Day use year round

Currently, it’s a perfect time to come check out MNT. Charleston, ’s not crowded and the weather is perfect. This area is day-use only as of right now. The rangers are not sure when it will Be open for the camping season but this is also a campground not just day use so make sure you check that it’s open for camping. It’s all first come first serve and it’s the cheapest place on the mountain when it is open for camping. The ranger said April or may they will open but not sure on a date yet. 12 during the week and 18-weekend prices. If you have a big spot I recommend the double spots, all spots are great for RVs no hook-ups but they have tables, grills, and fire rings. Super nice camp host bob who is there and super helpful. Keep enjoying nature and taking care of her along the way! Cheers… oh one more thing your about a hundred feet from the main road. So try to pick your spot closest to the mountain.

Here are my star ratings based on my lifestyle and what I like. I'm also a mother, dog mama, and a wife so it's not just me it's my crew and i. 1 star- AUTOMATIC relocate… the property is no longer there, trashed or/and I could never have my children there and I wouldn't ever think about staying no matter what. 2 star- Not really my jam, and would NEVER go to again… It probably more of desert life and not really my style for sure…Being from Vegas I can't stand being in the desert and I love the Trees and the Green more than anything. 3 star- Would stay there again in a pinch, but not really my style, the reason its not is because not enough family things to do, the scenery, or the location… but I would go again and feel safe having my kiddos here but only if I needed to in a pinch. 4 star- a really good rating for sure, maybe needed some improvements, minor things like being on top of each other, not a lot of privacy, but honestly little cosmetic things that aren't anything to sweat and would be back again for sure. 5 star- MY FAVORITE… love the location, safety, the surroundings, big camp spots available to fit toys for my kids to play, hammocks to hang, our big family tent, cases of firewood, our suburban or RV, etcccccc….. I would not only come back but would live if I could!!! Anyway thanks for reading and enjoy every moment like it's your last! CHEERS!

Overnight camping is back!

CAMPING HAS BEEN RESTORED HERE!!  …Once upon a time, this area WAS a campground; however, in 2015 it was converted to Day Use only due to flash flooding that occurs in heavy rains.  In June 2019, we confirmed that camping has returned!  USDA Forest Service website info has not been updated yet, but the new sign posted at the campground confirms that camping overnight is allowed. (This campground is also not included with the collection of campgrounds found on Rec.gov.)  The new sign states that sites are recommended for RV use only.  That's because when the campground was converted to day use, they removed the tent pads, but you certainly can find a site that will accommodate a tent.  The host said some sites were supposed to be left for day use only, but campers are taking all the sites (27), and no one is enforcing it either way.  All sites are first come, first serve, with a picnic table, grill, fire ring, but no shade structures.  Restrooms, water on tap, and concrete benches are scattered throughout.  $12 Mon-Thurs; $18 Fri-Sun & Holidays.  Campground is located close to the main Kyle Canyon Rd, so noise can be an issue, but wear earplugs and enjoy the pine trees anyway!  This is great news for the Mt Charleston recreation area, as this camping location has been very missed.
