"Drawback is 10 minute walk to the general store/ranger station and 5 minutes to the beach (10 to swimming area).
Almost no cell service! 2 bars was the maximum and finding that was rare."
"Hither Hills campground is clean, well run and is just one dune away from an incredible stretch of beach."
$10 - $26 / night
"Bathhouse with showers and dishwashing was close by. Plenty of space to walk and hike out to the lighthouse, kayak, biking or just relax. Will be next year!"
"We have walked in and book a site. Twice though in June we had tons of ticks 😬 but overall is a good site!"
"The beach is about a 1 mile walk or drive from the campground. The walk is lovely and I have seen deer, turkeys, many birds, skunks, raccoons, and other wildlife along the way."
"Located right off I95 ( which you can hear at times), the park is convenient to all the major interstates and state roads."
$20 - $70 / night
"Beautiful Connecticut beach sits just steps away from your campsite. Well kept showers and bathrooms are abundant and the camp store has the majority of what you need."
"This campsite is near the shore in my home state of CT. It took a little over an hour to get here. Our spot was near a large salt marsh."

"My parents stayed in a bunkhouse and my husband and I stayed on the adjacent site. Bunkhouse is very basic but clean. Sites are well spaced with lots of types to choose from."
"There's a small beach at the pond, a boat ramp, and proximity to wildlife refuges and the ocean. It's a HUGE campground, with 700 sites and 20 cabins. Canoes are available to rent."
"Close to level parking pad, with table and very nice brick firepit. Sites not too close together. I had woods behind me. I would definitely camp here again."
"This KOA Niantic CT location is about 2 hours from home. It was the perfect place (not far from home) to practice. "

"Which was walking distance from the boat yard.
Had a bite to eat at the Blue Duck, it was fine. Saw the show and walk back to the boat yard."
"Easy access to the boatyard at night; pulled in, picked a spot and all good.
Enjoyed the pool.
Walked to Fort Trumbull.
Recommend Crockers."
Small campground and the sites are close together I’ve stayed in site 8 and 11, seems like site 9 may be the best since only site 8 is directly next to it though. No amenities other than porta potty’s. The state park is nice but the campground isn’t the best, one of my visits the site next to me was playing music from their car radio the whole day
The host were very responsive to questions and communication. We had a day delay due to a mechanical problem. They completely understood and made our funds available for another date of our choice based on availability. We were able to stay there the next evening.
Very concise directions on how to get into the property after the office is closed. We backed right up to the waters edge practically. The people that dock here were so friendly and welcoming. The pool is very clean as are the bathrooms and showers.
We feel very safe & secure staying here. Ice is available; cash only.
We stayed one night on the way to Cape Cod, but we will definitely be back in the near future.
I look forward to seeing what’s in the marina store before we leave.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Crockers Boatyard. Very friendly and helpful staff, great location, security gated after hours. Had water and 50 amp hookup. Very convenient to many attractions and restaurants. We ate at Norms Diner, Captain Scott’s and Paul’s Pasta. Easy access from I95. Would highly recommend.
Easy check in right at front gate, Didn’t even have to get out of the truck. Was handed map and daily activity list. Lots of things for kids to do. We watched a magician and played pickle ball on the courts. Kids had fun on the many play grounds. It was a bit too cold outside but the pools and hot tubs looked nice. Splash pad was clean and used by kids. Lots of roads to bike on and walk dogs. Live band on Saturday night was nice. Site was wide and allowed me to easily back in. Near perfect level. New fence poles show renovations were consistently done. Two easy dump stations with nice clean area.
Loved watching the boats being moved into the water. Close to everything we wanted to see in New London. Heavy traffic on the street but quieted down at night.
I've been going to this campground every summer for at least 5 years. Recently they became very stringent about parking to vehicles at the site making it very difficult to visit with a family and 2 vehicles. I usually host group camping trips and the single vehicle rule makes that very difficult.
That aside, this is a very nice campground with various kinds of sites. You can find sites that are less wooded and better suited to group camping, as well as sites that are a little more secluded. This is one of my favorite campgrounds solely because there are platform sites so I can place my tent on a concrete or wooden platform. There is a separate area for RVs vs tents. There is also a store where you can get a cup of coffee in the morning and lots of goodies throughout the day.
There are hiking trails and you can walk to the beach. Note - it is a downhill walk to the beach. The beach is fairly clean and has a small boardwalk.
There are lots of stores nearby as well as orchards to pick your own fruits. I stayed there one weekend and went to Splish Splash waterpark that's not far away. There is also a Tanger Outlet nearby. I've been there during a full on thunderstorm and watched as the trees swayed in the wind.
Lovely campground with lots of activities to entertain you.
We stayed at Aces High RV Park for a long holiday weekend to visit with our daughter in Connecticut. We paid$150/night for a‘Premium Waterfront FHU Site’ on the lake. A bit pricey, but really nice site including level concrete pad and patio, clean and well-maintained utilities, and beautiful view.
THINGS I LIKED:
Clean, well-maintained, and level site with concrete pad and patio(I love a clean, level concrete pad!).
Utility hookups were in great condition and everything worked as it should (other parks should come and take a look at how to do this right).
Beautiful pond and natural setting with lots of ducks, geese, chickens, and wild birds.
20-minutes drive to Mystic and all the touristy stuff to see and do.
The whole park is quiet and nicely-maintained. You might say that it should be for$150 per night, but we all know that not all parks are- even at higher prices.
THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE SO MUCH:
WOULD WE COME BACK?
Good tent platforms, picnic tables and outhouse. CT river within view. Good site
Had a great time solo Motocamping here! The site aren’t too close, although I did hear some people through the evening. Once quiet time hit, you could hear a pin drop! Great place to stay.
