All Media Marketing: Driving Digital Innovation and Brand Growth Since 2008

    Horrible Customer Service

I would like to start off by saying this was our first time visiting the Medina Wildwood Koa and unfortunately it will have to be our last. Our camp ground it’s self was great. Lots of space, a picnic bench, a fire pit, a grill and even a lake you can fish/rent boats to go on right behind us!

There were many different ways to keep busy and have fun. We were able to float in tubes at the creek, go swimming, rent a peddle boat, play at the playground, rent a golf cart, and jump on a big jumping pillow. And I must say the bathrooms were pristine and air conditioned! Loved that!!

The major problem with this campground is the very rude people. Not only was the customer service absolutely horrible and spoke to not only adults but also children in a very rude harsh way making us ALL feel incompetent/uneducated but the regulars at this campground are just as rude and disrespectful. How can you ever feel welcome or want to come back to a campground with staff saying things like: “You must not know how to read” and clearing there throats very loudly with their arms crossed before telling us other things we may have been doing wrong very sarcastically.

I do admit that we did do some things the wrong way and as soon as we found out or saw on our own we corrected them. It’s just not something I would ever want to endure again especially since my kids feelings were hurt the most and this was ment for them to have fun.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Unexpected Surroundings

In most states, those without falls like Niagara, this state park would be the pride of the land. With three serious drops in as many miles, the Genesse River winds it’s way through what locals call the “Grand Canyon of the East.” Many states try to make such claims, but this might be the closest any come to actually living up to such. It is stunning!

Along the river this park gives the motorist the distinct feel that she is on a parkway, not unlike Shenendoah, or Blue Ridge. Every few miles the winding pavement breaks out onto a few of the ridges and valley below, before ducking back into the forest of Western New York.

The campground, which is about 15 miles from the major falls area, offers what many come to expect from state parks. There are a wide variety of campsites, all reservable online, which can accommodate lots of different types of camping, large RV’s, small tents, and everything in between. Most, if not all, campsites offer electrical and water is available close by.

The bathrooms are practically luxurious by most camping standards, with single-use restroom/ showers available at all hours. The camp store offered a few grocery items, along with cold drinks, firewood and ice in addition to laundry facilities. Within a short walk were many hiking trails, an old-school fitness path, and a stellar playground where anyone under 9 years of age should get a great workout.

But let’s be honest, we’re not coming here for the campground, it’s the rest of the park that makes the drive worth it. So, check it out and get to know this stunning place first hand and be sure to bring a picnic basket.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Amazing state park, crappy campground

The state park is breathtaking. The campground is horrendous. The restrooms were disgusting. The site barely fit our one tent (8man Coleman) even though it was advertised as a two tent site. The camp fire ring had no solid base- it just sat on the grass and fires would not stay lit. The quiet hours were not enforced. Yelling and loud music kept us up until ridiculous hours. I would not rate this as family friendly.

    Sned Acres Campground

Nice place to stay while exploring the Finger Lakes

We happened upon Sned Acres when Curveball was cancelled and had to make lemons out of lemonade. We were welcomed w a fresh loaf of bread and the owners made sure our group was able to stay together on neighboring sites. Out site was nicely shaded and across from the small lake. The showers were hot and the facilities were clean. It is a family campground w quiet hours after 9pm, so consider that when booking.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

    Would absolutely camp here again.

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Wonderful!

Great secluded tent camping (recomend numbers 7 and 8), cabins are new and ample beds and space. Camper camping is close to everything, but less privacy. Numerous pavilions that are wonderful for parties or weddings. Stunning overlook that is breathtaking (also great for weddings). Hiking, bike trails, fishing pond, playground, open fields for sports, much more!!! Great for photo shoots, weekend stress getaways etc. I live close by and visit a few times a month.

Just minutes from downtown, Canandaigua City Park Campground offers easy access to local shops and the lakefront beach, making it a convenient base for those who want town amenities within walking distance. Letchworth State Park Campground

    Hidden gem

My husband and I just got our first camping setup (tent). Letchworth was a wonderful first experience together. The campground can be almost 15 miles from the entrance of the park at points, but we just asked someone at the visitors center and found it easily after that. The restrooms are all well kept regardless of being updated or not and the campground as a whole is very quiet. There are very active raccoons and skunks that have been pretty domesticated, so putting away food is very very important. The skunks also are not easily startled. The only downside was a large group of young guys that were being really loud and obnoxious well into quiet hours our last night, but it was nothing my pair of earplugs couldn’t fix. Also probably wouldn’t have even heard them if we were in a camper rather than a tent. Overall, it was exactly what we wanted and needed. We will absolutely be back!

Guide to Honeoye Falls

The Honeoye Falls area, located in the Finger Lakes region of New York, sits at approximately 600 feet elevation with a climate that offers distinct seasonal experiences for campers. Winter temperatures frequently drop below freezing, making heated accommodations like yurts particularly valuable for off-season camping trips. The region features a mix of hardwood forests and rolling hills with several campgrounds offering direct access to regional trail systems.

What to do

Wildlife watching opportunities: Letchworth State Park Campground offers excellent bird watching throughout its wooded areas. "The park itself is fantastic. The campgrounds are basic and very nice given the relatively high popularity... all are close to the gorge/river and wooded, and connect to trails directly from your campsite," notes Harry H., highlighting the integration of campsites with natural surroundings.

Fishing in stocked ponds: Multiple parks in the region maintain fishing areas where success rates are high, even for beginners. "There is a pond where the fish are easy to catch with hotdogs!" Amy T. mentions about her experience at Canandaigua-Rochester KOA, making it an ideal activity for novice anglers.

Winter recreation: For cold-weather camping, several parks maintain groomed cross-country ski trails accessible directly from camping areas. At Webster Park, winter campers appreciate the quiet season. One visitor noted the park has "great place to go for the day. enjoy a nature hike and have a relaxing day," which applies to both warm and cold seasons.

What campers like

Spacious and private sites: Sampson State Park Campground receives consistent praise for its site layout. "Beautiful. Spacious campsites, electric and water hook ups. Bathhouses are clean," says Michele D., reflecting the general sentiment about site quality.

Clean facilities: The upkeep of bathroom and shower facilities stands out in reviews across multiple parks. At The Ridge Campsite, visitors specifically mention "Clean facilities" as a highlight, with one reviewer adding, "Campground is large and spacious. Family owned. Large mature trees."

Year-round yurt options: Yurt camping near Honeoye Falls, New York allows visitors to experience the region in any season. "Quiet relaxing atmosphere, lots of hiking trails and family friendly with parks and a pool for the kids to play," explains Lisa M. about the accommodations at Letchworth, which complements the yurt options in the region.

What you should know

Reservation timing: The popularity of yurt camping in Honeoye Falls area parks means planning ahead is essential, particularly for peak seasons. "This is a JEWEL. Book early. Bring your hiking shoes & camera," advises Rebecca E. about Letchworth State Park, a recommendation that applies to most parks in the region.

Seasonal variations in water access: Parks with water activities have different operational calendars. At Sampson State Park, facilities include a "Nice little beach and swimming area; water was very clean" according to Stephanie C., but these are typically only available from late May through early September.

Campsite proximity variations: Site privacy differs significantly between parks and even between loops within the same park. At Canandaigua-Rochester KOA, a visitor observed that "sites are small" while at other parks like Ontario County, tent sites offer more separation.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: When selecting a campsite with children, consider proximity to play areas. "Quiet campground. Lots of plays areas for kids," notes Sydney W. about Southwoods RV Resort, highlighting the importance of recreational facilities for younger campers.

Activity scheduling: Many parks run organized family programs during summer months. At Southwoods RV Resort, "Lots of activities almost every weekend" according to Tyler G., making it easier to keep children engaged throughout your stay.

Multi-generational accommodations: Consider booking both yurts and traditional sites if traveling with extended family. "We stayed in August and we really enjoyed the setup and location of all the amenities this campground has," shares Rich L., who appreciated the diverse accommodation options that could satisfy different comfort requirements within the same group.

Tips from RVers

Hookup locations: At many parks, utility connections may require extended hoses or cables. "Electric service boxes are shared in-between sites. This could pose an issue if your power cord is not long enough," warns Amanda K. about her experience at Sampson State Park Campground.

Water fill-up logistics: Some parks have limited water fill stations that can create bottlenecks. "There is only source for water fill up. This could end up being a very very long wait if you arrive at the same time as other campers," notes the same reviewer about Sampson State Park, a factor to consider when planning arrival times.

Leveling requirements: Prepare with adequate leveling equipment as site conditions vary. At Webster Park, Jonathan G. advises, "make sure to bring plenty of leveling blocks as some sites are far from level," a practical tip for maintaining comfort in an RV.
