Bundick Lake Retreat and RV Park

    Best Family Friendly RV Park

Bundick Lake Retreat and RV is simply amazing! The spacious RV sites are surrounded by beautiful scenery, and the lake views are breathtaking. We loved the pool, game room, and mini golf course, which kept our family entertained for hours. The pavilion with picnic areas was perfect for gatherings. The staff was friendly and helpful, making our stay even better. This is the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway—I can't recommend it enough!

North Campground — Chicot State Park

Great camping in the heart of La

We stopped at this campground for one night on our way home. Some of the sites are close together, but we called and they put us in a spot that was very spacious. There were almost no other campers there so it helps to go in the middle of the week. The staff was very friendly and they had a great hiking path and playground for our 5 year old. I biked most of the paved roads in the state park and was able to go 13 miles without doubling anywhere. The cabins looked great from the outside and are located right on the lake. There is a long fishing pier and boat rentals. This is definitely one we will return to. Also, it is located very close to a lot of antique shopping which my wife wouldn’t let me pass up on my way home.

    Great place.

Great place. I think the best time to visit is in the spring. I highly recommend it. There was also an excellent cinema and casino in the area, which I really enjoyed. Although I prefer betting more because it’s more predictable, and not everything depends solely on luck. By the way, bookies not on gamstop offer very good odds and a wide variety of sports events for betting. I recommend trying them out if you enjoy this as well. As for this place, we plan to visit it again with friends next year because we liked it so much.

Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Breaux Bridge

    Super fun place to be

Our site was $63 a night for 5 nights & $79 for two nights. We got a weekly rate of $574.16

We were in Site# 2144 The check in was at 12pm and Check out is at 11am.
We had Full hook- up with a concrete pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep.

The site was easy to level.

Our site was fairly shaded with one tree. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring.

It is an easy access to the campground from highway -(less than 1 mile from highway).

There is free WiFi. They offer Cable TV and there are many channels.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen but do have quite a few community fire pits.
They sell wood but were out the entire week we were there.

They pickup your garbage at your site daily.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They also allow you to rent golf carts. It is beneficial to have a golf cart to get around since it is a large campground. They would not let us use our e-bikes around the campground.

They do have multiple swimming pools including a water playground and splash pad. There is a huge hot tub. We especially loved the 21+pool with swim up bar. Water Amenities are open from March 29th-October 26th. You can also rent poolside cabanas. They have a few smaller ponds for catch & release fishing.

They have a decent general store with some food, accessories, and clothes options.

There is a separate Activity Center for kids. There are tons of scheduled activities for kids like gem mining, tie dying, candle making, candy bar bingo, sand art, etc.

There is a Playground. They also offer pickleball, cornhole, and basketball sport court. There is a Game room for kids. They have a workout room for adults.

There are three bars (one serving food) and a separate concession stand that also serves food.

Right outside of the park is a delicious restaurant/fresh seafood market with a daiquiri drive thru (many flavors).

There is live music on site!

The streets are paved and good for riding bikes. There is not really anywhere to ride bikes outside of campground.

They have multiple RV slip options along with cabins/cottages/villas for rent. Tent camping is not allowed.

They have many shower houses. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean.

There is a few laundry facilities. They allow you to use cash or credit card. It is approximately $2 to wash and $2to dry a load.

They have a fenced in dog park (Barkaritaville) with a dog wash. It is located in the back far corner of the park.

Bugs were a little bit of an issue and bug spray was definitely needed.

There were no trails to hike in the campground but the park is so huge, it is a great walk within itself.

We shopped at the local market outside of the park and the Piggly Wiggly. We went on the Cajun Food Tour and definitely recommend this (link on CM’s website).

Tucked away with a Beautiful Water View

We stayed at spot 99. It was a very quiet spot tucked away on the far side of the campground. It was right off the water and had a beautiful view of the sunrise and all the birds. Pretty far away from the restroom about a.2 mile walk. Not a ton of through traffic since this was on it's own loop. Large wide spots with paved cement made it easy to park and level. Water was on the wrong side of the camp spot, so bring a longer hose. The site had fantastic Verizon cell service, 3 bars with about 100-125 mbps. Overall the campground was clean, quiet, and made for a great weekend getaway.

    Great Campground

Park is well maintained. Spots are nice, especially the ones on the water. No sewer hookups. If you’re looking for a quiet spot, I would avoid the spots near the double pull-thrus. Verizon cell service is fantastic, WiFi works well.

    Bayou Wilderness RV Resort

    Perfect I-10 / I-49 stop

We do not like to get too far off of our route. Bayou Wilderness is 4.5 miles from I-49 just north of I-10. The park is exceptionally well maintained. The pool is nice and there is a playground next to the pool. The Laundry/Bath House is clean and the bathrooms are modern. There are three separate bathrooms with a toilet and a shower. The laundry has 6 washers ($2.00) and 6 working dryers ($2.50). This is an excellent overnight stay with FHU. It is worth it. I I travel south again I would plan this stop on my route.

    Great Infrastructure, Great Price

I was impressed with this place. They spared no expense in developing and maintaining this park. I was there in late March and the place was only about 25-30% full. We had ample privacy. The only thing I didn’t like was the lack of bathrooms in the park. There was only one in the office building. I like to rely on park bathrooms as much as possible. This place is designed for self-contained RV camping. I needed cash so I went into the casino and used an ATM. I was charged a$5 fee. Grrrr.  You can't beat the price for a full hookup.

Nice park , but not my favorite

We arrived at this park on a Thursday . It was fine, although the restrooms were extremely far from our site. They were very clean . We also used their nice laundry facilities. On Friday , the crowds started to arrive. We learned many locals frequent this campground. By evening, the park was full . Groups being a bit rowdy and playing music very loud. We are not prudes but I really don’t want to be 8 sites away and hear blasting music. Over all the week days I think would be a little quieter . Sites we large. Ours had a bit of vegetation to separate us from neighboring sites.

    Nice and friendly

They were remodeling to change to Margaritaville. It is huge and will have a small water park and swim up bar and huge clubhouse when done. The side we were on was bare just a few bare bushes. If they put in some trees it wouldn’t look like such a parking lot. Each lot does have their own strip of grass between the slabs of concrete. It was fairly cheap but I assume when everything is done the price will rocket. The people at the desk were friendly as well. Their are only a few lots that are full timers. The best part is the heavenly donut and the crawfish town restaurant. Both are delicious. Lots of places for fur baby to do their business. We would stay here again if the price isn’t ridiculously expensive.

    Kinder, LA….A favorite

Check in was a breeze. Ample sized cement sites with picnic tables. Our 42” 5th wheel has 4 slides and the site was roomy. Hookups we’re good. We were close to dog park which was perfect. Lovely clean campground. The lodge where you register was pretty. Could be marked better as it doesn’t mention anything about registration. There is a guard shack but doesn’t seem to be managed 24/7. So it’s kind of a false sense of security. The pool is large but a long way from the rv park itself. They have a 24 hour shuttle that takes to back and forth to casino. That really is all there is to do here as Lake Charles is 44 min away. We had some people at their camper who felt they should share their music with the entire park. I realize they’re allowed to have loud music until a certain time- however when you can hear it over your TV while sitting in your camper I just think that’s rude! The laundry is very small considering the size of the park and it seemed that people from the hotel used it which I don’t understand as it’s for the RV park. They have 4 dryers only 2 working, 4 washers only 3 working. I had to wait for people to finish with washers and dryers in order to do my 2 loads. Never spent 3 hours doing laundry before. These people were definitely NOT rv’ers! They had suitcases!

    Paved level sites

This isn’t a destination town so prices are reasonable and the facilities are in great condition. Very friendly camp hosts, and a good spot for a layover. There is a rum distillery almost next door that is a fun free thing to do, otherwise you’re looking at a 15-20 minute drive to other activities in the area. Solid Wi-Fi, great phone reception for AT&T, spacious sites, and quiet park.
