    Wolf Flats Recreation Area

Nice little stopover for a road trip

This was a nice little spot to car camp, located on a rock road. Got there just before sunset and was able to snag a cute little spot along the river. Fair warning, some spots have are easier to get into than others, so just keep that in mind during busy season, depending on your vehicle. There were less bugs than I expected, but temps were dropping and there was rain in the forecast. Some spots have metal fire rings, while others only have a rock ring. It was very peaceful listening to the river while thunder rumbled gently off in the distance. Beautiful area with some nice hikes nearby, but most of the trails were closed during my stay.

    Lava Campground

    Such a great park!

It’s a bit further outside of downtown, but easily walkable through the paths and KOA. It’s affordable, spacious and clean. They have a lot of spots and several not spots were being developed when we were there. It was quiet at night and a great little escape!

    Lava Campground

    Great Campground

We enjoyed our experience at Lava Campground. We liked how close it was to the town of Lava Hot Springs. We also liked the playground for our kids and using the showers.

    Yellowstone Lakeside RV Park

    Quick Stop

Great place to stop. Arrived around 8:00 PM and we were greeted by the camp host. Big sites, insulated and heated water outlets. The bathrooms are very clean. Hot water in tub/showers lasted a long time.

    Indian Rocks - Dispersed Camping

    Too close to Hwy

Disappointed. There is constant noise from I-15, so close you can see cars and semis passing by, non stop. I found a spot next to some bushes that gave an illusion of privacy so I stayed overnight (was already 9:30pm). I like peace, quiet, and solitude, ideally near forests, even if staying for one night only, so this location is just not for me. Pretty views of nearby hills though. Would I stay again? Maybe. It's so so much better than an overnight spent at a rest stop. And the gas station nearby has shower! It's also super clean, and has baked food that actually looks and smells delicious!!

How to find it: indeed, the pin marks the turn onto the road that will take you to the dispersed camping area, it's not the location itself (I tried to update it on this listing). On Google maps aim at Indian Rocks Historical Site.
