TravelerGrove campground is a must for people who like the peaceful nature. It is more expensive than advertised. We paid $46 per night no reservation.
TravelerWe had a great time at this location in 2015. Campsites were very roomy graveled leveled spots. I have a trout fishery on the property it is a civil engineer campground right below the dam. You can fish the river or you can fish the stream they put in where they release the trout to get into the river better have your fishing license though.
TravelerMy son and I have been twice. The first trip was marred by car issues, but the second trip, we were able to actually camp in the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.
We parked at the Twin Arches Loop National Recreation Trail head, then made our way down into the valley to view the two gorgeous and huge arches there.
As the sun was setting, we found a good place to set up our hammock gear a little ways off of the trail, then we fixed our supper at a nearby over hang, and finally snuggled in for a wonderfully cold night (late march). There was ice on the trees in the shade of some of the overhangs.
It is a nice hike, plenty of interesting areas to set up camp. Fair warning, some of the "stairs" down into the canyon are steep so be prepared.
Make sure you have your permit with you while camping and have a wonderful time in this beautiful valley.
GuideHad a great stay in the water/electric section (no sewer), right on the water. It was shoulder season during weekday so most of the campground was empty. Everything worked. Laundry and bathhouses are old but work. Bring leveling blocks because of variations on each of the gravel sites. Very affordable!
ScoutWe have enjoyed our stay here at The Point Campground & Farm. Our kids had a blast catching fish in the pond and exploring the large property. We will definitely be back.
ScoutThe only thing the manager wants to do is catch people's cats and not tell people where the cats are being taken, threaten to evict people if they don't maintain pest control for their individual sites even though the cockroach infestation is campground-wide and no individual tenant's fault, and harass people who don't nod and agree wuth everything she says. She'll also let people get away with blatant animal abuse (keeping KITTENS, literal actual KITTENS) in a tiny cage in 90+ degree weather with no food or water and TAKE THE ABUSER'S SIDE when the kittens are released. She and her boyfriend/husband/whoever that dude is will BOTH speed through the campground when they're pissed. If you see tire tracks in the gravel, it's theirs.
Never been so glad to get out of a place in my life. They run it like a prison, not a campground.
Oh and I forgot to mention their little "security" henchman they have SNOOP AROUND PEOPLE'S RVS AT NIGHT WHEN THEY DON'T KNOW! I only found out after catching him looking under my RV without my permission but apparently WITH D's permission! And he does it to everyone's RVs! The manager(s) are insane.
TravelerVisited here in the middle of January with all the snow and I was hot tent camping. You can only set up your tent on the designated tent pad, luckily we had heavy duty stakes that could get through the ground. The entire river was frozen over and ponds were frozen too. There were a few cars that drove through the middle of the night but no issues. We left our site unattended for hours to check out the streams and rivers and nothing was missing. Lots of beer bottles left over and shattered so I have to pick up the trash before letting my dog out. There are more sites down the gravel road but we went with the first one we came to.
