Close to touristy spots

Quiet, clean & friendly. FHUs and city water/sewer! The gorgeous sunsets were an added bonus. I wish we would have booked a back in site, because they were wonderfully shaded and appeared easy to back into. (Our last 2 campground back ins were nightmarishly narrow with close trees.)

Rural paradise

We had such a lovely stay here! We will be back! It’s a beautiful setting, very quaint with the Rustic chapel and the view for miles. The sites are all clean and most all are level. Unfortunately our site 26 seemed to be the most in level, which was our only negative. We had to use all our blocks to get us as level as possible. The grounds are nicely landscaped and very well maintained. There’s a cute store and a cute little area with outside games like corn hole and yard checkers. There’s a huge grassy area for walking the dog and several stations set up with poop bags/garbage. There are several benches set where you can sit and stare for miles and miles. The campsite is close to several cute small towns, like Cuba City, Wisconsin and Galena, Illinois. It’s also close to Dubuque, Iowa, but we didn’t get to that one this trip. All sites are full hookup! We highly recommend Rustic Barn!

Very nice place to stay

We found the Rustic Barn Campground to be an excellent place to stay. We stayed only a single night while making our way across country in our class c. Sites are gravel for the RV, reasonably level, and well maintained. Or site was a back in site. Hookups are in good condition. Electrical and water was shared with the neighbor behind us. Each site had plenty of grassy area with a table and firepit. There were plenty of large trees.  Staff was very friendly and helpful.

A playground was available along with a grassy area containing several games. Showers and laundry are available.

We found this to be an excellent place to stay.  We will stay again when traveling this way.

Very clean and well-maintained

General: 58 sites with various amenities. Some are long pull-throughs, some are back-in, some have 30 amp with or without a patio, and some have 50-amp electric with or without a patio. Tents are NOT allowed. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and asked to sign a waiver and given a welcome packet. The rules are extensive, but most are common sense/courtesy and not at all unreasonable.

Site Quality: All had gravel driveways and looked level. Decent separation between sites although they are close together, as would be expected in an RV park. Our site had a patio and decent-sized picnic table but it was chilly when we were there so we ate inside.

Bathhouse: Very clean as were the showers.

Activities/Amenities: There are many activities offered, including a dog park, basketball, horseshoes, games (cornhole, large checkerboard, and others), a barn with a television, a book library, puzzles, and a pool table. Coffee is available after 9 am. There is also a small chapel available 24/7 and a laundry room. WiFi is also available. There is a camp store with ice, ice cream, some camping supplies, clothing, crafts, and more. We were told several restaurants will deliver to the campground.

We don’t typically prefer to stay in RV-style campgrounds, but it was conveniently located with easy access off Route 151 just over the Wisconsin border from Iowa, we were warmly welcomed, and enjoyed our short stay passing through. Pride of ownership was evident throughout.

Excellent Stay in this Well Maintained Campground

My dog and I are traveling full time, currently making our way down the Mississippi River. We stopped at the Rustic Barn because it was away from the city (Dubuque), priced very reasonably, and seemed like a good spot for a one night stay. Some neighbors at a previous campground spoke highly of the Rustic Barn when I told them where I was headed.

We ended up staying a second night, partially because of the excellent hiking trails at the Mines of Spain in Dubuque, but mostly because of the Rustic Barn. I considered an additional couple nights, but reluctantly decided to get on with our journey.

Everything was in it placed and worked. Showers and restrooms were cleaned and well maintained.  Sites are a combination of cement pad and crushed gravel. Hookups are a little inconveniently placed, but not a concern. There's a very large grassy area for dog-walking - always a concern for me as my dog is older and has the need to go frequently.

The owners are very nice and friendly, seeming to always stop and chat with folks as they go about their daily chores. And as an added "nice touch" they were currently placing Halloween themed decorations around the park.

Quiet, unassuming, a pace to catch your breath. I'm prompted to write a review because rarely do "value" and "quality" appear together in such a friendly combination

Great sites, clean restrooms and showers, super owners We will definitely be back. Only drawback was a little highway noise when the wind was out of the south.

Their Passion is Unmistakable!

It’s clear that the owners really care about their campground and their guests. Our site was level, and there was plenty of grass all around the campsite.

The owners would frequently drive the campground in their ATV and were quick with a wave and a “Hello!”.

We only stayed one night as this was a weekend getaway with out the kids, but we will definitely return.

5 stars all the way.

I wish i could give them more than 5 stars. This place is amazing. Beautifully kept, gravel roads and site are well maintained. Every site has a concrete patio on it. Its real quiet, no rowdy or loud sites. Everybody was very respectful. The owners were the nicest couple i have ever met at a campground. The husband would make his rounds for trash or dropping off firewood and he would stop and talk for a while, like we had know each other for years. The sunsets will draw you in and the hospitality will make you wanna stay. There are some amazing caves at a state park near by and not to mention all the things to do in Dubuque

Wisconsin Country

We stayed here to visit friends in rural Wisconsin. This is a wonderful location for just relaxing or doing things in Dubuque. The views are pastoral...rolling Wisconsin bluffs and farms. We stayed in site 25 which was on an end, had great views, a concrete patio with table and chairs, and was level. Not all sites had the patio nor were level. There is road noise from the highway which is a few (3) blocks away but after the first night we didn’t notice it as much. Shower house was immaculate with large hard stalled showers/changing room. Nice rec room with TV, games, books, soft seating, pinball, ping pong, and pool table. Outdoor games set-up on the grass like Cornhole, croquet, etc. The store had firewood, ice, but grocery type items were very limited.

A little slice of heaven

What a picturesque campground! With rolling hills of Wisconsin farmland surrounding you, you can't beat the view. This is an extremely well maintained park with large pull thru sites, level sites with plenty of room, free wifi, and some of the cleanest bath/shower houses you'll find anywhere. The staff is very friendly. One of our favorite places in the southwest Wisconsin area.

Pretty

This is a pretty spot and it was a nice campground overall. We checked in and something that was not common to us is that they charge per tent per night. We camp with two tents so this was kind of inconvenient for us. There were only two tent sites but they did have picnic tables and fire rings. There was a large grassy spot behind us that just lit up with fire flies at dusk. Being from Colorado, this was a wonderful sight for my kids. The staff was slightly odd. They kept telling us that if weather got bad they would come get us and move us to the barn but we are quite used to riding out storms in our tents. We also took a little issue with the fact that we were trying to rest in our tents and my kids were outside in the site and a very large commercial lawn mower went through our site and close enough to splatter my tent with grass clippings. It was very loud and seemed to go on forever since they had to mow around our things in our site. If they had just waited until we left, the next day, they could have mowed with out obstacle and not disturbed our resting. There was a small store and a game room. The barn was available for bad weather. The bathrooms were immaculate and the showers were nice. Overall, comfortable but the mowing dropped their rating.
