    Lava Hot Springs West KOA

    Great KOA

Great pull-through and the back-in spots are beautiful. Kid, pet friendly, walking distance to food and fun. One of the best KOA’s we have stayed at.

    North Bingham County Park

Nice Quiet Park - $45/night for Non Resident

The park is nice and clean, appears to be recently paved or resurfaced.  The spots are relatively level. Restrooms are clean and nice shower is large.  The 12 pull through sites have 20/30/50 Amp outlets and potable water and each has its own picnic table.  The dump station is just past the sites there is a seprate potable water fill 50' from the dump station which has its own hoses and water for flushing tanks.

There are two areas of grass designated as tent sites with in ground fire rings and there is one shared elevated charcoal grill.

As of July 2025 the nightly rate is $25/night for Bingham County Residents and $45/night for Non-Residents.  There are envelopes for payment (cash or check only) at the front gate and inside the envelope is an information sheet with the bathroom codes.

    Yellowstone Lakeside RV Park

Friendly owner and nice place to stop a short distance from Idaho Falls

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and having been fairly remote for a while, needed to hit a few big box stores to stock up in things. The CG is undergoing and expansion and is the area we stayed in, which got rather sloppy when it rained. We were in site W-5 for 2 days in late July. This area is all gravel and only a few of the sites were complete enough to be open. The sites all looked very level, but are open. All of the pull-through sites, existing and expansion, are oriented such that every other pair pull through in opposite directions and share utilities, which results in slide-outs only being a few feet apart in most cases. The new back-in sites along the periphery are roomier in between. There is a little road noise from US-20, but not excessive. AT&T coverage good, with 4 Bars of LTE with service up to 14.5 MB/s. They have a tower right across the highway. The CG WiFi was decent with speeds up to 1.8 MB/s, but generally in the 100s of MB/s. We were able to get DISH coverage on all three western satellites at our site. There were 13 OTA channels to be had with our fixed omni antenna.

    Pocatello KOA

    Good for a quick stay

Campsites are a little close with no privacy and there are no sewer connections at the individual sites. There are two dump sites on the backside of the store. Pretty much gravel throughout with some grass at the smaller sites. Amenities: kids playground area with grass, a small fenced dog park, horseshoes, picnic table at each site (no fire pits at the pull through sites). Inside the store: pool table, table tennis, and a foosball table. Overall a good clean campsite to hold you over for a day or two.

    Lava Hot Springs East KOA

    Nice KOA-Poor RV Sites Design

The KOA is just off US-30, so easy to find. Our GPS and Waze did not have the exact address, but you can easily see the KOA sign coming in from the east. We were traveling with another couple and there were basically two marked check-in spaces. You have to pay attention to where you position your rig so you don't block office car parking. We had reserved a premium K-9 site and were assigned site 102 at check-in. Site 102 was 1 of 3 premium sites next to the office. The problem with site 102 was 1) there was a truck parked there with no owner in sight, 2) trees that would have scraped the top of our 5th wheel, and 3) a very difficult and tight back-in swing on this 90-degree site with our 40' rig. You need to be an expert backer, or very lucky, to clear the trees at the entrance of this site if you're in a larger rig. Sites 100 and 101 do not have these same obstacles and with the river view, are arguably the best sites in the park. We went back into the office to request a different site and were assigned a non K-9 premium back-in site, 200, in their new area. We would have enjoyed the original site as it does have a nice river view. Sites were under construction in the 200 area and each site is highlighted by 7-inch high and 6-inch wide cement curbs. Whoever designed much of this CG did not understand RVs. It was challenging to back into your site as there are also cement barriers to protect the sewer hookups off the curbs in front of sites on the adjacent pull-through sites. We almost tore off a snap pad getting too close to a curb as the curbs are not sloped to prevent this and based on the markings, a lot of tires have fallen victim to these curbs. Also, we had to be very careful going up and down our steps as you have the curb there as well. While we were getting into our site, a 45’ class A was trying to get into pull-through site 221 across from us. Just trying to make the turn onto this row, he ran his rear tires up on the curb around the shower/laundry facility. He still had his toad attached and had to disconnect it to avoid damaging his vehicle. Hopefully, the management of this park will mark that site for shorter rigs as he also had problems clearing the curbs when departing his site. Their free Wifi was decent. We got 3 bars on Verizon and no issues getting a shot to the north sky for Starlink as there are no mature trees in this new area. There are plenty of other CG options in the area, so we will not stay here again. The main positive of this CG is the staff. They were friendly and accommodating when we requested to change sites. They also credited us the diffrence in cost since we didn't get the K-9 site, without us asking for the credit.

    Jefferson County Lake

Most beautiful RV campground near Rexburg

We just discovered this campground because we drove by it. I have no idea why it never comes up when you do a Google search for campgrounds near Rexburg. We are so glad we found it. It's by far the most beautiful RV campground in the whole area. Each spot has a concrete pad, a fire ring and a picnic table. It has water and electric but no sewer or dump station. However, Lakeside RV a block away has a dump station for $5 and there is a Sinclair nearby that also has a dump station for $5 and they refill propane tanks and I hear they have the best prices around. It's 10 minutes south of Rexburg. You can stay as long as you want but you can only book for 6 nights in a row in one spot. Then you can book another 6 nights at a different spot. We stayed for 11 nights. They have pit toilets that are surprisingly clean and don't smell, but no shower or laundry. We stayed in sites 8 and 12 and both were wonderful with shade trees and a beautiful view. I loved waking up in the morning to see a beautiful lake out my bedroom window. The lake is actually an aquafer (underground spring) so it's super clear and clean unlike most lakes. One side of the lake has a beach and my kids and I swam in the lake and they especially loved the big slide in the middle of the lake. We floated with tubes and noodles. They have kayaks and paddleboats to rent for $15 an hour. There is a walking path around the campground and a lovely little river that travels alongside the walking path. Each year in September they have Buddies Not Bullies event on the beach. We happened to be her for the event. They had lots of old cars and cool cars and you can vote on your favorites. My boys loved the burnout contest. They had music, a free bounce house for kids, food trucks, free HotWheels for kids, and the radio station was here.  My kids thought it was fun. The campground closes for the winter in October but they leave the walking trail open. $30 a night was cheaper than any other place around and this campground is far more beautiful than any other one in the area. Definitely will be back.

    Wakeside Lake RV Park

    Wonderful One night stay

It was a great location. Our site was large and shaded by beautiful mature trees. Very helpful and friendly staff/owners. We had a minor issue when we got there after hours. We tested the number provided and they were super quick to get back to us and help us problem solve. The only thing I didn’t love was that we had to share an electrical juncture box with our neighbors. So there was one 50 amp and one 30 amp on the box. They had already plugged into the 30 which we needed also. Neither of us had a dog bone attachment. I think maybe that just needs to be specified when booking and offering full hookups. We got the situation sorted because of kind neighbors and helpful staff. I would definitely stay again though. My kids loved playing in the lake.

    Portneuf Bend Campground

    So so

Pros: The site is well maintained. Only a few sites had muddy areas due to big rig tires but all were level with green grass. Toilets were well kept. It is close to town.

Cons: trains run 24/7 and are very loud. Not a lot of space between sites so you hear neighbors. View is okay but nothing great.
