Best Campgrounds near Firth, ID

Eastern Idaho offers a variety of camping options near Firth, ranging from established campgrounds to dispersed sites along the Snake River. North Bingham County Park provides RV and tent sites with water and electric hookups, while Snake River Dispersed offers more primitive camping experiences for those seeking solitude. The region includes both public and private campgrounds, with several facilities offering cabin rentals and glamping accommodations within a 30-minute drive of Firth.

Road conditions and campground access vary significantly by season, with most facilities operating from May through September. Many campgrounds like North Bingham County Park close during winter months. "This was our first attempt to find a place to land in the Idaho Falls Area. Located about 10 miles south of Idaho Falls, it is a relatively new 12-unit RV Park," noted one visitor about North Bingham County Park. Travelers should check seasonal availability, as weather conditions can impact access, particularly at higher elevations. Snake River sites typically remain accessible year-round, though amenities may be limited during colder months.

Waterfront camping areas receive consistently positive reviews, particularly along the Snake River where several campgrounds offer direct water access. Sites near Idaho Falls provide convenient access to urban amenities while maintaining a natural setting. The area features a mix of private RV parks with full hookups and more rustic public campgrounds with basic facilities. According to one camper at Juniper County Park, "We were pleasantly surprised by this gem of a campground just outside Idaho Falls, which we used for one night on our trip through the area. The bathrooms were clean and showers were a nice touch." Campgrounds closer to Idaho Falls tend to have better cell service and more amenities, while those in more remote locations offer greater privacy and scenic views of the surrounding landscape.

    Goodenough Creek Campground

    Quiet creek side free camping

We arrived here around 8:30pm after the sun set so we couldn’t really see much. Had the doors and windows open all night, wonderful breeze, quiet except sounds of nature. Woke up to an amazing sunrise and sound of the creek. Just lovely and it’s Free!

    Idaho Falls Luxury RV Park

    They thought of everything

Large spaces with plenty of room between. Clean and paved. Only complaint is super loud railroad tracks, but they give you ear plugs lol.

    Riverside Park Campground

    Riverfront spot

This was perfect. I got a spot right on the bank of the Snake River. It has all the basics.. a picnic table, fire ring, most sites also have bear boxes for food storage; there are vault toilets, firewood for sale, and potable water available.

$20/ night for sites, $40 for some sites that are double tables/parking.

I didn’t have any neighbors, and I would guess maybe only a quarter of the sites were occupied. In the evening it did get a little annoying with lots of moth‘s flying everywhere. They seem to like to land on my white truck and I had to cover my food while I cooked, and kept the tent closed. Not a big deal, but they were noticeable.

While not this campground per se I thought it’s worth mentioning that just across the river there are also a large number of free dispersed campsites, some right on the river, some along the road as you travel away from the river. To get to the bridge you still take the Riverside Campground exit off the highway below the damn. Pass the campground cross the bridge and you’ll see them on your right for about a mile. I didn’t stay there. It looks like they have firings and nothing else but they’re free and plentiful.

    Indian Rocks - Dispersed Camping

    Nice & Easy Access

This place is right off the highway so it made it a super easy spot to get to for a quick overnight stay. There were other campers and everyone was quiet and respectful, the spaces are spread out a nice distance so that we aren't right next to our neighbors. You can hear highway noise but it wasn't too bad, and the view is a pretty rolling hills.

    Lava Campground

    Good spot

This campground is right off the highway so there is some noise but not bad. Well run campground with clean bathrooms and showers. Fun playground for kids and lots of room to run around. Right down the road of town and the hot springs.

    Portneuf Bend Campground

    Hard to sleep

Campground is well maintained with lots of mature trees.

Signage could have been better to navigate to sites but the campground isn’t too big so you can make do.

The trains. All night long. They were loud and constant. Between 1am and 5am there were many that were every 20-30 minutes. Perhaps a site further away from the tracks would be better but we were closest to them and it was awful. (For the record, we live near train tracks and don’t mind the distant sound of trains through the night at home.) Obviously not the campgrounds fault but sleeping was rough.

    South Tourist Park Campground

    Bare but decent, unexpected price

The other reviews are accurate! Only amenities are bathrooms (pretty clean) and water filling stations. The price for one night was $40 though! Not sure when they made that change but I wouldn’t say it’s quite worth that given proximity to highways and trains.

    Wakeside Lake RV Park

    Great overnight stop

We actually stopped here for 3 nights. We were at the grand Tetons and had racked up some laundry and needed to chill for a couple of days before heading to Glacier. The sites here are very spacious and mostly level. They are gravel. The trees in most sites are very mature and great for shade. We were in site 27 and it’s close to the laundry and bathhouse. If you want shade make sure not to get the first few sites towards the front as they don’t have as much shade. There are a couple of grassy areas to walk dogs at the front. Full hook up was also nice and even though no cable we had several channels come in. Easy access to HWY 20 but the road noise wasn’t really noticeable at all. Catch and release pond and rent poles for $5
