      Finger Lakes RV Resort

      Just as advertised

Wonderful location and marvelous hosts. We were welcomed with chocolate chip cookies as we checked in. Bathrooms were beautiful and clean. Two wineries we could walk to and dozens more nearby. Our site was spacious and the dog park gave our pups plenty of time off leash. We definitely plan on returning.

      Letchworth State Park Campground

      Letchworth State Park, NY

Letchworth State Park is known as the Grand Canyon of the East and is located in Mt. Morris New York. My husband and I visited regularly when we lived near Rochester, NY. The park is stunning and is fit for camping whether you’re in a tent, RV or choosing to rent a gorgeous cabin. There are many walking and hiking trails for adventurers of all types. Make sure you bring your camera as the views are all photo worthy. The camping price is right due to the fact that the park is run by the state. A great place to stay especially in the Summer!!

      Letchworth State Park Campground

      30+ years of great memories!

We have camped at Letchworth State Park for nearly 30 years. Recent updates to playground equipment and restroom/shower facilities have brought the amenities into the 21st century. The price is reasonable, and the park is a gem. A couple cons to consider: pets only allowed in three loops. Quite often, pet loop reservations are maxed quickly. There is a two dog limit, which excludes many campers. If you are used to private campgrounds, realize that services are limited here. Mediocre camp store and laundry; both get the job done, but leave a lot to be desired.

      Letchworth State Park Campground

      Good weekend campsite

Not technically in the Finger Lakes but still one of the most beautiful parts of Western New York State. Splurge and eat at the Glen Iris Inn! Great for cycling and hiking but no swimming. I love taking visitors here in all seasons but in autumn it is exceptional. I’ve stayed in a few tent sites and all are wooded and pretty private with your standard basic amenities. This is a popular park so make reservations.

The Grand Canyon of the East!

I went to college right near Letchworth State Park so I spent many wonderful weekends there! There is a reason why they call it the Grand Canyon of the East. Not only can you check out the beautiful waterfalls, but there are also many awesome trails, rivers, and caves to check out. When I would camp, we would rent a camp site with our tent but, you could camp with your RV or even rent a cabin. Ive gone every month of the year, but these pictures were from my birthday in January. Letchworth is one of the best parks in New York state and a definite must see!

      Sampson State Park Campground

Solid option in the finger lakes.

We camped here for 3 nights, I had an event in Geneva. Location was handy, easy in and out. It’s an old navy/Air Force base that was converted in the 60’s. Sites have a weird thing with one electric post per two sites… but they aren’t pull through. So, apparently, New York doesn’t care if you just park anywhere in the general area of your site, which is a vibe, but bring an extension cord. There’s some kind of “resort” co-located that appears to have more conventional hookups, but I’m unclear on how to book that. Price was fine, spot was ok, lake swim beach and playground were nice.

      Letchworth State Park Campground

      Letchworth State Park

My son and I have a new favorite campground.  We absolutely fell in love with this park.  I find it odd that even though I grew up only an hour away, we never camped there.  Big mistake!  There are many trails to hike on and beautiful views of the gorge and river.  You have to drive to many of the places but it's worth it.  There are many souvenir and snack stands as well as a pool (again, you have to drive to them).  The camp store is small but well stocked with a laundry attached. Some loops allow pets and others don't.  If you want to bring your pet, please check to make sure you reserve a pet-friendly loop. Unfortunately for us, it rained the entire time we were there so we never got to walk the trails or use the pool.  Keep an eye out for other activities.  There are balloon rides, craft shows, etc. that happen throughout the summer. With so much to do in the park, you don't really need to leave but nearby is the Arcade and Attica Railroad.  It's a nice little ride through the countryside.  There is also a small dam that you can visit (we missed out this last time).  I highly recommend visiting.

    Guide to Honeoye Falls

Pet friendly camping near Honeoye Falls, New York offers scenic options within 25-30 miles of town. The region sits at approximately 600-800 feet elevation with a typical northeastern climate featuring warm summers and cold winters. Local campgrounds range from rustic forest settings to developed lakeside properties with hook-ups, most maintaining seasonal operations from May through October.

    What to do

Hiking with dogs: Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill features multiple pet-friendly trails where leashed dogs can explore forest paths. As Sarah C. notes, "Great secluded tent camping, cabins are new and ample beds and space... Numerous pavilions that are wonderful for parties or weddings. Stunning overlook that is breathtaking."

Swimming options: At Canandaigua-Rochester KOA, families can enjoy the pool while camping with pets. Jenise P. shares, "I haven't stayed in a KOA before because they have so many amenities I don't use. I'm a birder and my tent site here is next to a little grove of trees where I counted 12 species of birds this morning."

Fishing opportunities: Many local campgrounds offer fishing access, particularly along Mud Creek and Conesus Lake. Sydney W. remarks about Conesus Lake Campground: "Cozy campground. Clean single person bathrooms. Golf cart, paddle board and kayak rentals available. Campground is on a very steep hill so it is difficult to walk around."

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Webster Park receives consistent praise for its maintenance. Joseph W. states, "We did a last minute reservation and ended up loving the place. There was good separation between the campsites and the bathrooms and showers were clean. Wasn't too far from a park along Ontario."

Kid-friendly amenities: Letchworth State Park Campground offers numerous child-oriented features. Lisa M. comments, "Quiet relaxing atmosphere, lots of hiking trails and family friendly with parks and a pool for the kids to play."

Private sites: Many campgrounds provide secluded options for those seeking privacy with pets. Amanda M. describes her experience at Webster Park: "This was our first trip here. It was nothing short of perfect. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Camp sites are wooded and private. Very quiet and peaceful. Clean and well maintained."

    What you should know

Terrain challenges: Several campgrounds feature significant elevation changes. Marissa R. notes about Conesus Lake Campground: "The campground was nice and clean, the staff was very friendly, and the pool was nice. Only complaint is nature. The hill is a killer! But that problem was solved by renting a golf cart!"

Site spacing variations: Southwoods RV Resort and other campgrounds have different density levels depending on section. Nancy W. observes, "One downside of this park is that the sites are pretty close and feel a little cramped when the park is full. There is a train track near the park which occasionally is quite noisy."

Seasonal considerations: Most pet-friendly campgrounds operate May through October with varied services. Jeff A. notes about Letchworth: "Beautiful state park, very lush green from all the rain unfortunately the smoke from the Canadian fires near have made it unhealthy here, especially strenuous outdoor activities."

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Ontario County Park provides excellent facilities for children. Jonathan G. shares, "Great campground for kids, events, and hiking. Plenty of room on each site for whatever you need. Multiple playgrounds which are clean & well maintained."

Entertainment options: When camping with pets and children near Honeoye Falls, choose campgrounds with diverse activities. Greg S. mentions about Canandaigua-Rochester KOA: "Our first KOA stop, so can't compare to other KOAs, but this place has a good number of family activities and events. Our 3 and 5 year olds really enjoyed the jump pad and woods obstacles."

Site selection: Stay Bristol Woodlands offers level sites ideal for families with pets. Jody M. comments, "Site was level and well equipped (waste water disposal attach site!) Bathrooms clean and fully functional."

    Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: RVers with pets should bring adequate leveling equipment. Jonathan G. advises about Ontario County Park: "Only downside is that the RV sites don't have much shade but the tent sites do. Also make sure to bring plenty of leveling blocks as some sites are far from level."

Hook-up locations: Pay attention to utility placement when selecting pet-friendly sites. Sheri S. describes Creek n Wood: "Sites have picnic table, fire ring, Adirondack chairs, water and electric hookup, and a dump station to use on your way out. If you stay for an extended period, they offer free emptying at your site."

Accessibility considerations: Some campgrounds have challenging terrain for larger rigs. Donna C. notes about Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort: "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach. We changed sites three times and finally resigned ourselves to not being leveled."
