    Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA

Quiet, peaceful, close to all the things

We stopped here for a couple nights to go to a Cleveland Guardians game and go to Cuyahoga National Park. It was within great proximity to both and had all the amenities the kids and I love. Swimming (wish it were open a little later…) laundry 24/7, a game room, store with just what we needed to pick up a few things, a pond that seemed to always have someone fishing at it (that’s a good thing) and a big wide sites to spread out and have a nice campfire in. (Wood available 24/7 and trash pick up at the site in the AM). It’s always nerve wracking when the fire pits are close to the rigs - loved that these sits were wide. And while there are likely people here it feels nice and spread out.

    Woodside Lake Park

Old Park With Iron Laden Well Water Beware

I stayed at this park for 2 months in 2023 and was planing on staying for 5 months in 2025. I left after 2 months due to iron& sulfur laden well water that is provided in at least half the park. I spent hundreds of dollars trying to filter and clean up the water to no avail. It damages everything and they won't put a treatment system in at the well pump like the 2nd well has so you can filter it to an acceptable level for drinking, cooking, washing etc.

In 2023 I was in a section that was treated and my filters/softener did a acceptable job to make it work. I Used the laundry facilities also. This trip to see family in 2025 I was in a different section and by the second day it was unacceptable disgusting turbid rusty water with sulfur odor. I bought additional filters for Ferrous Iron Water treatment and remediation along with iron out chemical for cleaning fixtures and plumbing system on the camper. It barely worked well enough for a couple weeks between filter changes and rinsing the system for shower use. I Had to buy drinking water in town every few days for cooking, drinking and brushing teeth etc.

New owners bought the park in 2023 and have increased monthly rent from$750 a month to$950 a month but don't seem to care enough about the health and comfort of their guest to do anything with the well water for a majority of the park. Let alone any of the other infrastructure or"amenities" to be generous in there reference This year even the laundry machines where too disgusting to use that we had to go into town for laundry also.

The park needs major renovations to just bring it up to modern standards. The bath house is in decrepit condition moldy smelly and barely cleaned anytime I was over there. Site pads are rip rap 1" to 4" size rock with no fine rock coverings, or in some areas smoother rock and dirt but nowhere close to flat or level. Water drainage when its raining is deplorable and you very well might be in a mud pit at your doorway.

It's sad there are no decent RV parks in the Cleveland area, just old campgrounds that have added hook-ups and market themselves as RV parks and now charge like they are RV Resorts. Reserve a space at your own risk and definitely verify where and what water source you are on. Bring plenty of filters and plan on sanitizing your system after staying there.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Affordable

The lots are nice and large. The main problem was very hard to level and soft grass they don’t have a well compacted area for your tt/rv. Would be nice to have bathroom built on the campground. Have to walk to the baseball field to use the bathrooms. Overall had a good time with my family.

What to do

Hiking trails: At Findley State Park Campground, numerous wooded paths provide recreational opportunities. "Findley state park is well maintained large park! We can easily get lost on 3 mile hikes in the woods and still be on marked paths! The roads are paved and excellent for biking and skating," notes camper Kimberly C.

Water activities: The 93-acre Findley Lake offers paddling opportunities with rental equipment available seasonally. "Took the kayaks out on the lake and had a great time," reports Linda R., while other campers mention the ability to rent "various styles of watercraft to explore the lake" at this state park.

Dog park access: Silver Springs Campground in Stow provides an exceptional pet recreation area. "There is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it," writes Kate W. The dog park even includes "a swimming beach for dogs only" according to another reviewer.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Several campgrounds maintain well-kept bathhouses despite varying amenity levels. At Willow Lake Park in Medina, "The owners are making tremendous improvements to this campground. We visited 7 years ago and said we would never go back... We have seen many major improvements," reports Jeffrey H., highlighting ongoing upgrades to facilities.

Evening entertainment: Saturday night performances at Willow Lake Park provide social opportunities. "The pavilion with bands every Saturday night, plenty of events for kids," are part of the recent improvements mentioned by seasonal campers. Another visitor notes they "had a band each night! Bad Juju was definitely a favorite of mine."

Spacious campsites: Maple Lakes Campground in Seville offers adequate site spacing. "This is a big campground where you are not on to of your neighbors. There is a lot offered and great place for kids," notes Carrisa P. Another visitor confirms: "Sites had a bit of space so that was nice. We would definitely return for vacation."

What you should know

Water quality concerns: Some facilities experience water issues requiring preparation. At Willow Lake Park, campers note: "I'm not sure what's up with the water, but it smells like metal and you're probably better off bringing your own drinking water." Similar concerns exist at other area campgrounds, with one camper reporting "NO WATER" at Nimisila Reservoir.

Seasonal operation: Most campgrounds maintain limited operational seasons. The camping window typically runs April through October, with American Wilderness Campground in Grafton operating "April 28 to October 15" according to their listing.

Reservation requirements: Advance booking is essential during peak periods. At Findley State Park, "If you're planning a holiday weekend you need to book 6 months in advance," explains Jeffrey L., noting the challenge of securing reservations because "place is booked most of the time."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several campgrounds provide dedicated play equipment. Nimisila Reservoir offers "a playground as well" according to Shannon G., although other visitors caution "There is a small play ground for kids but right at a corner where cars drive thru. The play ground is probably only good for ages 4-8 as there isn't much for older kids."

Fishing options: Multiple locations offer fishing opportunities with varying catch-and-release policies. At Pier-Lon Park, visitors appreciate the "lake to swim or fish" as part of the "wholesome family campground" experience.

Activity planning: Weekend schedules often include organized recreational programs. At American Wilderness, one family mentioned they "went to the pavilion to a get together" and appreciated that "the arcade and gem mining" were available for children's entertainment.

Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Site conditions vary significantly across area campgrounds. At Caskey's Campground, the "road in is really bumpy so take it slow," warns Seth P. Similarly, Silver Springs Campground has "many unlevel sites" according to Judy F., who also notes "only 3-30 amp hooks ups, the rest are 20 amp."

Hookup availability: Full-service sites are limited at many facilities. "No full hookup as indicated on some search sites," notes one Willow Lake Park visitor, while another explains that for a fee, "you can schedule an appointment to have someone come by and dump you out."

Campsite selection: Research specific sites before booking to ensure appropriate accommodations. At Findley State Park, Crystal A. recommends "doing a some research on campsites as they range from small to large for the same price," sharing her experience of switching from site #131 which was "too small for 2 tents" to site #118 which "was a larger" option.
