    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Lamplight Lane RV Resort at Glen Oaks provides convenient pet-friendly camping just 10 minutes from Fort Leonard Wood. The campground welcomes pets with clean facilities and accommodating owners who maintain the grounds for comfortable stays with animals. Full hookup RV sites accommodate rigs up to 42 feet in length, while tent camping areas offer more rustic options for outdoor enthusiasts traveling with pets. The campground's proximity to Fort Leonard Wood makes it particularly popular with military families needing pet accommodations during graduation ceremonies. Roubidoux Spring Campground and RV City Park also accepts pets throughout its drive-in and boat-in sites, offering water and electric hookups for RVs while maintaining a pet-friendly environment near the water.

The Devils Elbow Campground features riverside tent and RV sites where campers can hear the river while sleeping with their pets. The well-maintained grounds include hot showers and firewood for sale at the entry point, with trails accessible within a 15-minute drive for hiking with dogs. Visitors should monitor their pets as some neighboring properties have large dogs that occasionally wander near the campground. Most campgrounds in the area maintain standard pet policies requiring leashes and proper waste disposal. The region's outdoor recreation opportunities include access to clear, cold rivers where pets can cool off during summer months, though owners should supervise animals near water areas and be aware of wildlife encounters common in Missouri's wooded campgrounds.

      Lamplight RV Park

Clean Campground & Very Nice Owners!

The campground was a bit small, but very nice and clean. We fit our 42’ fifth wheel there though, so most would be fine! The owners & camp hosts were absolutely great! The campground could use some work, but the owners told us they just bought it and are gradually fixing it up... The location is perfect, just minutes away from Fort Leonard Wood or St. Robert, MO, off exit 153 on I44! Also only a little over an hour from Springfield, MO... Would definitely recommend and stay again if ever back in the area!

      Lamplight RV Park

      Very Nice

Very close to Fort Leonard Wood. Went to my son's Graduation and his first stop off base was Waffle House for Chocolate Chip Waffles. We had to remind him to chew your food, don't inhale!

Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area

Nice military campground on the Lake of the Ozarks

The Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area (LORA) is a great destination for camping, boating, swimming, water skiing, fishing and other outdoor activities. The lake is one of the Nation's largest man-made lakes, providing you with over 1150 miles of shoreline to enjoy. LORA welcomes Active Duty Military, Retired Military, members of the National Guard and Reserves, DoD employees with ID cards, family members and Fort Leonard Wood contract employees.  Plenty to do and see here.  Boat rentals, hiking, and others mentioned above.  The LORA Country Store carries ice, beverages, firewood and a small selection of food including snacks, milk, eggs and bread. The store also carries the basic necessities needed for camping and fishing, including fishing licenses.  Can rent a tent site, camper site with full or partial hook ups, cabins 1-3 bedroom, etc.  The marina has boat and jet-ski rentals (pontoons, wave runners, jet ski's, ski boats, fishing boats, pontoons, etc.) that are much more reasonable then other rental places in the area. Area is staffed by on-duty MP's out of Fort Leonard Wood.

      Lamplight RV Park

      Best place in town

and canThis RV park is the best option in the Fort Leonard Wood area. THe owners/operators are awsome. The only draw back is that the roads and spots are all gravel and ven be muddy at times. Laundry is cheap. We spent a winter here and the owner was always helpful if anyone needed help dealing with the cold. Other than being all gravel and dirt roads and spots the only real draw back is that it is close to I-44 be noisy at times.

      Lake Ozarks RV Resort

Clean campground, close to many attractions

This campground is clean, and is close to many attractions near the Lake of the Ozarks.

Wifi is spotty, but my site was at the back of the campground. The campsite also has a new in ground pool and dog park.

Reason I gave this campsite 3 stars is because it is clearly still under construction (6/30/23), which I was not aware of. My guess is this was the first season it was open. Half of the park still had conex boxes and construction equipment around. The dog park had little grass and was very rocky.

The owners were VERY nice and accommodating.

If I were to return next year in 2024 I have no doubt I would have given this campsite 4 or 5 stars

Doolittle Acres RV Park and Campground

      Great Route 66 stop

The camp area looks new, cute playground, small fenced dog park type area, showers, laundry, fire pits and picnic tables. Very little trees or grass. Would love it if they played up the Route 66 theme they have going. Very convenient for our fishing trip!

Doolittle Acres RV Park and Campground

      Nice area

Good area only a mile off the highway so it made a great night stopping point. Had great access for our starlink. They have a little dog park, kids park, and it was all clean and well maintained. Easy access and some nice pull through spots. Water, sewer, and electric hook ups. Fire pit and picnic table at site. Since it’s close the highway it was a little loud with traffic. 57$ a night for premium spots, 42$ a night for non premium

    Guide to Fort Leonard Wood

Tent and RV campgrounds near Fort Leonard Wood offer varied camping experiences from riverside spots to wooded settings. Located in the Ozark highlands of Missouri at approximately 1,100 feet elevation, this region features rolling terrain with cold-water rivers and streams. Most campgrounds remain open seasonally from April through October, though several maintain year-round operations with access to nearby hiking trails.

    What to do

River activities: Float trips on the Gasconade River are popular at Froggys River Resort. As one camper notes, "The six mile float on the gasconade was lovely. The river moves slow, so if you're used to floating 16 miles on the spring fed Jacks Fork or Current, halfing that will be plenty."

Swimming in cold springs: Many campgrounds provide access to cold water swimming spots. At Boiling Springs Campground, "There is a spring on the opposite side of the river that is fairly easy to swim to that is a thrill to swim through. It's ice cold!"

Hiking trails: Trails within 15-minute drives of most campgrounds. At Paddy Creek Recreation Area, visitors can "take a 10.5 mile hike about 15 mins away from the site!" Some campgrounds connect directly to trail systems through the Mark Twain National Forest.

    What campers like

Scenic water features: Campers appreciate the unique springs and rivers. One reviewer at Boiling Springs Campground mentioned they "did a 5 mile float which was the perfect length and very scenic."

Peace and quiet: Many campsites offer secluded spots away from crowds. A Paddy Creek Recreation Area camper shared: "Quite and peaceful very nice camp sites." Another noted it was "Quiet and secluded. We love being able to have an escape from the world and forced to not have our electrons since there is no service."

Wildlife viewing: Montauk State Park Campground offers wildlife observation opportunities. One camper reported, "In the morning, a bald eagle flew up the river." The park's location at the headwaters of the Current River creates habitat for diverse wildlife.

    What you should know

Limited or no cell service: Most campgrounds have restricted connectivity. At Paddy Creek Recreation Area, a camper mentioned: "No cell service at cg. Had to drive up the hill to get a signal."

Flooding concerns: Riverside campsites may flood during heavy rains. A camper at Ruby's Landing River Resort reported, "We were supposed to camp down by the river but it flooded out so they moved us to a spot on higher ground."

Varying bathroom facilities: Facilities range from vault toilets to modern shower houses. At Froggys River Resort, a camper warned: "NO PLUMBIN, PORT O JOHNS ONLY." Another noted that Paddy Creek has "Vault toilet clean and stocked. No fee just donations."

Seasonal changes: Water levels vary significantly by season. A visitor cautioned about Ruby's Landing: "Depending on the time of year, the river can be quite low, so be sure to check the forecast before planning a stay."

    Tips for camping with families

Cabin options: Gasconade Hills Resort offers family-friendly cabins. One visitor shared: "We booked a last minute trip here and had a cabin along with a RV site. The cabins were great. There was a large pool kind of hidden in the woods."

Swimming locations: Some campgrounds have designated swimming areas for children. At Montauk State Park, "if you head out of the park on YY you will find Tan Vat Access located right outside the park on the Current. This is a great place to take young ones for a dip in its cool waters."

Kid-friendly activities: Structured programs at select parks. A Montauk State Park visitor mentioned, "There were a lot of activities aimed at kids. Great mix of modern campground and nature experience."

    Tips from RVers

Site length considerations: Most RV sites have length restrictions. At Lamplight Lane RV Resort at Glen Oaks, "We fit our 42' fifth wheel there though, so most would be fine!" The campground provides convenient pet-friendly camping near Fort Leonard Wood.

Road conditions: Access roads vary in quality. A camper at Paddy Creek noted, "Parking pads are short and lined with huge boulders. Worked fine for our 16ft TT big rigs probably not so much."

Hookup availability: Full hookups aren't available at all campgrounds. At Boiling Spring, "Full service hookups. Some shaded spots right on river." Others like Ruby's Landing have limited electric-only hookups, requiring self-contained waste management.
