Extremely strict rules. Stayed twice and not impressed either time. Covid made it even worse.
Trout streams well fed, campsites spread out well, amenities good for primitive use area. Horses welcome, firewood and ice available. Historical Fire Tower hike/visit is a must. Primitive pack-in sites, 1 cabin available. Modern Cabin is well maintained, electricity, microwave, a full sized refrigerator, and two porches, where one of them is screened in. Sleeps 6.
Nice views of the Iowa and Wisconsin Mississippi River bluffs. Lots of noise from the railroad that has a train every 30 min.
We visited in 2018 and the views are breathtaking! The sand caves are cool, lots of unique hiking features. The nature program was great for our son who was 2 at the time.
Wyalusing has all the beauty of two rivers converging, hills and bluffs, trees of all kinds and great hiking trails. The camp grounds are clean and quiet. We had a wonderful fall weekend here.
One of the best state parks we've stayed at. We were on the bluff across the street which is no biggie. Site 124 the highest point there for camping. Restrooms were very clean and no bugs in the first of October.
We paid 15$ online to reserve a spot for the night but I’m not sure if a different part of the park was free or not as advertised here. But it was very quiet and our spot (55) was right on the river and a bit tucked in the woods which was great and had an amazing view of the bridge. It had a fire pit but is rustic so no bathrooms near by. We were the only ones on that side of the campground (full map online) which was very peaceful. Be careful of spots 56,57,58 because they can flood. Overall good stay for us!
Wen I lived in Minnesota and my boyfriend was living in iowa, this was our go-to meeting place for our weekend getaways. We only had a few issues over the 6 times we stayed there relating to reservations….but overall, it was a positive experience.
There’s a new children’s play area and and a very nice American wars memorial. The driveways are gravel and pretty level. 3 drive through sites and 4 back in spots with a few nice trees. Water electric and sewer connections at each site with a separate dump station. A shelter with men’s and women’s rest rooms. No showers. Pretty wide open and close together sites, but the sunset over the cornfields was very pretty.
The campground was quiet And clean- bathrooms extremely clean with facilities being closed for 2 hours each day for cleaning. 2 different camping areas one more woods, one closer to your neighbors but AMAZING bluff top views.
The hiking is awesome- prairie trails, woods trails, waterfalls, caves- take your pick. Concessions have what you may want for a treat, woods is reasonably priced at $4/ bundle. Though there is a stand right outside of the park where bundles are $3.
