Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Canfield, OH

Mill Creek Camping at Berlin Lake Wildlife Area permits pets at all sites with electric hookups and waterfront access. KOA Lake Milton Berlin Lake accommodates pets in tent sites, RV spots, cabins, and glamping units, making it versatile for various camping styles. Both campgrounds maintain clean facilities with running water restrooms and fire rings at each site. Campers appreciate Mill Creek's spacious lakefront sites that allow pets to enjoy private beach areas, though leashes are required throughout the property. The campground offers numerous fishing and swimming opportunities along the shoreline where dogs can cool off alongside their owners. Bathrooms are regularly serviced and maintained in clean condition.

    Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

    Silver Springs Campground

Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

Rose Point Park Cabins & Camping

    Family and pet friendly

OverLl great campground. The sites are a little close together but we still enjoyed our time there. Staff is super friendly and there was plenty for the kids to do, pool, arcade, fishing, and playground. Decent size dog park to let your dogs run and decent trails nearby.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

    Goddard Park Vacationland Campground

    Near Beautiful Lake Wilhelm

Nice park with very friendly staff. My only complaint is the sites are way too crowded. Also a little uneven. I love that this park is close to Lake Wilhelm & Goddard State Park for fishing and bike riding. 2 pools and a dog park.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

Guide to Canfield

Berlin Lake and surrounding areas offer camping options within 20 miles of Canfield, Ohio. The region sits at approximately 1,060 feet elevation with a humid continental climate characterized by four distinct seasons. Summer temperatures average between 70-85°F, while spring and fall camping seasons often see nighttime temperatures drop below 50°F.

What to Do

Fishing opportunities: At Guilford Lake State Park Campground, anglers can take advantage of the lake's abundant fishing spots. "The camp sites on the water are very spacious" and "the lake was very very pleasant," according to campers who visited in August. The park provides multiple docks for fishing and convenient kayak launches.

Water recreation: Shenango Campground offers excellent boating access on Shenango River Lake. "There are a small handful of electric only sites, but the bulk of them are dry. A large number of them are on the lake providing a nice area to beach your boat or kayaks," notes one visitor. The lake allows unlimited horsepower boats for those seeking more active water sports.

Historical exploration: For those interested in local history, the pioneer village at Beaver Creek State Park Campground provides educational opportunities. "The best part about the area was the history that surrounds it. There is a pioneer village near the park office that offers some picnicking areas around it. It also has original buildings from the pioneer days (church, school, etc)."

What Campers Like

Private beach areas: Many sites at Berlin Lake Wildlife Area feature direct lake access. "We book a lakefront site and it is just gorgeous! We have our own private little beach which our dog loves," notes a camper at Mill Creek Camping. This makes it an excellent option for pet friendly camping near Canfield, Ohio.

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention well-maintained bathrooms. At Salem-Lisbon KOA, one reviewer noted "the campground was very clean and well maintained" with facilities regularly serviced. Bathroom cleanliness is particularly important for families with young children and those staying at primitive sites.

Spacious sites: Several campgrounds in the Canfield area offer larger sites that provide more privacy. One camper at Ridge Ranch Campground mentioned, "Stayed in a primitive site. We were the only ones in that area for the weekend. It was away from the RVs but close enough to the bathrooms."

What You Should Know

Seasonal considerations: Most campgrounds in the Canfield area operate from May through October, with limited winter accessibility. "Only open in the summer," notes a reviewer at Mill Creek Camping. Plan accordingly if visiting during shoulder seasons.

Site selection factors: When booking at KOA Lake Milton Berlin Lake, consider proximity to amenities. "My only complaint is that the sites are very close together, it felt like we had no privacy at all," states one camper. Research site maps before booking, especially during peak season.

Noise considerations: Proximity to roads affects some camping experiences. One camper at Ridge Ranch noted, "the hiway noise was just too much for the kids to sleep, and to enjoy a night at the fire having to yell at times." Choose interior sites at certain campgrounds for quieter stays.

Wildlife management: Goose activity impacts lakefront sites at some locations. "Goose excrement all over on the lakeside campsites - bring a small shovel and a lot of plastic bags. Plan on cleaning before you set camp," advises one camper at Guilford Lake.

Tips for Camping with Families

Water recreation options: Family-friendly water features are abundant at Lake Milton Berlin Lake KOA. "The kids jumping area and playground was really nice," and "my 2 boys had so much fun at the lake and the playground and the bounce pad," report families who visited with children.

Playground access: Several campgrounds offer play areas for children. Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground provides "a large play ground" that keeps younger campers entertained between water activities and hiking adventures.

Activity planning: Schedule around organized events for maximum enjoyment. "They have a lot of things to do and activities all weekend," notes a visitor to KOA Lake Milton, making it worth checking activity calendars when seeking pet friendly camping options near Canfield for families.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling considerations: Many campgrounds in the Canfield region have mixed terrain. At Beaver Creek State Park, "we ended up putting it on a hill a bit because we knew it would rain so it would wash pass our tent instead of inside it." RVers should bring leveling blocks, especially for sites near water.

Utility access: Plan for water refills at designated stations. "They have water spigots periodically located within the loops and the CG map identifies where they are," notes an RVer at Shenango Campground. Most sites offer electric-only hookups with central water access points.

Early arrival recommended: Office hours affect check-in procedures. "Please arrive before 7pm (office closes) to get a last minute spot if available always call ahead," advises an RVer who stayed at Ridge Ranch Campground.
