      Hueston Woods State Park Campground

it used to be so much better

the campground is seriously in need of some tlc and they have gotten rid of the deer exhibit and replaced it with a dog park which is sad because my family spent a few hours each trip just petting and feeding the deer before. also the nature center isn’t what it used to be. bathrooms are always nasty. it’s sad because this used to be our go to campground.

      Clifty Falls State Park Campground

      Don't Recommend Non-Electric Sites

Out of all places I've camped in Indiana, this is, by far, the worst. Please note that this is for the non-electric sites. Reasons for the low rating:

      • the firewood that they sell to you is complete crap. It's so wet and damp that you can't burn it. We have had to take every single batch back we've purchased cause it's so bad. They don't do refunds.
      • The playground is so close to most campsites in the non-electric section. I'd recommend getting as far away as possible as the screams of children echo like birds flying throughout the campground.
      • Not the park's fault, but raccoons are horrible here. I'm talking, "walk up to your campfire as you're sitting next to it and steal food that's on the burner" bad. Lol.

We were lucky enough to find a campsite (#118) very far away from the playground which was surrounded by grasses that separated the campsites surrounding you which was very nice. Again, the raccoons were horrible though.

      Oak Creek Campground

      Easy place to stop

Nice campground with several pull through sites for big rigs. Pool and new dog park with a very nice play area for the kids. We prefer site 18 which offers nice privacy and os next to a stream.

      Great stay

Very friendly staff. The bathrooms having regular working toilets and showers. The bathrooms are very nice. There is a pool, volleyball courts and a dog park. It is hot in June, so bring a canopy if your RV doesn’t have one.

      Hueston Woods State Park Campground

      Great for anyone!

We love camping here! Whether it's tent camping, group camping, RV, cabin, or lodge accommodations they can fill all your needs. Very large park with playgrounds, fishing, swimming, creek access, dog park, archery practice area or walk over to the damn. The bathrooms could use a little better cleaning but all in all it's a great park! We come often and camp at least once a year! Highly recommended.

      Hueston Woods State Park Campground

      Amazing.

I’ve been camping here every summer since I was a child. There is always a lot to do for all age groups. They’ve also added in a dog park which is perfect for my fur babies! There’s plenty of trails for hiking and adventuring. Archery range, plenty of spots to fish and keep everyone occupied! Love this campground and will continue to come back for many years to come!

      Batesville KOA

THE WORST KOA I'VE EVER STAYED AT

Bathrooms = -5 Showers = -100 Staff = 5 Campsites = 2. Could they make the sites any smaller? Camper next to you is right on top of you. Landscaping = 4 - just not kept up well at all. Dog Park = one, and it's a loooooooooooong ways away. I travel full-time. Stay at KOA's all the time. This is, by far, THE WORST KOA I have been to and, no matter what, I won't be back. Seriously bad. There's even a $10 charge if you leave the KOA and then try to return . What? I have to pay to get back to my things? It looks nice with the ponds... but truth be told, THE WORST KOA EVER - it's a dump compared to what is expected from a KOA. Uhg.

      Florence, IN…Nice campground

Park is well maintained. Nice sized pool and very clean pool area. Park has a playground and dog park. Lots of space between campers with cement patio, fire pit and picnic table and lots of trees. We had no issue pulling in our 42’ 5th wheel. We came in after hours and our name with sits number was posted on the door and plenty of maps for the park. Nice layout! You could barely hear a train off in the distance which sounded cozy. Campground is about 30 min from Madison and Ohio River is across the street. Only con- trash cans are like in a whole different country and hard to get too. Would stay again!!!!!

      Thousand Trails Indian Lakes

      Large Campground

This was my first time visiting. It’s a very large campground with lots of amenities. I’ve noticed a lot of bad reviews on other platforms about potholes and mud, and although some of that is true, it seems to be mostly on the KOA side. The only major potholes I have encountered are upon entering and exiting near the ranger station. The lot is gravel and very large for my small rig which was cool. It was nice and level, so I didn’t have to do much. I have great service here with my T-Mobile 5g internet as well as my starlink. Because it’s off season, there isn’t a lot going on, but I’m ok with that. I also appreciated the dog park that was well maintained to give my pup some freedom to roam off leash. I would definitely recommend.

Update: The only negative things I encountered while staying at this campground were the loud golf carts with their music blasting until late at night on the weekends. It seems like the same person would just cruise up and down the roads all evening. The other thing that wasn’t really an issue for me (due to being off season) were the limited amount of washers/dryers for the size of the campground. I can’t imagine what it’s like during peak season.

    Guide to Milan

Camping near Milan, Indiana offers access to several recreational areas surrounding Brookville Lake and Versailles State Park. Located in southeast Indiana at approximately 860 feet elevation, this region experiences humid summers with temperatures typically reaching the mid-80s and mild winters with occasional snow. Most campgrounds in the area remain open from April through October, with limited year-round options available.

    What to do

Hiking trails with varied terrain: At Clifty Falls State Park Campground, trails offer everything from easy walks to challenging hikes. "Trail 6 to 5, then down to 2, and back up to 5, finishing on Trail 4 at Hoffman Falls" provides "lots to see on that hike and not very crowded," according to one camper.

Boating and fishing: Brookville Lake offers extensive water recreation. "Lots of fun for the family, huge lake for boating," notes one visitor. The lake extends for several miles with multiple no-wake zones for peaceful fishing.

Swimming options: During summer months, campers can enjoy water activities at various locations. "They have a fenced in area for small children with a baby pool and sprinkler. They do sell concessions at the pool as well," mentions a camper about Versailles State Park Campground.

    What campers like

Level campsites: Finding a flat site can be crucial for comfortable camping. At Thousand Trails Indian Lakes, "the lot is gravel and very level for my small rig which was cool. It was nice and level, so I didn't have to do much," reports a recent visitor.

Clean facilities: Many campgrounds maintain quality bathhouses. "The bathhouse was really, really nice. Very clean and spacious," mentions a reviewer at Clifty Falls, though they noted a temporary hot water issue during their stay.

Seasonal activities: Follow The River RV Resort receives praise for its year-round amenities. "There is pool access, a tree for shade at every lot, a picnic table at every lot and water access as well," one camper notes. Most campgrounds in the region offer special programming during summer and fall weekends.

    What you should know

Site selection matters: At Big Bone Lick State Historic Site Campground, "sites are a bit small (in length) and ours (49) was very un-level, and worst of all had no shade at all. Even with our awning out it was scorching until 730pm."

Limited full hookup availability: Many campgrounds offer electric and water but limited sewer connections. "Full hook ups are limited, but we were happy with a power site," notes a Brookville Lake visitor.

Quiet hours enforcement varies: Campground noise policies differ across locations. At Indian Lakes Campground, some noted issues with "loud golf carts with their music blasting until late at night on the weekends."

    Tips for camping with families

Playground proximity: When booking, check site locations relative to play areas. At Brookville Lake, one camper mentioned it's "hard to get a site next to the playground - it's kinda out of the way."

Multiple swimming options: Miami Whitewater Forest Campground offers diverse water recreation. "Nice lake with rental boats or bring your own kayak/canoe," and a visitor noted the campground has "great views of playground for most sites near there."

Educational opportunities: Several parks offer learning experiences. "This is a small and simple park with a lot of opportunities to learn. There are a lot of little trails that criss cross each other and a lot of informational signs and a little museum," writes a visitor about Big Bone Lick State Historic Site.

    Tips from RVers

Road conditions: Some campgrounds have maintenance issues. At Indian Lakes, a camper noted "the condition of the roads throughout the campground. The owners seem to be slacking off on maintenance and therefore, there's a lot of mud and potholes."

Dump station planning: For those without full hookups, timing matters. At Delaware Campground near Milan, the sanitary dump station provides essential services for RVers without sewer connections at their sites.

Dog friendly campgrounds near Milan: For those traveling with pets, most campgrounds welcome dogs with standard leash requirements. Follow The River RV Resort provides "dedicated pet waste stations throughout the grounds and a designated pet exercise area" where pets can exercise safely.
