Big Red Barn RV Park's pet-friendly environment features long, wide sites with grass and picnic tables. Campers with dogs appreciate the off-leash dog park area where pets can exercise freely. Camp Mi Casa on the Route RV Park and Coachlight Campground also welcome pets throughout their grounds. Ballard's Campground provides shaded pull-through sites with patios that accommodate pets. Most campgrounds in the Carthage area enforce standard leash policies when pets are outside designated exercise areas. Beagle Bay RV Haven Campground offers comprehensive amenities for pets and their owners, including clean facilities and fishing opportunities. The RV parks maintain clean grounds with sufficient space between sites to walk dogs, and most provide trash receptacles for pet waste disposal. Children often enjoy taking dogs for golf cart rides around the properties.

Wooded areas at Zans Creekside RV Park provide shaded spots overlooking river access where pets can cool off during summer months. Black walnut trees create natural shade that helps prevent pet overheating during hot weather. Joplin KOA, located approximately 17 miles from Carthage, offers cabin accommodations that accept pets along with traditional RV and tent sites. Several campgrounds specifically mention large dog friendliness with no breed restrictions. Neosho City Campground, about 20 miles south of Carthage, allows pets at their RV sites with water and electric hookups. Weather considerations affect pet comfort significantly—summer temperatures often reach 90°F, requiring morning or evening exercise times for dogs. Most campgrounds maintain quiet hours starting at 10 PM when barking should be minimized. Nearby veterinary services can be found in Carthage and Joplin for emergency situations.

      Stage Stop Campground

      Love this campground!!

We stayed here twice our first night and last night of our two week road trip. The place is well maintained and peaceful. Decorated like an old western town. Laundry facilities are available. The dog park was the best our whole road trip. We have three dogs that range from 4.5 lbs to 45 lbs. they had room to play and they were safe. The staff are very friendly. Highly recommended.

      Four Oaks RV Park

Goof Transit camping with great staff

Super helpful staff for late check-ins. It is a good RV campsite when you are on the move and need a place to stay near the the high way (a bit noisy with traffic) and traveling with a pet. They have a place for dogs to play.

      Big Red Barn RV Park

Very convenient, super clean and quiet

We overnighted here on the way to Hot Springs, AR.  Convenient to Interstate 49, but virtually no traffic noise and none while inside the van.  We arrived after the office had closed - there was a prominent note on the door as to which site to use.   Electrical hookup was fine - we did not use water or cable.  There were about a dozen other  campers - most appeared to be long termers.  The CG was VERY quiet - very peaceful.  They have an off-leash dog park area which our dogs loved and used it 3-4 times the nite we were there.  The bathrooms were toasty warm and VERY clean.  Lavatory hot water got warm quickly, plenty of soap and towels.  The office has various items for sale, from snacks to RV gear.  Would not hesitate to stay again - in fact, may do so next week on our return trip.
