Waking up to a clear, spring-fed lake outside the window is a reliable draw at Jefferson County Lake, a county-run campground about ten minutes south of Rexburg along Highway 20. The lake is fed by an underground aquifer, which keeps the water notably clear. Sites include concrete pads, fire rings, and picnic tables, and the campground runs water and electric hookups to each RV site, with a 40-foot length limit. No dump station is on-site, though Yellowstone Lakeside RV Park and Campground nearby offers one for a small fee.
Lake access is central to the experience here. Swimmers, kayakers, and paddleboaters all use the lake, which has a beach on one side along with a water slide. A paved path circles the lake and works for jogging or cycling. A small creek runs alongside part of the walking route. Reviewers consistently point out that sites 1 through 15 are farthest from the highway, which matters because the campground sits directly alongside Highway 20, and road noise is noticeable, particularly at sites 39, 40, 43, 44, 47, and 48, which back up to the road.
The campground is open May through October 1st and takes online reservations. Stays are capped at six consecutive nights per site, though campers can book a second site afterward. Pit toilets are on-site and, as christopher G. notes, the campground was "clean and maintained." No showers or laundry are available. At $30 per night with hookups, it draws a local crowd on weekends, so weekday visits tend to be less congested. Campers who want to make a longer stay of the area can also look into campgrounds near Rigby for additional options in Jefferson County.
