Strangers

We were staying right in front of the river which was a beautiful view. Showers have great water pressure and easy to get hot water when needed. Only problem was the homeless people using the bathrooms. I had collected twigs and some random guy came out of the woods freaking me out. I had issues staying by my tent by myself while my partner was out but having a dog was a plus. I would be careful with leaving stuff out because random things would happen at night. People would drive by our site multiple times throughout the day, it made us uneasy. The host was very nice and attentive but we are right next to a busy highway with a casino right around the corner so like I said, random things would happen. Very little to no shade for the tents in front of the river, definitely recommend staying at the other side of the road for tents.

Nice Campround on the River

Campground with electric only. Our site did not have shade so it got pretty warm. Bathrooms were a decent walk from us but a great cheap stay as we were passing through.

Pretty spot, but one big issue

Miller River is a good urban campground, as it is tucked away from the city but still within 5 minutes of downtown. Its location on the river is very nice, and the tent sites are set apart from the RV area, which I appreciated. Upon check-in, the workers were friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are clean and fine. And it is inexpensive, at about$15 a night for a tent site. Now to the negatives. Unfortunately, most of what we found negative is out of the control of the campground itself; it's simply the location. Ambient noise includes auto traffic of speeding cars coming over the nearby highway bridge, and loud semi-trucks that are air-braking as they come into town. Also, multiple trains rumbled by the campground across the river, many blowing their horns repeatedly as they passed at all hours of the night. Finally, and somewhat hilariously, there is a greyhound dog racetrack within a few hundred feet of the tent sites. It's mostly unnoticeable until you hear the dogs. When we stayed there the dogs were let out early in the morning, around 7 am, into a big open fenced area. They all barked and whined and yelped together, a giant pack of hounds disturbing our sleep after a night of the aforementioned noise. Overall, this campground could be a good choice if noise does not bother you much, or if you have good earplugs. Avoid it probably if you are sensitive to noise or a light sleeper.

Great view of the river

The park is a little hard to find as the signs are not obvious and the road circles the greyhound track and a casino hotel.  Many of the sites have a riverview and a second line of sites back up to the woods.  There was evidence of wet conditions and the park had recently added some gravel to the drives for some of the sites to make them less muddy.  The first sites have concrete drives and share electrical hookups with sites that back in from the road opposite.  There are firepits and picnic tables at each site.  The sites that are closer to the pavilions are smaller and on the river.  There is a playground also at that end.  A bathroom with flush toilets and at least one shower is near the entrance.  The water was steaming hot.

Relaxing and quiet with river/bridge views

We paid 15$ online to reserve a spot for the night but I’m not sure if a different part of the park was free or not as advertised here. But it was very quiet and our spot (55) was right on the river and a bit tucked in the woods which was great and had an amazing view of the bridge. It had a fire pit but is rustic so no bathrooms near by. We were the only ones on that side of the campground (full map online) which was very peaceful. Be careful of spots 56,57,58 because they can flood. Overall good stay for us!

Right on the river. Wonderful views. Good fishing spot I guess.

We've been camping in our van for months now. We stayed here, visiting family. Had no reservation but it was not a problem. I like places that have RV and tents separated. The RV side was to the left and looked pretty full. The tent side was on a small loop with only 10-12 sites. We initially were the only ones there. All the sites had fire pits but one site, either 51 or 52 had that pit too close to the bushes so it wasn't really useable. We were right on the river bank with a good view of the bridge. The traffic was far enough away that we didn't notice it much. Lots of birds. Hiking trail near by that led us to the Riverwalk. Hot showers.Friendly staff. The only odd thing about this place was our site. We picked what we thought was a large site at the end of the loop, site 56. Another camper came in, a local who knew the secret I guess, went in behind us to a site that was not well marked. It's a much better site further away from everyone and into the trees. Our site must have been a good fishing spot. The whole place was nearly empty but a few fisherman parked right next to us during the day. We thought it was a bit rude but rolled with it. Checked the availability before you go. We were told this place floods on occasion and has to close. (It's that close to the river!)
