Fifteen primitive lakeside campsites are available along Upper Pahranagat Lake. Sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. They are free of charge, though a donation box is provided at the registration kiosk if you choose to make a contribution. The refuge may reserve sites for youth groups participating in a service project as part of their stay. If you'd like to organize a service project, contact the Visitor Services Specialist at 775-725-3417 ext. 101.
Several of the sites can accommodate multiple tents, camping trailers, or RVs. No electrical, water or waste treatment facilities are available. Vault toilets (no flush) are provided. Visitors may stay for a maximum of fourteen days within a 31 day period. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am. Generators are allowed, but if the generator is noisy it should be shut down overnight to respect other campers.
Fires are allowed only in provided grills and fire pits. Please do not construct rock fire rings.
Baker Creek Campground contains 37 campsites. All sites are available, when the campground is open (seasons permitting), on a first-come-first-served basis. Potable water is not available.

Glamping Adventures— the name itself evokes images of luxury and customer-centric experiences. However, my recent interaction with this company has shattered any illusion of professionalism or integrity they might claim to possess. I booked a glamping experience with Glamping Adventures, enticed by their promises of unique stays and excellent customer service. Little did I know, this would be the beginning of a frustrating and deceitful ordeal. Initially, everything seemed promising. I made a reservation well in advance, excitedly anticipating a getaway that never materialized. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to cancel my reservation and was assured by Glamping Adventures that I would receive an almost full refund if they managed to find a replacement guest. Nef stated he was, indded, able to find a gust to take my spot. Here's where the nightmare began. What followed was outright negligence and disrespect for a paying customer. My subsequent emails were met with radio silence. It seemed as though Glamping Adventures had conveniently chosen to disappear rather than fulfill their promise or even communicate honestly. I have kept meticulous records of every interaction— emails detailing their refund policy, promises made and subsequently broken, and the growing frustration with their blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. These records serve as irrefutable evidence of Glamping Adventures' unprofessionalism and lack of respect for their customers. In conclusion, if you value your time, money, and sanity, steer clear of Glamping Adventures. Their enticing promises of a luxurious outdoor experience are nothing but a façade for poor business practices and outright dishonesty. The charm of glamping is tarnished when the company behind it fails to uphold basic standards of customer service and transparency. I urge potential customers to learn from my unfortunate experience and choose a reputable company that values its patrons. Glamping Adventures has lost not only a customer but any semblance of credibility they might have once had.

Nice little campground toward the mouth of Big Creek Canyon. The campground is right on the creek. Big Creek Canyon is beautiful about 15 miles from the town of Austin and is full of Aspens. There are probably about 10 sites in the campground with plenty of space between each site. Hunting season gets busy but I have never seen more than one or two groups in the campground at one time if it’s not hunting season. There is not a ton of privacy within the campground but there is plenty of space for each campsite. There are trout in the creek and easily accessible depending on how much snow the mountain range got the winter before. The road that goes through Big Creek Canyon is a decent BLM road that will take you to the summit of the range then down into Kingston which is a fun adventure. If you like camping in Nevada but don’t like dry camping or digging holes to use the bathroom, this place is awesome!

GuideNice little campground located in the Cathedral Gorge State Park in Eastern central Nevada. Sites are first come first serve. Each has Electrical hook ups, but no sewer/dump facilities. Bathrooms have running water and a shower which is very nice. The hiking trails are great and provide lots of exploring on the Cathedral Gorge.

ScoutThis was our second Nevada State park campground and it was just as immaculate as the first. The sites were level, groomed, and not a speck of trash to be found. Great Verizon service, no ATT. We didn’t use the bathroom because of covid, but based on the cleanliness of the rest of the place, it was probably perfect. The park is nice, definitely worth a day’s visit. This campground would make a good base for exploring more state parks nearby.

Booked a tent site. The campground was completely full. My fire ring was at the bumper of my vehicle, the picnic table was basically in someone else’s campsite, and I had to walk up a flight of stairs where the tent site was supposed to be. The site on one side of me looked down on top of me from 10 feet away, the RV site next to me was crammed on top of me as well. Their front porch was basically staring right at my site, like I would be there entertainment for the night.
I had planned to camp out of the back of my truck for a quick overnight stay. Lots of better options around.
It is nice that it is walking distance from Zephyr Cove. But Zephyr Cove was packed. Nevada beach was only a four minute drive away and much more spacious and relaxing.
$67, plus taxes and fees, for no services and being packed in like sardines, no thanks.

This is a popular stop near the town of Ely (a couple miles north off the highway; the closest town is actually McGill). Because of its proximity to a major thoroughfare, and I guess what northern Nevada would consider a major town, it seems like it fills up quickly. There isn’t a lot of privacy from neighbors because the foliage is limited and the landscaping is minimal, but it’s clean, relatively quiet, well run, and a good pit stop if you’re making a run across this area of the country.
Recommend that, if you know you’re coming in advance, you go ahead and make reservations at recreation.gov.
There are two pit toilets in a pretty good state of cleanliness. Potable water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Out of the eleven sites total, five are considered group sites and six are considered RV sites (you can car/tent camp here no problem, however).

Not sure even where to begin with this place it has so much to offer once you pull in you see a tropical vibe with amazing RV spots private little shade areas trash cans everywhere, tables at each spot, full hook ups, you can get higher end RV spots with tables and a lot more high-end stuff it has a lot going on like private grills you can get there’s a lot going on for the higher end areas and you also get a lot with just your overnighters but really this RV park has it going on it’s a resort for sure. The pool is so tropical it has a lovely waterfall going into the pool nice hot tub, go inside of the bar and restaurant and enjoy game of bowling, nice gym, gift shop, ice cream for sale in the front, mini golf in the back, literally anything you can think of this place has it going on and it’s absolutely amazing here the staff is awesome, they have appropriate parking when you come to check in so you’re not trying to find a place to park nice pool and sites, get your reservation and then go to your location, they have people driving around maintaining the park at all times. Overall this is an exquisite park close to death Valley, close to area 51, close to Beatty Nevada, not much else you would need from an RV park because they have it all!! For all his dog lovers they have an amazing dog run for your animals and they have bathrooms with shower rinse off at the pool in case you needed to rinse off before going back to your RV also they have event nights going on so check out

I've passed through Goldfield Nevada several times and always wanted to stay long enough to explore it more. In October 2020 I did just that. I wasn't sure exactly when I'd get there so I didn't make a reservation ahead of time but when I got near Goldfield I called around and they had a space available. (I called a few campgrounds and I can't remember if others were full or if this one had the best rates. I think I paid $25/night for three nights. Their rates have increased to $35/night in January 2021 (I called to confirm this.) They do offer lower weekly rates. People were friendly.
It's typical RV park. i.e. You're parked too close to your neighbors. My space was next to the "dog park" which was maybe a 20' x 10' fenced area so I didn't have another RV on that side. That made me happy. Few people actually used the dog park while I was there, They had full hookups. There may have been picnic tables I don't remember. They had showers and a restroom. I liked the location because I could walk just about everywhere. I didn't want to unhitch my trailer for such a short stay.
Overall it was a good stay. I prefer to camp BLM lands because you can spread out and there's a lot of space between you and other campers. I have solar, a composting toilet and running water on board so I'm pretty much self contained off-grid for a week or two. I'd like to explore the nearby BLM camping next time. The disadvantage would be that you'd have to unhitch to go explore the town.

We got in on a Thursday night right around 6:30 pm. We knew we were going to be cutting it close and in our 26 foot rig out of the 10ish spaces that could fit us (some spots are only for vans or tents) only 2 were left so we suggest getting here earlier. We found a space that was available next to another camping couple who were very kind. They were pulling a Bighorn maybe a 28 ft with slides and we both fit in spots 2 and 3 with ease. The road heading in is incredibly washboarded. Stick to the left side of the road if you want a slightly less bumpy ride. Scenery was gorgeous. Lots of shade for Nevada. Amazing view of the stars too! You are close to the highway but at night the road settles down and it was not a problem for us. Being so close to the lake be prepared to be inundated with bugs at night time if you have any lights on at all. Also, people do not seem to pick up after their pets (maybe even themselves?) as the closer you get to vegetation the more poop you’ll see alongside the grass/bushes. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. It is a donation only park and it is first come first serve! We arrived Sept 17th around 6:30 pm with only two spots left and right after we pulled in another van and camper pulled in so I’m pretty sure it was full by 7 pm. Temps were low 60s at night and 85 when we arrived up until about 8:30 pm! Each site is spaced far enough apart where you aren’t necessarily on top of each other (except for our site which was meant for two rv’s)! There are also picnic tables, grills and fire pits at each site.

Enormous group campground. Went for a family gathering. Lots of shade from the gnarly pine trees growing all over the campground. Plenty of spots to hang a hammock or put a tent. Lots of already built seating in the form of stone benches.
Vault toilets were decently clean. Water is usually available but was not when I was there. Fires were also forbidden when I was there as there because of wildfire fears.
Very close to the Mt Charleston North Loop Trail. Since I was with family I did not attempt it (it’s 10+ miles long), but we did go hike at nearby Robber’s Roost which is easy. I have done the North Loop in the past, and the Rain Tree is definitely worth seeing if you can make the hike.

I was extremely excited to win a MuckBoots giftcard from The Dyrt in the June contest for Nevada. After intense deliberation, I decided to go with the Muck Fieldblazer. Although I don’t hunt, I do stomp around in the woods near my grandmother’s in Placerville California. I have also experienced miserable wet and muddy days camping at Mt. Charleston while my socks are wet from the rain. I’ve had a few chances to test the water resistance when it rained here in Las Vegas last July. They handled the above the ankle deep running water wonderfully and kept my socks dry.
After establishing their waterproof credentials, I decided to give their wearability a try on the Robber’s Roost trail, which is about short hike up to a cave, about a mile round trip. I didn’t get any blisters, and though they were somewhat tight on my calves it didn’t cause any issues.
Overall they were excellent waterproof general use boots. Because of their size I wouldn’t take them on extended backpacking trips, but for hikes and tromping around in muddy or wet environments they are perfect.

We stayed at the Bonneville KOA on a road trip from Southern California out to Colorado. Our original goal had been to drive from the SF Bay Area to SLC, UT (US Highway 80 is a very easy, straight shot drive from CA to UT, even for a 650 mile drive), but got a really late start and changed our target to the NV/UT boarder.
The Wendover KOA is definitely a KOA designed for motorhomes and trailers - it’s BARREN - so not a place I would usually want to tent camp. All of the spaces are dirt lots, including the tent sites - no grass, no bushes, no (well, very few) trees, no privacy, no nothing. Again, this is not the environment I would normally want to camp in, but it worked just fine for a short stop between long stretches of driving when covering miles on a road trip.er
This KOA campground would be great for RV users who want to visit the Casinos on the Nevada side of the NV/UT boarder, and for those spending time at the Bonneville Salt Flats for races or recreational fun.
The facilities were clean - clean bathrooms, clean showers. There were fire pits and picnic benches in the camp sites, and WiFi was available on the campus.
KOAs can be really great and convenient (if not full), considering we did not have a reservation ahead of time, and arrived fairly late, but were able to register through an iron ranger near the front office. If you need to find a place to camp in this area, and do NOT have a 4WD vehicle, I️ would suggest camping at the Wendover KOA instead of the nearby dispersed BLM sites located ON the salt flats. When researching where to stop for the night, we considered staying at the BLM campsites as they were FREE and camping out on the salt flats seemed like a cool idea. We decided against it because we didn’t know how my 2WD Honda CRV would fair on the salt, and because KOAs always have nice clean facilities to use.
We got into a conversation with our neighbors about the salt flats (we had never seen them before). They seemed to think we made the correct choice by camping at the KOA rather than the on salt flats… they regularly take off-roading vehicles out to the salt flats, and have seen a dozen or so 2WD vehicles get stuck out on the flats. Apparently the long, vast salt flats are deceptive, and not always as flat as they appear. Also, they said that it can be very difficult to see pooled water while driving out on the salt, so a lot of people get stuck in deep puddles after rain.

TravelerI want to start off by saying I was never able to check with a park ranger and ask how the overflow camping is technically supposed to work but here was my experience. I arrived at the campground around 5pm on a Friday night and everything was full. After driving around for a bit I saw signs for Overflow camping. There appeared to be two sections where overflow camping is permitted. I will post pictures of the one I stayed in over by the slot canyons and day use areas. Since my setup does not require a tent and is super easy to move around. I was able to use the camp fire rings at the day use area for dinner, s’mores, and star gazing. It was actually lovely because the noise of the busy campground was far away and I had the entire day use area to myself. Then after I put my fire out I drove back over to the overflow parking spot. If you are in a Van or similar car/suv setup this may be an option for you if the campground is full. Also, I was still able to use the showers at the campground and use the bathrooms at the day use area so that was nice :)

I've stopped at this campground twice and have very few complaints! There are two areas to camp at, one up higher and the other lower, walking distance from the lake. I've stayed at both.
Both locations have plenty of spaces, complete with a fire pit and covered area containing a picnic table. There is a bathroom at both, although the upper lot bathroom was locked when I was there the first time.
The campground is right off the main road so you do hear road noise (and if at the upper site can definitely see lights from vehicles). The noise at the lower site is much lower.
Down near the lake it was definitely windier and a bit colder than the upper sites.
I saw no signage about camping fees both times I've stopped.
RangerWe arrived late at night and our host (Lucy) left us perfect info to find our site quickly in the dark. It was quite a surprise to wake up and see a pretty empty but lovely campground! Lucy was so kind to us and I wish we could have stayed longer! The Casinos are within walking distance but we did not feel unsafe. The campground is very large (but was empty in October) and we could tell it was very well taken care of! Cute store with a lot of nice souvenirs!

Although the back section looks nice with the palm trees, sites are very close together. The sprinkler system will leave hard water spots all over your stuff. There is no mail service, so you have to find a different way to get mail. Didn't use the Wi-Fi. Cell service is ok, 2 bars on Verizon and AT&T. You can not make reservations, and they need to inspect your rig before they will let you in for the 10 year rule and to make sure it looks nice, although there are other rigs in the park that are well over 10 years old and look like crap. There is one dumpster for close to 60 sites that tends to be overfull all the time. Two washers and dryers, one dryer was broke. There is a laundromat across the street. A lot of sites are permanent with the porch to prove it. Its an ok spot, nothing fancy. The Pour House restaurant attached to the hotel is nice. Good food, bar and karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights, if that's your thing.
TravelerThis place is inexpensive and a convenient location, with a decent grounds and pool. Unfortunately, the check in process for newcomers is a bit flawed and disorganized. The two women working the front desk seem to not even know there is an rv park connected to the hotel (best western). When asked if there was laundry on site, the employee told me she was “unsure but there is a laundromat across the street if not”.
Cable doesn’t work throughout the park, hot tub was down and pool gate is impossible to open even with a key. Although the place is gated, the gates are “not programmed” and “some of them remain open at all times”. You will have to drive around the park to figure out which gates are open- again, part of my instructions from the front desk. Also- if you drive down the wrong side of the street to get to your site, be prepared to back down the street in your RV or trailer, as there is no place to turn around.
If you need a few day stay at an inexpensive rate, this place will work…. Please be prepared to figure everything out on your own.

We spent a month at this lovely campground. The amenities are awesome with a small lake in the middle of the park. Our dog loved walking around the lake and spending time in the dog run. There's a cafe in the casino with daily specials. The convenience store and gas station on site are a plus as well. The sites are all FHU concrete pads with gravel parking. Very level sites that give you more yard than most campgrounds. The wifi is slow so bring a hotspot of your own for speed.. Seeing a hot air balloon pass over the campground on a sunny morning is a sight to behold. So much to do in a town only 40 miles from Las Vegas. Will stay here again if in the area.
