We were near the restroom facilities which were very clean. The camping area was recently mowed. Plenty of parking for guests and tents," shares Heather K. Outdoor theater experience: The Pioneer Playhouse Campground combines camping with cultural activities. "There is a theatre insight which is 70 years old and full of history. Farm animal interactions: Wildcat Creek Farm offers a unique camping experience with friendly animals. "A campsite settled upon the bank of the Kentucky River with a friendly farm cat, goats, horses and cow we delighted in a campfire as the sun set and the stars came out," writes Kurt B. The animals regularly visit campsites but won't disturb belongings.
What you should know
GPS reliability issues: Many campgrounds sit at the end of narrow, winding roads where GPS directions can become unreliable. "The one lane road coming in might give you the willies but it is worth it," explains Stacey about Camp on the Kentucky. Call ahead for specific directions if possible.
Site leveling challenges: Prepare for uneven terrain at some campgrounds. "The sites here are not level. We used our normal 2x green blocks for the Jack, but needed all 10 of our leveling blocks, plus 8 paving stones to get the appropriate height," reports Whistle P. about Cummins Ferry RV Park.
Office hour limitations: Many campgrounds have restricted office hours, particularly Sunday through Tuesday. "If you are trying to check in the office has kind of strange hours. They are only open until 2 Sunday through Tuesday," notes Crystal C. about Camp on the Kentucky. Always call ahead to confirm check-in procedures.

Playground access: Several sites offer play equipment for children. "We had kids that fished and played in the playground and sat by the fire every night!" shares Maison H. about Cummins Ferry RV Park. Most playgrounds are centrally located within walking distance of multiple campsites.
Farm experiences: Children particularly enjoy animal interactions at LockRidge Park. "Kind of a steam-punk vibe with funky lighting along the paths made from rebar in the shape of people doing yoga poses. Putting green, good Dix river views, and a super nice events space," describes Michael P.
Weekend activities: Many campgrounds schedule weekend events. "We found this new and wonderful glamping and event center with 5 FHU sites and 2 water and electric sites when looking for a campground to visit friends," writes MickandKarla W. about LockRidge Park. Satellite connectivity: Despite wooded settings, satellite reception remains possible at most locations. "There are trees that border the area, but we had no problem getting a Starlink signal. For site 5, we placed the antenna on the roof," notes MickandKarla W. about LockRidge Park.
Seasonal campers dominate: Many campgrounds have limited transient sites. "This campground is mostly seasonal campers so there are only a few spots that are available. They are very tiny spots. Our camper is 26 ft and we barley got it in our spot," advises Sarah F. about Chimney Rock Campground.
Site selection importance: Carefully review site maps when booking. "We had a great time. This was one of the quietest campgrounds we have ever been to. I would say 85% of the sites are full timers. I site we received was awesome and spacious, but we had some friends that were pleased with there's and left early," shares Kristen H. about Camp Nelson RV Park.
