Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Amagansett, NY

Hither Hills State Park Campground accommodates pets at sites throughout its beachfront property. Cedar Point County Park, Theodore Roosevelt County Park, and North Fork Cottages & RV Resort also welcome dogs at their camping facilities. Campgrounds have basic pet amenities including potable water access and waste disposal areas. Most sites require pets to be leashed at all times, with leash lengths typically restricted to six feet. ['The beach is amazingly close and the town is a nice bicycle ride away.'] Pet owners should note that some campground bathhouses don't have designated pet washing stations, though water spigots are available near sites for rinsing sandy paws. Campground pet policies generally allow 2-3 pets per site without breed restrictions, though aggressive behavior is grounds for removal. Site types accepting pets include tent camping areas, RV spaces with hookups, and at select locations, pet-friendly cabins.

Walking trails surrounding Cedar Point County Park provide excellent pet exercise opportunities with scenic water views. The shoreline areas offer sandy beaches where leashed pets can enjoy water access during appropriate seasons. Montauk Point State Park, a short drive from Hither Hills, features additional pet-friendly walking paths with ocean views. Summer visitors should be aware of hot pavement potentially burning paw pads during peak afternoon hours. Multiple campgrounds enforce quiet hours from 10pm-7am when excessive barking must be controlled. Most sites have adequate space between neighbors, though privacy is limited at Hither Hills where neighbors are 3-5 feet away. The Montauk area provides essential pet services including a veterinary clinic approximately 5 miles from Hither Hills and pet supply options in town. Campers report the J section at Hither Hills offers stunning views with slightly more space between sites, making it preferable for those camping with active dogs.

    Waters Edge Family Campground

    Incredible campground

Most amazing weekend with tons of woods (privacy is huge for us). Very friendly guests and staff! Amazing weekend with lots of fun for the kids and even the dogs! We’ve been to campgrounds with playgrounds worse than the waters edge dog park. Every one of us had a great time with the perfect campsite deep in the woods (still able to park my 26’ camper trailer). Swimming pool, great playground, among lots of trails and wooded area surrounding almost every site. Best camping weekends we’ve ever had have been at Waters Edge.

    Ashaway RV Resort

    Rude Staff

Standard crabgrass parking lot with drunks driving around on golf carts and RV's stacked on top of each other. The woman who runs the office is a very angry person and it made the entire visit unpleasant, which is no surprise as she has been hostile and unwelcoming the several times I've visited. Pool looks nice though I guess, I've never dared to use it for fear of breaking one of the many unwritten and unspoken rules. A great place for people who enjoy eating dinner next to your neighbor's septic pipe. I called to ask if they allowed dogs and was told "NO" just to arrive and be asked to park next to the dog park.

    Whispering Pines Campground

    Great family campground

We stayed for 3 nights, the sites and camp were very clean and well maintained. Everyone was very friendly, lots of things to do - pool, bocce, volleyball, horseshoes, arcade, a small field to play frisbee or ball, mini-golf (mini-golf landscape needs to be refreshed a bit) there is even a very small fenced in dog park which was nice if you want to let your dog off leash to play. We did not experience any screaming kids all night.

    Mystic KOA

    Very nice

    Somewhat crowded

staff was very nice. Lots of places around to go sightseeing. Most of the area isn’t dog friendly, so be careful if you take your pet. No problem at the campground

    Totoket Valley RV Park

    Perfect for a stop over

Small campground with good electrical, clean water, sewer and a friendly owner. Each site has grass and a picnic table. There is a wonderful little frozen custard shop down the road called roses farm stand. It’s a perfect campground for seeing the local area or even catching the train to New York City.

    Sears Bellows County Park

    Relaxing-Good for your whole family!

Sears Bellows in New York is a lot of fun. It really does offer a lot of outdoor activities for you and your family. I have stayed at this campsite 1 time, and stayed 2 nights. This campground does offer tent sites as well as RV/trailer sites. When I went with my friends in college, we just stayed in the tent sites and really enjoyed it. The campground is very well kept and clean which I really liked. They do have quite a bit of garbage's to dump your trash in. One thing I really liked about this campground is that there was a river/pond close by (Bellows Pond). The first night I stayed here my friends and I rented some rowboats and went on the water. It was a lot of fun, and the price of the rowboat was pretty cheap. The next morning we got up and did some hiking. The trails were beautiful, and the flowers were in bloom. There were people who were also biking on these trails, which looked like so much fun! We also saw some people fishing in the pond- and it seemed like most people were catching. The people who stayed in the campsite next to us were cooking up some type of fish for their dinner that they caught that day. One thing to note is that there are not any electrical hook-ups, so if that is something you need you might now want to come stay here. I would love to come back here someday, but stay maybe a day or two longer to do more things- I would also bring my bike and fishing pole to do more outdoor activities. I would also advise to rent the rowboats because that was a lot of fun!

    Mount Misery Campground

    One of our favorites!

we love camping at Mount Misery! The sites are private, it’s usually pretty quiet, and it’s one of the only campgrounds around that is pet-friendly. We always have a good time!!
