GuideFor a smaller campground it was everything we wanted; it was quiet; and the sites were a good size for our pop up; we stayed at site 20; which was the biggest along the waterfront. There is a nice walking trail and peaceful water view sites. The staff was super friendly and made our stay very enjoyable! Sites of all sizes from tent sites to large pull through sites for the big rigs! We will deff be back! Smaller camp store but there is a hardware/general store right down the road. Close to ATV trails. Ports potties were exceptionally clean. Propane is also sold on site. Pet friendly with appropriate documentation. I look forward to our next trip!
GuideMy husband and I are seniors and spent 3 nights, Tuesday to Friday in June on site 51. Abel Mtn. Campground was easy enough to find. We have a 21' travel trailer and took advantage of the full hookups that most of the sites provide, including our first time using cable TV. As everyone else who reviews this place said, the owners are the first pleasure you find there. There's a heated pool, strong WiFi at your site, tons of clean river sites, immaculate rest rooms with an accessible ramp and lots of showers. For activities, you can hike on trails across the foot bridge and fish in many places along the river. They recycle everything possible and even provide composting of plant based waste. We have rarely found a returnable bottles and cans container so finding that and even composting is a notch well above the competition. Being the middle of June, there were no kids around but the photos and the two playgrounds tell us kids must love the place. Sites are back-in and very level on gravel pads. We highly recommend the place. Oh and a word to the wise, you will hear a train go by somewhere and the whistle will wake you up but no worries, it's all part of the ambiance.
GuideThis is a solid, family-friendly campground. It has the standard amenities plus some fun extras (arcade, mini-golf, boat rentals, etc.). However, all amenities are in worn shape. The playground is approaching dangerous, for instance (metal pipe sticking out of sandbox?) and the arcade was largely broken (ate a lot of quarters). Granted we were there for the last weekend of the camping season, but these appear to be longer term issues.
The camp store was great. Service was helpful and friendly.

The sites are spacious enough, but are very close to each other. Zero buffer between neighboring sites means encroaching slide outs.
Cell services on ATT and TMobile were nonexistent. Campground WiFi is a joke (less than 1mbps).

LegendI haven't stayed here, but I checked it out on Columbus Day weekend because it's one of the few campgrounds open year-round (plowed, unlike Lafayette Place, which is walk-in) in the White Mountains. Most of the reviews talk about the walk-in tent sites, but there's more to this campground that is located along the Kancamagus Highway just before the Lincoln Woods Visitors' Center.
If you're a tent camper and don't mind carrying your gear downhill to a site, drive straight ahead to a parking lot. A few of the sites (3 & 4) are accessible from the far end of the parking lot, but for most of them you'll head down the steps in the middle with sites in two levels branching out on each side. Sites are large, but close together and although you're in the woods, there's not much to separate you from your neighbors. Even sites 10-20 are directly on the water.
Sites 22-55 are suitable for RVs and tents. Those on the back side of the loop are close enough that you can hear the Pemi River running below. A few of the sites are pull-through. There are no hook-ups, but water available via spigots and flush toilets are available - except in winter. I'd recommend sites on the back side of the loop to provide some more distance from traffic noise. I chatted briefly with a host who remarked that sites on the western end of the loop have some cell phone coverage, unlike the rest of the campground.
If you stay here, you're only a few miles from Lincoln where you can pick up any necessary supplies. This end of the Kanc your nearest hiking options are Lincoln Woods and Greeley Pond for family friendly trails, or Lincoln Woods to head into the Pemi wilderness, including peaks in the Pemi loop and Owl's Head. The Hancocks are via a trail at the hairpin on the Kanc. Franconia Notch and its many hiking trails and the multi-use trail are a short drive away.
Bring cash or a check to pay your camping fee in the iron ranger. Fees cover the first vehicle; a second vehicle is an additional $5.
GuideWe enjoyed our stay at Newfound RV Park thanks to their laundry facilities, rec room, and quirky owner. It was a great place to explore Newfound lake from, as well as the Mill Fudge Factory. Our site was full hookup and a pull through site. We used a Passport America discount here.
RangerThe campground has a gravel area at the sites where the fire ring and picnic tables are. Where we parked our trailer was some gravel sand and dirt. We were at the end of a lane, backing in was fine we are small, 21 feet including tongue, we fit fine. Great site across from a beach, on French Pond I’m guessing is at least 25 acres. Most of the sights are long term. Camp was pretty much full, even then it was quiet. Restroom closed to covid, some campgrounds kept them open and just cleaned more. Well no complaint here we’re self contained. Some areas could use some tidying up. Still I would gladly stay here again.
GuideThe Campground has a nice staff, a very well appointed general store, laundry, arcade, marina with boat rentals, mini theater, and indoor mini put. Most of the sites are wooded and nice. Somehow we managed to get the one pull through spot that was at the end and harder to get in. I was surprised how much road noise we heard inside of our trailer. The internet speed fluxuates and was slow to unusable our last day. I could not get the cable TV working. All in all it is a nice Campground and most of it (the back in spaces) look nice and wooded. I would stay here again despite the small inconveniences but I would definately pick a different camp site. Again, you will hear some road noise.
ScoutThis past holiday weekend we went to the campground. Upon arrival the owner made me go with them to the site and leave the motorhome blocking the entrance into the campground. The roads aren’t wide enough to take a motorhome into. The pull through site is not level and is barely long enough to fit my 43’ rig (with my motorcycle lift). The owner was very unfriendly. Driving out of the site was just as bad. You have to go down a small hill and bottom out the front and then drag the backend out of the dirt. This campground is not big rig friendly.
LegendThis KOA is what you expect from a KOA– lots of amenities, sites of all sizes and levels of cost, tons of activities, and in a vacation destination area. We spent five nights at the campground and found lots to do in the area and that we had an enjoyable and pleasant stay.
The park is a large park that is terraced since it is in a pretty hilly area. There is the range of sites from pull-thrus, pull-ins and back-in sites and can accommodate RVs of any size. Some sites are full hookup while others are not and that is reflected in the cost. We paid $57/nigh for our full hookup site which is pretty costly especially since we did not use any of the amenities. Most sites are gravel with gravel patios but there are deluxe sites with paved patios, patio furniture, umbrella, and gas bbq grill. There are also camping cabins, some of which have kitchenettes and bathrooms that sleep six people.
Our site, was located in the back of the park in a quieter section because it was away from most of the activities and park entrance. The site was a pull-in which was kind of nice because the view out of our front windshield was of a wooded area. Our fire pit was in the front of our site so there was a nice amount of privacy when we sat outside by a campfire and didn’t feel like we were on the side of the road. Despite the hilliness of the park and all the trees, we did not have any trouble navigating our 45’ RV to our site. The trees at our site would prevent satellite television reception but our site had cable and we got about 20 or so channels. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Like many KOAs there are tons of amenities and things for kids to do – swimming pool, fishing ponds, bike rental, scheduled activities, propane sales, camp store, fire wood delivery, and more. There is a fenced dog park which was a fairly good size and our lab was happy to chase a ball.
As a whole, the park was very clean and manicured. No trash laying around and the gravel roads were free of potholes. The campground is located near the Queechee Gorge, covered bridges, hiking trails (including sections of the Appalachian Trail), good dining, maple syrup/cheese farm, the Marsh Billings- Rockefeller National Historic Park.
