Homestead Campground sits in the wooded lowlands of Wyalusing State Park, organized into four loops named for cardinal directions. Three of those loops terminate in cul-de-sacs, which tend to see less drive-through traffic than the fourth, a full circle with a central green space and a water source at its center. Sites run $23 to $40 per night, with electric hookups available, and pets are permitted throughout.
The campground's tree cover is consistent across loops, with forest understory growth providing reasonable screening between sites. A small number of sites sit close to the road with little buffer, but most have some degree of separation from neighbors. Reviewers note that site proximity between loops can be an issue in busier seasons, so noise levels depend partly on who is camped nearby. Bugs are a recurring mention in reviews. Come prepared.
Homestead is the wooded counterpart to Wisconsin Ridge Campground, which sits on the bluffs with open sightlines over the Wisconsin and Mississippi River valleys but tighter site spacing and exposure to wind. Homestead trades those views for shade and spacing. The park's trail network covers the bluffs and forests, and a canoe trail with backwater access to the Mississippi gives paddlers a reason to bring a boat. The shower and restroom block, built in 2019, draws consistent praise: "all were clean, large and well-lit," notes Josh F. Campers wanting a different setup can look at the Outdoor Group Camp within the park.
