Disappointed

My family and I’s experience at Northstar Campgrounds was disappointing and fell far below our expectations. During our stay, an individual who identified himself as Chad approached us and asked us to be quiet, despite it being approximately an hour and a half before the official quiet hours, which begin at 11:00 PM. Chad claimed that our children were too loud while playing, even though their noise level was a little loud, they were simply enjoying their time at this campground. Additionally, Chad consistently stated in his argument that he heard us by the bridge, which is located roughly 300 feet away from our site. This whole entire excuse was ridiculous as one of my friends, who was coming back from the bathroom(which is about 50 feet), said that our music was barely noticeable and perfectly fine and reasonably within our site. What was particularly frustrating was the timing and tone of the interaction. Approaching guests almost two hours before quiet hours, and implying that the noise was unacceptable at that time, felt unnecessary and overly strict. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere and made us feel unwelcome, especially since we had been respectful of the campground rules prior to this. Additionally, there was a lack of clear communication about the campground's policies and a seeming inflexibility that negatively impacted our overall experience. As a family, we value a relaxed and friendly environment, and this incident certainly detracted from that expectation. Regrettably, based on this encounter, I cannot recommend Northstar Campgrounds for families or anyone seeking a peaceful and welcoming outdoor experience with their kids. We hope management will consider giving their valued guests a more memorable, and fun experience.

Just okay

The owners are very nice but the sites are super close together. We had neighbors that had a large party 4 ft from our camper for two days. The showers cost .50 and are luke warm, definitely not hot. Only 4 shower stalls (2 men 2 female) for the whole campground. The bathrooms weren't cleaned during the 2 days we were there. The country side is beautiful and Newport is a cute little town. We won't stay at the campground again.

Room for improvement

Jen who took mine and my cousins reservation was friendly and assured us we could camp together. The lady who checked us in was not Jen and seemed upset that we asked if it was her we booked with. I think we should have been shifted over 1-2 sites to achieve what we asked for, but it was still a fun time down on the river. Tenters next door lit off fireworks (which we didn't care, but warned the dogs would bark) the next day around 10-11 am we get a "warning" about dogs keeping people up...... No mention of the fireworks or the other dogs at neighboring sites barking as well, nor the kids that rode thru sites and occasionally the dogs would let out a bark when they saw them. The dogs were never left unattended, someone was always with them if they weren't down at the water with us. If you don't want dogs then say so, if you're going to allow fireworks then don't be upset when the dogs bark with the fireworks. We would consider giving another chance given the river area was nice, a few fish were caught and the sites themselves were good, nice and shaded. Dump stations not in great locations though.

GREAT CAMPGROUND

My husband and I spent Memorial Day weekend here. It was our first time camping here. We had a spacious site w/water and electric next to the Sugar River. We enjoyed our time here and will definitely go back. Due to Covid-19 the bathrooms were not open so that’s something I can’t give info on.
