Honey Creek Area — Grand Lake State Park

Sitting along the eastern shore of Grand Lake O' the Cherokees outside Grove, Oklahoma, Honey Creek Area draws a steady mix of RVers and tent campers throughout the year. The campground runs on a split layout: lower sites are notably spacious, while the upper section runs tighter, which matters when maneuvering larger rigs. Town is roughly six minutes away by car, making resupply runs straightforward.

Water access is a consistent theme in camper reports. Some sites back up to a tree line with partial lake views, and the park includes both lake swimming and a pool. A boat launch ramp on site handles smaller rigs without much hassle, and noise on the water from motorboats tends to carry into camp. Wildlife is active, too. Raccoons have been known to exploit open windows in vehicles left unattended at night.

Full hookups with electric (30 and 50 amp), water, and sewer are available, along with a dump station, showers, and drinking water. Reservations are accepted, and pets are welcome. One returning camper describes it as "a great park with a pool and lake swimming access," which captures the range of on-site activity well. Nearby alternatives include Grand Lake O' the Cherokees RV Resort for those wanting a different setup in the area.

Honey Creek Area tends to work best for boaters, RV travelers with full-hookup needs, and families who want direct lake access without straying far from town amenities.

Grand time at Grand Lake

We met friends there. We boated, jet ski'd, visited, ate, made new friends and had the best week. Concrete pads, 30 and 50 Amp available but no sewer hookups. Had to use the turd wagon but it was an easy pull. Already making plans to go back.

Nice State Facility

Big park with so many site options. Very large sites on the lower area, upper area is a little more tight. Easy access to the launch ramp for smaller boat rigs.. easy access to the area activities very accommodating staff

Good overnight spot

We were happy to find a tent spot to park our vancamper on the memorial day weekend. Although we were surrounded by RVers, our site backed up to a line of trees and we could even see the lake from our site, albeit through the trees. The campground wasn't too loud, there was more noise from the boats on the lake and the red-headed woodpeckers. Our site had a picnic table and a grill and a short walk to the bathrooms.
