Rushmore, you can’t beat it. The kids loves the pool area, splash park, and mini-golf. Multiple activities each day for the kids to do.
Sites are mostly level and easy in and out, many…

No Cell! No Internet!

Verizon cell coverage was non-existent, which admittedly is outside of their control. But there was absolutely no Internet access through their WiFi, which is within their control. Their suggestion: drive 10-15 mins to nearby town to find their library. Sorry... that just doesn’t work in this day…
