    Westfield-Lake Erie KOA

    1st stop across country

This campground is very clean on the smaller side but very nice. There is highway noise but in your camper you really can’t here it. Beautiful temp and lots of things for the kids to do. Pool, playground, game room. They do have a dog park if you bring your pups. Overall very nice. I would come back.

    Overnighter

We only stayed for an overnighter on a long trip west. The restrooms and showers are some of the best we’ve seen during our trip. Very well maintained facilities and grounds and the staff are friendly and helpful. We were able to change our site for one that was more level without a problem. The only thing that might bother some people is the road noise. However we were able to sleep well despite it. There is also a dog “park”/fenced area.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    30+ years of great memories!

We have camped at Letchworth State Park for nearly 30 years. Recent updates to playground equipment and restroom/shower facilities have brought the amenities into the 21st century. The price is reasonable, and the park is a gem. A couple cons to consider: pets only allowed in three loops. Quite often, pet loop reservations are maxed quickly. There is a two dog limit, which excludes many campers. If you are used to private campgrounds, realize that services are limited here. Mediocre camp store and laundry; both get the job done, but leave a lot to be desired.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Letchworth State Park, NY

Letchworth State Park is known as the Grand Canyon of the East and is located in Mt. Morris New York. My husband and I visited regularly when we lived near Rochester, NY. The park is stunning and is fit for camping whether you’re in a tent, RV or choosing to rent a gorgeous cabin. There are many walking and hiking trails for adventurers of all types. Make sure you bring your camera as the views are all photo worthy. The camping price is right due to the fact that the park is run by the state. A great place to stay especially in the Summer!!

    Shamrock Pines Campground

    Clean and friendly

Called up on Friday afternoon of Labor Day weekend and they accommodated us for two nights.  John and his staff were friendly and welcoming.  Very clean campground with mostly seasonal sites.  Several overnight sites with electric and water.  These sites were mostly gravel and cut into a bank so that there is some separation.  Surrounded by trees but grounds are well kept.  Fully fenced dog park that was great for our pup.  A couple of ponds for kids to fish and what looks like a nice pool.  Quiet hours observed.  On Saturday night there was a band in an outdoor stage that was great.

Close enough to Ellicottville to enjoy the shops, brewery and restaurants there.

Only thing I would mention is the dump station is simply just a pipe off one of the driveways with a water hose.  Not a problem and it works, just not typical of dump stations.

Guide to Springville

The Springville area sits in the foothills of western New York's Allegheny Mountains at elevations between 1,200-1,800 feet. Located in Erie County, the region's camping season typically runs from April through October with summer temperatures averaging 70-85°F. Winter snowfall can exceed 100 inches annually, making most campgrounds seasonal operations.

What to do

Creek exploration: East Otto State Forest offers easy access to local waterways. "We went for a quick weekend trip with 3 people and 4 dogs. What a great spot! We were nice and secluded, which was great for the dogs to run around, be safe, and not bother other campers... it was relatively easy to find and the campsite is pretty close to Zoar Valley for a nice day trip!" notes Maddie C.

Fish stocked ponds: The multiple fishing areas at Allegany Mountain Members Resort provide opportunities for anglers. Kevin D. shares that "This place has larger sites and a nice size lake to fish in along with a few other small stocked ponds." While membership is typically required, they offer trial packages for prospective members.
