Several RV parks near Elsinboro offer full-hookup sites, with most open seasonally from spring through fall. Mays Landing Resort features big rig-friendly sites with water, electric, and sewer connections, operating from April to November. King Nummy Trail Campground provides fifty-amp electric service and spacious pull-through RV pads for larger motorhomes, though pets are not permitted. "The sites are mostly back-in sites. All the sites at the top were just as awesome!" noted one traveler who stayed at a nearby park with their 31-foot travel trailer. Sun Retreats Seashore Campsites & RV Resort in Cape May accommodates large motorhomes with full hookups on gravel sites, though some travelers report tight spacing between neighboring RVs.

Navigation to certain campgrounds requires careful planning, as some entrances wind through residential neighborhoods with tight turns challenging for larger motorhomes. During peak summer months, advance reservations are essential, particularly for weekend stays when occupancy reaches capacity. Most RV parks in the region provide sanitary dump stations, though quality varies considerably. "The worst was the dump station. It is just a little hole on the side of the road and the ONLY dump station for the 3 campgrounds! It was very unlevel and not easy to fully dump our tanks," reported one RV owner. Cell service fluctuates throughout the area, with Verizon generally providing better coverage than AT&T or T-Mobile. Many parks offer onsite stores with basic supplies, firewood, and propane, though prices tend to be higher than nearby town centers.

      3.8(16)47mi from ElsinboroRVs, Cabins

"There was a craft show in the barn which was nice. Only two dump stations for a pretty large park. We would camp here again but not over a holiday."

"The campsites available are primitive or have water and electric and bathhouses / restrooms are located in a few spots around the park. Fire rings are at each site, but appear to get moved a lot."

      2. Sun Retreats Seashore Campsites & RV Resort

3.7(18)49mi from ElsinboroRVs, Tents, Cabins, Glamping

"Tent site was fantastic, level, trees are well trimmed, but still with good coverage, sites are a nice size. Close enough to the bathroom and water options. Campground well appointed."

"It is nearly impossible to not disturb neighbors with slide outs, noise, etc. as the sites are barely wide enough for a camper and a picnic table."

      3. Mays Landing Resort

3.1(8)38mi from ElsinboroRVs, Tents, Cabins, Glamping

"We stayed in the small tent loop at this private, primarily RV resort. First, the good stuff: The tent loop was empty for our 5 night stay with the exception of night 1. We were at site F17."

"The onsite stores prices were very inexpensive which surprised me. Halloween decorations were the best. The playground was great my daughter really enjoyed the scavenger hunt."

      4.3(4)44mi from ElsinboroRVs, Cabins

      Belleplain State Forest

      Quiet, Clean and Friendly

We stayed at the group site campground with our horse.  We found the sites to be large, and  clean.  The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they have fall activities for the family, at the lake and nature hikes.  The porta potty's are very clean, have hand sanitizer and plenty of paper.   Will be returning again in a few weeks.  Plenty of trails to ride on.  A true gem in our own backyard.

      Country Acres Campground

      Lovely campground!

Country Acres is a lovely, well maintained campground. Sites are level and bath house facilities clean and modern. Friendly staff in the office. Dog friendly. Local to all the Lancaster attractions. A complimentary farmland tour is offered by bus and it was great. They take you out into an area of Amish farms and shops and make a stop at 2 of these. The fresh Amish pretzels are amazing!

      Colonial Meadows Family Campground

      Great park

Many long term seasonal sites. Good community. Large shower house good and clean . Pool. Game room. Off leash dog park. Wooded/shady sites or no shade sunny sites. Lots of area to walk or play. Large field, basketball couture, frisky golf, play area and laundry room. We were here all summer (June-october). Lots to do in the area. Good food nearby. Ocean city 10 minutes away.

      Ocean View Resort Campground

One of the best campgrounds I have ever stayed in

This is one of the largest, if not the largest, campgrounds in Southern New Jersey. While on the pricier side, everything is top-notch. The roads are all paved, and not gravel (I hate trying to sleep and listening to the sound of stones grating together). The sites are more spacious than most campgrounds, so it doesn't seem so crowded. The bathrooms are all modern and spotless. There are numerous bathrooms which means most sites have one nearby. They do charge a quarter for showers to encourage water conservation and donate the money to conservation causes. The pool is large, as is the lake. Both are well-maintained. The camp store is enormous and is really nice and well-stocked with everything one might need from food to pool and beach stuff to camping supplies and equipment. There is a nice cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. The camp store has a lending library of books and DVDs. There are numerous activities that appear to be well-run, The grounds are shaded with many trees for a great wooded campground feel. The campground is so large that it has an internal shuttle with stations scattered about to help people go between the various important sites such as at the pool, the lake and the store. I found other campers, particularly the seasonals, to be more friendly than other campgrounds at the shore. This requires constant tree care including removing dead trees and branches which they do regularly. The staff is friendly and well-trained. I was in a tent, and when a rare October nor'easter came through, I was offered the opportunity to use a cabin free-of-charge. Fortunately my tent and equipment made it through days of rain and high winds just fine . On my first stay in May, I had to run my dog back to Baltimore towards the end of my trip where he was sadly diagnosed with incurable metastatic cancer. When I returned, I was late and unable to check out by 11, but they allowed me to take as much time as needed to clear the site, as nobody was staying there the next day, which was deeply appreciated - I was an emotional wreck. Oh, and I found the complimentary Wi-Fi to be a great service, and sufficiently fast to allow me to stream ultra-high-definition movies at my site - Most campgrounds charge extra for less-than-good service - a lot more. I find that a big bonus. Overall, I LOVE this campground and highly recommend it.

Atsion Family Camp — Wharton State Forest

      Pine Barrens New Jersey

This campground is part of the Wharton State Forest and has several campgrounds in the area. Great wooded sites right on a lake. Pretty good separation between sites with good tree separation between sites. Some road noise not overly affecting site.

      Beacon Hill Camping

      Great location

We stayed here to go to the Hershey RV show—about 55 min drive. Right in the center of Amish country. Campground is adults only. It was very clean. The bathrooms were very clean with great water pressure. The roads are tight for getting into sites. Site 5 was not level side to side. We met great people there.

      Country Acres Campground

      Excellent But.

The campground is in excellent condition. The facilities are top notch. The excellence and care of the campground is evident. The 4 stars is only due to the road noise and many of the sites are on top of each other. You feel like your neighbor is at your camp fire.

Don’t go unless you want harassment

My check in was for 8-6-2026, and bc I’m a new driver and wanted to beat traffic I got there early (7am) so I sit there waiting till check in time. When suddenly the park police show up. He’s accusing me of camping over night there. I told him simply I wasn’t and where I was night prior (would never sleep somewhere without permission). So we go to the store to kill time before we check in. Come back for Check in and the whole staff in just the office alone were so arrogant and cold to my mom and I, leaving rude comments to us and not only where they like that but the staff outside the office was acting like that alongside the rangers and park police. They would watch us the whole visit in the distance parking there cars a little ways watching everything we did, even driving by slowly a bunch of times in just an hour alone. My mom and I couldn’t do anything with out them showing up 2 mins later. Example we were walking our dog enjoying our time(trying to) and all of a sudden one of the office ladies pulls up right in front of us speeding, parks their car, gets out and walks a distance from us standing there and taking pictures of us…. For walking our dog who’s on a leash and didn’t even do anything. The whole trip we felt uncomfortable and unwanted and to find out they police when we were going on walks where coming up to campers near us bribing them with free firewood to get any information on use (told to us by other camper). I paid a lot of money to be harassed and followed the whole time. We never did anything we abide by every rule and keep to ourselves everywhere we go. They even made my mother cry…

    Guide to Elsinboro

Rv sites near Elsinboro, New Jersey typically operate from April through October, with most closing after Halloween. The climate in this coastal region features humid summers with temperatures averaging 85°F and mild spring and fall seasons ideal for camping. Sandy soil conditions throughout the area can create drainage challenges during the region's frequent summer thunderstorms.

    What to do

Beach access: 10-15 minutes from most Elsinboro area campgrounds to Cape May beaches, where campers can enjoy swimming and sunbathing. "The beach is within 10ish minutes and is beautiful but you're supposed to have passes, we biked around the area and along the beach it was very nice," notes a visitor at Thousand Trails Lake & Shore.

Fishing and boating: Many campgrounds offer pond or lake fishing, with some providing dock access. At Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina, "You can fish from your chair. Kayak rentals, boat slips... There is also a Waffle House around the corner.... That in itself is worth the trip!"

Mini golf and recreation: Available at several campgrounds for family entertainment. "Mini golf was fun but need to be regreened...several holes needed maintenance. Lots of sports gear available for free to use within park, has to be returned by 5 when main office closes," according to a camper at Spring Gulch Resort Campground.

    What campers like

Lake swimming options: Many campgrounds feature small lakes with beach areas as alternatives to ocean beaches. At Sun Retreats Avalon, "We had perfect weather at this nice campground. Sites were sandy. There was foliage between sites though they were close together."

Well-maintained pools: Most campgrounds in the area offer swimming pools with varying amenities. "Pros love the pool, lake, waterslides, and proximity to cape may," mentions a reviewer at Thousand Trails Sea Pines, though they note some maintenance concerns.

Proximity to attractions: Easy access to Cape May, Wildwood, and local wineries makes these campgrounds popular bases for exploration. At King Nummy Trail Campground, campers appreciate the "Great location close to Cape May and Wildwood. Clean facilities."

    What you should know

Seasonal camper presence: Many campgrounds have a high percentage of seasonal residents, which can affect the experience. "It's more of a closed net group of people as we rarely had anyone wave to us. It just wasn't as friendly as so many other sites," reports a camper at Mays Landing Resort.

Varying site conditions: Sites at RV parks near Elsinboro can range significantly in quality and levelness. "Sites are very unleveled so the staff switched us to a pull thru space that was a tad bit more level but still very unleveled," noted one camper at Mays Landing Resort.

Golf cart traffic: Many campers report concerns about golf cart usage. "The golf carts were the absolute worst, people don't obey the speed limit on these things (and there are a lot of them whizzing around...) Many were driven by underage kids (against rules, but clearly not enforced)," according to a reviewer at Sun Retreats Seashore Campsites & RV Resort.

    Tips for camping with families

Consider cabin options: For families with young children, cabins provide comfort while maintaining a camping experience. At Spring Gulch Resort Campground, "Campsites available are primitive or have water and electric and bathhouses/restrooms are located in a few spots around the park. Some cabins are brand new and have everything you would need to set up house minus linens, towels, toilet paper, paper goods and toiletries."

Watch for bug activity: Mosquitoes can be problematic in this coastal region, especially near standing water. "The mosquitos were INSANE!" reported one tent camper at Sun Retreats Seashore Campsites & RV Resort.

Check campground rules: Regulations vary significantly between parks, particularly regarding quiet hours and amenity access. "The rules are a little over the top for us... when I say the people at this campground were a little extra, I mean it," observed a visitor at Thousand Trails Lake & Shore.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection challenges: Many RV parks in the Elsinboro region have tight sites with obstacles. "We stayed in site 402a and it was a nightmare backing in and getting out of. We have a 42 ft 5th wheel but the website said it could accommodate the size. The bad thing is that there are trees all the way up to the street which limits your turn radius as well as cement marker poles," warns a reviewer at Sun Retreats Avalon.

Entrance navigation: Some campgrounds have challenging entrances. "The park is a little run down and spots are super crowded with really narrow, winding streets. It was a maze," notes a camper about Mays Landing Resort.

Seasonal facility limitations: Off-season visitors should verify which amenities are operating. "We came in late September so the pool was closed but the lake side beach was still open. The camp store has limited offerings, was not open on Mon and Tue, and closed at 4. This may have been because we were late in the season."
