Best Cabin Camping in Nevada

Leave the glitz and glam of the Las Vegas Strip behind and come camping in Nevada. Explore the petroglyphs and ancient cultures at the Valley of Fire State Park or relax in the high alpine along the eastern shores of Lake Tahoe. With over 80% of the state dedicated as public lands, there’s an adventure for everyone.

For some of the best camping in Nevada, head to Pyramid Lake. Located just 40 miles outside of Reno, the lake offers a variety of camping and recreation options. Keep in mind that the lake is located on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe's Reservation. In order to camp here, you’ll need to obtain a permit first. Enjoy dispersed camping along the water’s edge. Don’t forget to bring your boat, SUP or kayak and cool off in the lake, be sure to check out the Pyramid Rock island and see how this awesome spot got its name.

The Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada’s largest state park, contains over 40,000 acres of stunning red rock formations peppered with ancient ruins and native artifacts left behind by the Ancient Puebloan People. Admire petroglyphs, climb the red rocks and uncover another world in this Mars-like landscape. Due to the sweltering summer temps, the Valley of Fire State Park offers perfect place for winter camping in Nevada.

Looking to climb a mountain? Consider hiking to the top of Mount Rose in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Although this area is quite popular and crowded during the summer months, it’s well-worth a trip to this sapphire, high-alpine oasis. Various camping options are available.

Located just outside of Las Vegas, Lake Mead is one of Nevada’s premier outdoor recreation areas. If you’re tired of the crowds, consider hiking up Black Mountain. This lesser-known trail can be done in a day and there is plenty of camping at nearby Lake Mead.

If you’re a national park lover, you’ve got to check out the quiet scenery at the Great Basin National Park. Dramatic mountain ridges meet sagebrush valleys at this little-visited park. Plenty of wildlife and excellent camp spots await you. With so many lakes, deserts and mountains, there are endless possibilities for Nevada camping. No matter where you choose to go in this great state, The Dyrt is here to help you find the perfect perch to pitch a tent.

This Resort has cabins to rent, RV spaces available, a laundry room, pet friendly, a bar with pool tables, a store with everything you need in case you forgot it..... It's a little small but it works. You can also get a two-bedroom perfect for grandparents and their grandkids.

Love this place, we didn't camp here but we checked everything out and had to buy new propane tanks for our heater, worms for fishing, and yummy hot coffee.

Excellent campground in the right place to visit Death Valley

The campsites are located next to the vines and includes a composting toilet& picnic table. You are also welcome to plug in to a standard outlet for charging and use their hose for drinking water and filling tanks. T-Mobile, Verizon & AT&T work well and WiFi are available In addition to your site, they also offer guests an outdoor kitchen, outdoor shower, amazing night skies, and are pet friendly. The camp is 2,890 feet over Death Valley, offering lower temperatures at night, 15/20 degrees less than Furnace creek

    Preferred RV Resort

    Nice rv park

Gravel roads throughout the park, nice large parking spaces for your rigs, they have a cool community garden which is cool because you can go pick some fresh veggies, a nice enclosed pool area kind a looks like an outside garden with clear windows metal framing but there’s a pool inside with plenty of activities going on such as workouts volleyball etc., they have a community clubhouse, each spot comeWith a slab of cement for Anything you may need it for, and a table full hook ups, shaded areas, and they offer a lot of activities a really good place nice people, and overall a good RV park Also they do have a few cabin rentals if you’d like to stay in that rather than in your RV

Eagle Valley Resort & RV Park

    Eagle Valley Resort

Stayed here in July for a family trip. Rented a small cabin for my mom and adult sons and an RV space for myself and husband. The cabin was surprisingly clean and well maintained. The rest of the park, not so much. Most of the spaces were filled by permanent residents in mostly run down trailers and spaces full of trash and other “stuff”. Dogs and cats were wandering with no leashes. The spaces were small and overgrown with weeds. The picnic tables were falling apart, warped with peeling paint. The bathroom’s were clean but the fixtures were old and mismatched. The store seemed well stocked and actually affordable. The bar was dingy but had a lot of character. The park was for sale so I assume they weren’t interested in maintenance. I’m glad we only paid $25 for the site with the Passport America membership but the $90 for the cabin seemed like a lot. It did allow us to all be together so that bumped up the stars.

    Wendover KOA

Typical KOA but next to Other Worldly Salt Flats and Casinos!

Is pretty typical for a KOA except for the location!  This KOA has all the usual amenities: playground, showers, flush toilets, RV hookups, a pool, and wifi.  Some convenievces can also be bought at the main registration cabin.  In addition to the usual RV sites there are also camping cabins and "tent" sites (which I do not recommend).  There are a couple of unique things about this KOA in that it has shuttles to the nearby casinos and is also a 5 minutes drive from the world famous Bonneville Salt Flats where numerous world speed records have been set.

Horsethief Gulch Campground — Spring Valley State Park

Must check this out for fall camping

As with many of the other NV state parks, this campground offers covered picnic tables, flushable toilets and free showers. There are fire rings and grills for cooking at each site. The sites are good size for tent camping and most have tent pads that are level. The abundance of trees gives each site plenty of privacy although there were only 4 other campers there when we visited. There is easy access to the bathroom and the rservoir is only a short walk away.

    Wild Horse State Recreation Area

    Pretty lake

Clean sites. Covered picnic tables. Bbq and fire pits. Pit toilets in one circle away from the lake. Near the lake has two flush toilet bathrooms and two high volume showers. Quite a walk from our site

Las Vegas Bay Campground — Lake Mead National Recreation Area

In the desert, but feels cozy somehow

We landed in Vegas and headed straight out of the city to this campground.  I booked it online, not ever having seen it in person, but I'd stay again in an instant.

We had site 23 - very shaded and "green" - site 24 (not ours) was very open to the desert.

There is a no generator section meant for tents, but we didn't stay there as it seemed fully booked so I picked an RV/tent site at the far end.  And it was lovely.  The site was in the middle of a turn around, so we were in the "donut center" so to speak and it was quiet, shaded and beautiful.  Lot of palms and oleander that gave a lot of privacy. A short walk to the bathroom (hundred yards maybe?) but they were clean and the toilets were the flush kind, not pit kind. Drinking water was available too. There were fire pits at each site and a picnic table. Our site - and I assume most - were dirt/sand mix that made for easy tent set up.  But don't count on getting your stakes into the ground. There were a lot of small rocks around the site - obviously used by many campers to "stake out" the tent with.  We did so as well.

The campground as a whole was a short drive off the main road, but very easy to get to.

    Absolutely I'd stay here again.
