The Portneuf River runs directly through the campground. Anglers and tubers both make use of it, and a rental company on site provides tubes, side-by-sides, and other outdoor equipment. A small lake is also nearby, though fish sightings there have been limited based on visitor accounts. Shade is modest: there are some trees, but not enough canopy to block afternoon sun across the whole property.
Noise is a consistent factor here. Train traffic runs around the clock, with multiple trains per hour reported during overnight hours, particularly between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sites are close together, which means neighbor noise carries. Lance H. notes "not a lot of space between sites so you hear neighbors." Bathrooms receive consistent praise for cleanliness, and camp hosts are described as attentive. Portneuf Bend Campground offers a country camping experience with plenty of room for fun and games. At the campground, day or night, enjoy the soothing sounds of the Portneuf River flowing close to your camp site.
Float the river, take our ATVs to the trail, try the zip line, moped through Lava, enjoy hiking and biking and be sure to visit the world famous natural hot pools.
