      Clifty Falls State Park Campground

      Don't Recommend Non-Electric Sites

Out of all places I've camped in Indiana, this is, by far, the worst. Please note that this is for the non-electric sites. Reasons for the low rating:

      • the firewood that they sell to you is complete crap. It's so wet and damp that you can't burn it. We have had to take every single batch back we've purchased cause it's so bad. They don't do refunds.
      • The playground is so close to most campsites in the non-electric section. I'd recommend getting as far away as possible as the screams of children echo like birds flying throughout the campground.
      • Not the park's fault, but raccoons are horrible here. I'm talking, "walk up to your campfire as you're sitting next to it and steal food that's on the burner" bad. Lol.

We were lucky enough to find a campsite (#118) very far away from the playground which was surrounded by grasses that separated the campsites surrounding you which was very nice. Again, the raccoons were horrible though.

      A.J. Jolly Park & Campground

      AJ Jolly campground

Expensive for what it has to offer. At 48.00 bucks a night yes they do have WIFI in the RV section. They do have concrete pads. It’s a shame they are worthless they are to small to park the average RV on an are on the wrong side of most rigs unless you pull in 1/2 the sites the electric is on the wrong side. The sites are gravel and not level the rest rooms are new and nice. The horse stalks are very nice. If you have a large horse trailer type camper your screwed the sites are small so that only leaves you with the RV sites that are a few 100 feet away from the stables If you want to walk threw the drainage ditch add about 300 ft if you don’t want to walk threw the muck. It’s a shame when they paved the entry road they didn’t spend a little more. “Grant money “ or tax money an do it properly. The main play ground is extremely nice. About 1/3 Mile walk. They do have a small playground in the rv section. For horses again they have a nice setup for big RVs it Sux they have a dump station. Situated in between the entry road to the Fkatwood rv section and equestrian area The main lake is nice you can rent kayaks canoes. Or use your own boat. The boat ramp is nice the other end of the lake at the flat wood rv section. Is t really a lake it’s a back water shallow mud hole depending on the time of the year. Mosquitoes the size of jet fighters. Will rather eat you alive or carry you off. “Lol sorry could t resist “ it gets bad the park is clean and well maintained Except for the camp sites

      Versailles State Park Campground

Large campsites, pool ,lake activities, others

Versailles State Park is the second largest state park in Indiana. Within the last year with the coordination of the Indiana Trail Riders Association, DNR and volunteers, primitive, overnight, horse camping was added to the park. Several more miles of horse trails were opened and a mountain bike trail section was also added to the park. Plans are in place for more mountain biking trails and a fourty-five site electric and water Horsemans camp, to be completed in phases. This is a very clean park, large pool, hiking and lake activities available. Bald eagles have been spotted in the park along with local wildlife. The local restaurants are family owned and offer large portions if casual dinning is in store, with homemade desserts.

      Hueston Woods State Park Campground

Great place to stay, just watch your reservation

Hueston Wood, a real gem. The park is about 3000 acres with a beautiful sailing / fishing lake. There is a beautiful lodge and golf course, archery range, and plenty of hiking paths and equestrian paths.

The biggest issue for us was the description of the site at C36 was nothing like the description. We approached the staff in the office and they expressed no concern in helping us. One camping family left due to the office staff's attitude.

Ok, now for the positive! We met one of the volunteers, Gary, who was able to find us a site to hold our 34 foot motorhome. He made our July 4th weekend, couldn't have been more accomodating.

Sites have 30A electric and there is plenty of potable water available around the campground, just not at the site. Each site has a fire ring and a picnic table. At the A and B loop there was plenty of space around the site to spread out.

The dump station is fairly new and can accommodate 2 RV's. Though most site are grass, some have gravel, but the A loop sites are full hookup and concrete or paved (but not all flat). When setting reservation and with an RV over 20ft, shoot for A or B loop.

The grounds are just beautiful, hiking trails great but not all marked well. A place we will return.

      Whitewater Memorial State Park Campground

      Awesome campground for Kayakers

Whitewater Memorial State Park is located close to Liberty Indiana and is our favorite between the two major parks on Brookville Lake. It has water access to both Brookville and Whitewater lakes. The campground facilities are newly updated with two large shower/bath houses. A few of the campsites are buddy sites that allow you to camp with a friend and share the same area. Many fishermen and kayakers frequent the lake trails.

      Clifty Falls State Park Campground

      Clifty falls state park

The sites suck not level the shower is new but sucks push. It to die 25 seconds of water that’s like being pissed on the electric situation is poor 30 amp old not maintained the park was put in about 1919 the trails use to be awesome. Now the use to be well groomed trails that were bordered by hand built stone walls have been replaced by half assed wooden decks with steps that were built by Hellen Keller “ridiculous “ They have a 9.00 entry fee on top of the camping fee they cut the grass every day we were there Turing the park into a scalped dust bowel. Again “ridiculous “ they had a few sites that we’re supposed to be persons with disabilities friendly. Their is No sell service. Every one was wondering around looking for service. “ I though that was funny” No WiFi That didn’t bother us. But several folks around us were miffed camp store. Was a joke and was only open maybe Friday Saturday and Sunday. Possibly Maybe. “What ever that means “ the dump station. Is a cluster F#%*¥ was a tight fit for the 3 campers in front of us. Who had 28 ft to 35 ft campers. Just a dirt pull off close to trees with a tight turn to exit. Only one side could be used at a time. Or you would block the campground Exit. So not very well planned out

    Guide to Milan

Horseback riding trails and camping facilities abound near Milan, Indiana. The area sits at an elevation of approximately 981 feet in the rolling hills of southeastern Indiana, where moderate rainfall and distinct seasonal changes create varied camping conditions throughout the year. Equestrian camping areas feature specialized amenities including dedicated hitching posts, water troughs, and direct access to bridle paths.

    What to Do

Fishing opportunities: At Whitewater Memorial State Park Campground, anglers enjoy both Brookville and Whitewater lakes. "Whitewater Memorial State Park is located close to Liberty Indiana and is our favorite between the two major parks on Brookville Lake. It has water access to both Brookville and Whitewater lakes," notes Brandie B.

Hiking trails: Trails vary from easy to challenging across the region's parks. At Clifty Falls State Park Campground, visitors find diverse terrain. "The best hike, in my opinion, was Trail 6 to 5, then down to 2, and back up to 5, finishing on Trail 4 at Hoffman Falls. Lots to see on that hike and not very crowded," shares Kaley A.

Kayaking and canoeing: Lakes near Milan provide calm waters for paddling. "Awesome fishing lake with tons of good spots to fish. We love spending our weekends here," reports Kimberly A. about Whitewater Memorial State Park.

    What Campers Like

Spacious sites: Horse campgrounds near Milan, Indiana offer generous spacing between sites. Brady R. notes about the equestrian area at Whitewater Memorial: "I wish all campsites were like these - very, very spread out! Totally makes sense given that you have large horse trailers/campers and also horses at each site."

Modern facilities: Many parks feature updated amenities. At Hueston Woods State Park Campground, "The Bathhouse is super nice and clean," according to recent visitors, while Whitewater Memorial campers appreciate that "the campground facilities are newly updated with two large shower/bath houses."

Seasonal events: Parks host special weekend activities throughout the year. Jessie W. notes, "We love the Halloween festivities! It is so fun to see all the costumes and the decorations all over the campground. We plan to make it an annual tradition!"

    What You Should Know

Wildlife awareness: Keep food secure when camping in this region. John F. warns, "Watch out for the raccoons they are pretty aggressive and were all over our campsite. Clearly they are used to getting handouts, so keep your foodstuffs in your vehicle or well secured."

Site selection considerations: Research specific sites before booking. At Versailles State Park Campground, Burns G. advises, "Great place and want to come back in the summer to enjoy the lake and pool. We had a nice level, shaded campground. Some sites are not level at all. So be sure to read up on the site you want before you book it."

Cell service variability: Connectivity differs between parks. Kyle notes at Clifty Falls, "Zero cellular or wifi service so that could be good or bad. The Inn does have WiFi if you have to have it but seems to be more for guests than general park population."

    Tips for Camping with Families

Pool amenities: Several parks offer swimming facilities for children. Jessie W. describes Versailles State Park: "The pool is nice, and the kids love the slides and diving board. They also have a fenced in area for small children with a baby pool and sprinkler."

Playgrounds: A.J. Jolly Park & Campground offers play areas for children. Jeffrey D. mentions, "The main play ground is extremely nice. About 1/3 Mile walk. They do have a small playground in the rv section."

Biking options: Family-friendly biking trails are available at multiple parks. Shannon C. shares about Versailles: "One of our staple campgrounds. Has great bike trails & walking trails. Clean bathrooms."

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: RVers should prepare for uneven terrain. At Winton Woods Campground, Mike H. advises, "Full-hookups have little to no shade. Sites are pretty close together and small, but standard for a county Park. The electric sites are nice. Reasonable amount of shade in most."

Dump station logistics: Plan for potential wait times when departing. Jessie W. cautions about Versailles, "I would also note that there is only one dump station for the three campgrounds so there can be quite the line when trying to get out of there on a Sunday afternoon."

Hookup placement: At equestrian campgrounds, utility placement may require extra equipment. Jeffrey D. explains, "The power for site 7 is on the wrong side so your going to need an extension possibly. All the premium sites have 30/50 amp hook ups and water."
