Maple Lakes Campground provides a pet-friendly environment in Seville, Ohio, approximately 15 miles from Rittman. While pets are welcomed without additional fees, dogs must remain at campsites rather than being walked throughout the property—an unusual restriction noted by several campers. The campground features spacious grassy sites with good spacing between neighbors, accommodating tent camping, RVs, and cabin stays from April 15 to October 1. Most campsites appear to be occupied by seasonal or long-term residents, creating a stable community atmosphere. Findley State Park Campground, located in Wellington, offers year-round pet-friendly camping with electric hookups, water access, and shower facilities.

Campers with dogs visiting the Rittman area should consider several practical options within a 30-minute drive. Silver Springs Campground in Stow provides a more basic camping experience with pets allowed from April to October, featuring wooded sites without water hookups but with accessible toilets and picnic areas. For families seeking extensive recreation opportunities, Clay's Resort Jellystone Park in North Lawrence permits pets throughout its 680 campsites and offers cabin and glamping options from May through November. The nearby hiking trails in Summit Metro Parks system allow leashed dogs, with Franklin Trailhead providing primitive camping sites along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail for hikers and cyclists with pets—these free first-come, first-served sites require mosquito protection during summer months.

      Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

      Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

    Guide to Rittman

Campgrounds near Rittman, Ohio are situated in the rolling hills of northeastern Ohio's glaciated Allegheny Plateau, with elevations ranging from 900 to 1,200 feet. The region experiences four distinct seasons with summer temperatures averaging in the mid-80s F and winter lows often below freezing. Camping options span from basic primitive sites to full-service RV parks with lake access throughout Wayne and Medina counties.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: At American Wilderness Campground, campers can enjoy catch-and-release fishing in the on-site lake. "We loved the fishing available here we also had the kids they enjoyed the arcade and gem mining we also liked the access to self serve laundry and camp store as well," notes Jessica J. The campground offers both recreational fishing and swimming areas separated for safety.

Hiking trails: Findley State Park Campground features extensive woodland hiking options through mature forests. "Findley state park is well maintained large park! We can easily get lost on 3 mile hikes in the woods and still be on marked paths! The roads are paved and excellent for biking and skating," reports Kimberly C. The park maintains several miles of trails ranging from easy to moderate difficulty.

Water recreation: Paddle sports are popular at local lakes during summer months. The Canal Fulton Canoe Livery & Campground offers canoe and kayak rentals with river access. "You can Count on a nice float down a lazy river," says Brannon M. Monthly river clean-up events are also hosted for environmentally conscious campers.

    What campers like

Spacious sites: Many campers appreciate the roominess at Maple Lakes Campground which provides good separation between camping spots. "This is a beautiful location. Lots of long term campers. Beautiful trees and the fishing lakes had lovely benches... Sites had a bit of space so that was nice," writes Tracy L. The campground features a mixture of sunny and shaded locations on grassy terrain.

Clean facilities: Maintenance standards receive positive mentions from visitors to area campgrounds. At Willow Lake Park, campers note good upkeep of common areas. "Bathroom house was clean but dated. Owners are making improvements all the time," reports Wilson W., highlighting ongoing upgrades at the facility.

Family activities: Entertainment options for children rank high on camper satisfaction surveys. "We had a nice time taking the kids to the arcade," mentions Luis G. about his American Wilderness Campground visit. Scheduled weekend events at Willow Lake Park Inc include organized activities. "Stay here for the holiday weekend, they offer plenty of activities for everyone. Had a band each night!" shares ivory L.

    What you should know

Seasonal operations: Most campgrounds in the Rittman area operate from spring to fall. American Wilderness Campground runs from late April through mid-October, while Findley State Park Campground remains one of few year-round operations in the region.

Reservation requirements: Booking in advance is recommended, especially for weekends and holiday periods. "Very nice, comfortable campground, kids loved it. Only downfall is trying to find an open spot for reservations. Place is booked most of the time. If you're planning a holiday weekend you need to book 6 months in advance," advises Jeffrey L. about Findley State Park.

Water quality varies: Some campgrounds in the area have mineral-rich water that may have a distinctive smell. "I'm not sure what's up with the water, but it smells like metal and you're probably better off bringing your own drinking water," notes Derek N. at Willow Lake Park. Several campers recommend bringing drinking water if you're sensitive to mineral tastes.

    Tips for camping with families

Budget-friendly options: Silver Springs Campground in Stow offers affordable rates for families. "We stayed for only one night but I wish we stayed longer! The campsite was quaint but very peaceful. Sites were a good size and fit the online description well," says Abbey E. The campground provides spacious sites at lower costs than some neighboring facilities.

Playground access: Many families choose campgrounds with dedicated play areas. "There is a lot offered and great place for kids," mentions Carrisa P. about Maple Lakes Campground. Silver Springs Campground includes not only its own playground but access to a large dog park that children enjoy watching even without pets.

Swimming options: Water recreation remains popular with families during summer months. "The lake was clean and nice," shares Jacob B. about American Wilderness. Several campgrounds offer swimming lakes or pools with varying amenities and lifeguard coverage, with most operational between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

    Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Some campgrounds have uneven terrain requiring preparation. "Our first visit at site #1 was very difficult to level a 24 ft trailer and full sun. Returned a few weeks later to site #4, was much more level and full shade," advises Gary G. about Silver Springs Campground. Bringing additional leveling blocks is recommended.

Hookup availability: Caskey's Campground in Orrville provides water and electric connections but limited sewer options. "Sites have water and electric, and there's a dump station. The bathroom facilities are a little rough but functional," notes Seth P. Most RV sites in the region offer 30-amp service, with 50-amp less common.

Site selection: When making reservations, specific site details matter for RV comfort. "The lots are nice and large. The main problem was very hard to level and soft grass they don't have a well compacted area for your tt/rv," explains Jeffrey L. about a local campground. Many dog friendly campgrounds near Rittman feature primarily seasonal or long-term residents, with limited transient sites available.
