Lava Hot Springs Spa Motel & RV Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reservations are available at this 15-site RV park sitting directly on the main street of Lava Hot Springs, with full hookups (electric, water, and sewer) running $40–$50 per night. The layout places sites around the perimeter of a gravel lot, each with a concrete patio pad and tree cover for shade. Sites facing the Portneuf River, including spots 6 and 10, put campers within earshot of moving water. The entrance requires attention: a small gravel road runs to the right side of the motel, then bears left. Do not take the gravel split to the right, as multiple reviewers flag it as a problematic route.

The draw here is proximity. The hot spring pools are directly across the street, accessible on foot in under a minute. A trail at the back of the property follows the river to a natural hot spring entry point in the water. In summer, the river runs a rapid-filled 15-minute float with a shuttle return. Restaurants, shops, and a historic museum are all within walking distance. Sites are close together, and crowding is a recurring theme in reviews, so campers who prefer space between neighbors may want to consider that before booking.

Facilities are functional but limited. WiFi has been reported as unreliable. There are no dedicated shower or restroom facilities on site, which is a meaningful gap for campers not in self-contained rigs. Pets are allowed. "Located very conveniently to the river and most of the activities in Lava Hot Springs," notes Bill B., which captures why most campers choose it over other campgrounds around Lava Hot Springs. Nearby alternatives include Lava Hot Springs West KOA and Mary's Campground if amenities or elbow room matter more than walkability.

Nightly Rates

Just called for camper trailer pad prices for the fall, they are no longer $40-60/night.  I was quoted $100-120/night.

Great place to relax

This RV spot is a real gem. Located very conveniently to the river and most of the activities in lava Hot Springs. We were only going to stay for two nights, but now we have stayed a full week. It is so fun to watch the Rafters float down the river and to sleep by the sounds of the water. The office staff was so very friendly and helpful. It was a real joy to stay here. We will be sure to stay again. The next time we are in this part of Idaho.

Close to the action

The campground is hidden behind the Motel, on a small patch of land. There is a fireplace, potable water, sewer hook up. And 30 amp electric hookup. There is no shower or toilet facilities. It was fun to sit and watch the river go by. Along with the people coming down the river on inflatable rafts.

Great in town location near everything

The sites are very close to each other but the location in town next to the river, resturaunts and the hot springs pools is the reason to stay here. The river is not a lazy river float but an amazing short rapid filled 15 min rip through the towns river. There is a shuttle to bring you back to the drop in to do it over and over again or a short walk.

Basically a gravel lot with 15 sites

Location, location, location is about it. I stayed one night and moved to another campground close by. No real showers or restrooms. If you stay here the entrance is a small gravel road to the right side of the motel that goes off to the left. Please, Please, DON'T take the gravel road that splits off to the right or you will be in trouble due to S 2nd E entrance from N 3rd AV alley way

Great Location

We stayed here for 4 days/3 nights in October.   The location is directly across the street from the hot spring pools.   Our spot #6 was on the river.  We walked across the street to the hot spring pools and a park where in the summer you can tube the river.  At the back of the RV park is a trail you can walk along the  river and will come to a place where you can enter the river right into a hot spring.   The small 15 space campground is right on main street and you can walk to a large number of sites, restaurants, shops, historic museum and buildings and a small market.  All the spaces are full hook up and have a concrete patio pad and trees for shade.   If you need to charge solar the space in front of each spot has full sun.  There is also a path near the hot springs pools that follows the river and is paved.

Listen to the creek...

We choose this site because it is directly across the street from the hotspring pools. Our campsite, 10, was right beside the creek. The temps were below freezing but they have frost free spigots. Wifi was non existent. To get to the hotspring pools we walked behind the motel portion of the property were people had walked their dogs without cleaning up. There are other campgrounds in town but the location to the pools and the creek are the best part of this campground.

Simple spot for RVs

This spot for mostly RVs was a no thrills place for people who want to spend most of their time out of the campground or hanging out in their RVs.  The site is set up with full RV hookups around the perimeter of a large gravel parking lot area.  There is more RV sites a little higher up and further east.

There also looked like they had small apartments for rent for the day kind of like an Airbnb.  We weren'table to see the insides of these apartments but they were unfinished on the outside.  There are hotsprings all around Lava and there are plenty of restaurants and small touristy shops along the main street
