    Indian Creek Recreation Area

    Beautiful, Peaceful

This is where we go car camping in their primitive section. There are many, many car camping campsites on the lake/reservoir! There are a few pit toilets that are clean and there is a potable water spigot at each of the pit toilet locations. The campsites are basic tenting areas with no improvements such as fire rings, tables, trash barrels, tent platforms, etc. There is some privacy and separation between campsites! This is where we go when limited time is available. We bring everything we need with us. There is limited supplies in the village of woodworth, La.

    Paragon Casino Resort

RANGER REVIEW:BANNER AND OAK T-SHIRT AT PARAGON CASINO RESORT RV PARK

PRODUCT REVIEW BANNER AND OAK T-SHIRT As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get products to test from time to time - today I am testing a Banner and Oak T-shirt. https://bannerandoak.com/products/camp-navy?variant=441825624068&currency=USD&gclid=CjwKCAjwtO7qBRBQEiwAl5WC2_0XqYiJxOuate5OBrZoqMXBxOQJYNVPo5C4gRHVLoRXmsNnkAvO9BoCA78QAvD_BwE This shirt is fantastic! My husband is very tough on clothes, but after several washes, it still maintains it's size and shape! The shirt is super soft and held up well in the extreme heat of Louisiana summer. Thanks for the honor of trying this out, and I hope you all do as well! You won't be disappointed! CAMPGROUND REVIEW: PARAGON CASINO RESORT AND RV PARK When my sons suggested that we all go camping here, I was leary at first. I thought since it was a Casino that it would be all concrete and flashing lights. I am a woods and water type of girl so I really didn't want to go, but am glad I did! There was ample room for our camper which is 32 feet. Our site number 3, had full hookups and room for a couple of canapies. (Very little shade!) Also had a concrete picnic table and lots of space between campers. The kids were able to go swimming in the large outdoor pool. There's also one inside! There is a walking trail, golf course and of course, if you gamble the casino. If it rains there's also a movie theater. I didn't use the showers or laundry facilities but they had those provided, too.

    Indian Creek Recreation Area

    Great Weekend Getaway!

Indian Creek is only a couple hours away from our home, so it’s an ideal spot for a weekend getaway together! My husband and I have stayed here twice—first, at site 52 and then at site 56. We had to call the campground prior to our stay to get a gate code as they lock the gate at night, but that was simple enough and made us feel safe. During each of our stays, the campground was nearly full, so we counted ourselves lucky with the sites we had reserved.

We have a 21’ travel trailer and barely fit it and our Toyota Tundra in site 52. The lake was visible when standing inside the camper (driver side) but not from our chairs by the fire. There was a pretty steep drop off from the concrete pad to the ground level forcing us to put our outdoor rug on the ground. We appreciated the shade, two handy trees for our hammock, the ducks on the lake, and the sound of the wind blowing through the tall grass. We had neighbors one night in site 54 which is very close, but they kept to themselves so we didn’t feel encroached upon. Site 52 was also a little low, so it was a bit soggy from rains that fell the week before we had arrived.

After exploring the campground on this first trip, we decided that site 56 would be perfect for us. We felt like “kings of the mountain” during our second stay at Indian Creek as we were at the top of a hill. Site 56 had a HUGE backyard leading down to the lake. The view from our chairs by the fire and the picnic table were excellent. There were lots of trees to hang our hammock from, too.

Other sites that we found appealing were 13, 16, 45, 57, 95, 99, and 100. We really prefer a nice view, separation from neighboring sites, and privacy when selecting a site, so for us 56 was ideal. All sites had concrete pads, picnic tables, and fire rings but no lantern posts. The first loop of the campground (Susan’s Loop) seemed much quieter than the others (perhaps because it was further from the playground and little beach area). The beach areas seem really nice for camping during warmer weather. We thoroughly enjoyed hiking the trail and saw lots of deer tracks, ducks, and squirrels. There were many families camping with children, but the campground has a nice, quiet vibe that we really enjoyed. There is a Dollar General just a few minutes away as well as a well-appointed grocery store should you need any last minute items. We cannot wait to visit Indian Creek again!

    It’s Pretty

Got here around 12 and was super confused on how to get to the primitive camp area. It’s a nice spot, plan on getting here before dark. Other than that our experience was good.

    Free Camping and Shooting Range!

Arrived late at night to a near empty but well maintained camping area. Vault toilets and no hookups but otherwise a nice place to spend the night. The shooting range appears to open right at 8am so be prepared to be woken up in most American way possible lol. Bring bug spray!

South Campground — Chicot State Park

    Great Campground

We went camping in a tent this weekend at the park and really enjoyed it. We stayed at the south landing camping area in loop A. If you plan on camping in a tent I recommend the spots in loop A and most in loop D. B and C are more for RVs but you could still set up there, those two loops are more open and the spots are closer. Loops A and D are a little more spread out and have trees between some spots. The main bathroom was in good shape and had heat. Trash was picked up every morning by the park. Our spot had a fire ring, water , and electricity. The park allows you to use dead tree limbs for firewood. One thing to know about spots on loop A near the comfort station is that there’s a treatment plant in the center that kicks on every once in a while and makes a good bit of noise at night when the motor runs. It helped put me to sleep but it might bother others. Also theres no cell signal except in one or two random spots of the campground but it was nice to unplug for a weekend . We really enjoyed this campground and park though and will definitely be back .

Guide to Eunice

Tent camping near Eunice, Louisiana offers access to recreational areas within a 1-2 hour drive radius. The region experiences humid subtropical climate with long summers and short, mild winters, making spring and fall particularly popular for campers. Most camping areas in this part of central Louisiana feature mixed pine and hardwood forests with several water features including lakes and reservoirs.

What to do

Kayak launching from campsite: At Indian Creek Recreation Area, campers can launch kayaks directly from their sites. "We were able to launch our kayaks from our RV site," notes Cat R., making water access convenient without having to transport equipment.

Hiking with wildlife viewing: The trail system at Indian Creek provides opportunities to observe local wildlife. "We thoroughly enjoyed hiking the trail and saw lots of deer tracks, ducks, and squirrels," reports Layla D., who appreciated the natural setting during cooler months.

Fishing from dedicated piers: Fishing is popular at several lakes near Eunice, with dedicated fishing structures available. The lakes contain various freshwater species, though campers should be aware that fishing licenses are required and can be purchased online or at local sporting goods stores.

What campers like

Privacy between primitive sites: The separation between campsites at Indian Creek Recreation Area provides a sense of seclusion. Jeff S. notes, "There is some privacy and separation between campsites! This is where we go when limited time is available."

Multiple beach areas: Family-friendly features include sandy shorelines. "From the multiple sandy beach areas to the playgrounds, there was lot for my elementary age children to do," shares Sarah L., highlighting the recreational options for younger visitors.

Elevated camping spots with views: Several campers mention seeking out higher ground for better experiences. Rocky F. explains, "When looking for a spot to put our tent, we found several peak areas that were very nice. We camped near the lake, watched fishermen and boaters during the day."

What you should know

Nighttime noise considerations: Weekend camping may include more noise and activity than weekdays. Sarah L. mentions, "The rules seem to not be enforced, including the no noise times of 10pm-7am. There were golf carts riding around with loud music until 1:30 am both nights."

Limited supplies nearby: While there are some stores in proximity to camping areas, selection is restricted. Jeff S. advises, "We bring everything we need with us. There is limited supplies in the village of woodworth, La."

Gate access codes: Some campgrounds implement security measures requiring advance planning. "We had to call the campground prior to our stay to get a gate code as they lock the gate at night, but that was simple enough and made us feel safe," reports Layla D. at Indian Creek Recreation Area.

Tips for camping with families

Weekday camping for quieter experience: For families seeking less crowded conditions, consider non-weekend visits. "We went during the week, so it was quiet. So pretty," explains Cat R., suggesting mid-week camping provides a more peaceful atmosphere.

Campsite selection for space: Some sites offer more room for children to play. Layla D. found that "Site 56 had a HUGE backyard leading down to the lake. The view from our chairs by the fire and the picnic table were excellent."

Playground accessibility: Indian Creek Recreation Area features play areas for children. Sarah L. notes the campground "is designed for young families, from the multiple sandy beach areas to the playgrounds," making it suitable for elementary-aged children.

Tips from RVers

Site size variations: RV campers should research specific site dimensions before booking. "We have a 21' travel trailer and barely fit it and our Toyota Tundra in site 52," shares Layla D., indicating the importance of matching vehicle combinations to appropriate sites.

Loop selection impacts: Different campground sections offer varying experiences. "The first loop of the campground (Susan's Loop) seemed much quieter than the others (perhaps because it was further from the playground and little beach area)," notes Layla D. from Indian Creek Recreation Area.

Dump station availability: While sewer hookups may be limited, facilities exist for waste disposal. Cat R. points out there's "No sewer hookup, but has 2 dump stations," which allows for longer stays without leaving the campground for waste management.
