Several RV parks near Hollywood, Florida provide full hookup sites with water, electric, and sewer connections. Grice's RV Park in Hollywood offers sites for big rigs with 50-amp service, while Paradise Island RV Resort in Fort Lauderdale features concrete pads and pull-through sites. Aztec RV Resort in Margate caters exclusively to Class A motorhomes with spacious sites, many featuring private tiki huts. Kozy Kampers RV Park in Fort Lauderdale accommodates both large and small RVs with full hookups. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and will do whatever they can to make you satisfied."

Most RV parks in the Hollywood area remain open year-round due to Florida's mild winter climate, though advance reservations become essential during peak snowbird season from January through March. Traffic congestion near I-95 affects access to several parks, particularly during rush hours. Cell service is generally strong throughout the region, with most parks reporting 3-4 bars on major carriers. While some parks like Aztec RV Resort offer premium amenities including multiple pools and private lots, others provide more basic facilities at lower price points. Pet policies vary significantly between properties, with breed and size restrictions common at several parks. Dump stations are available at most locations, though Embassy RV Park in Hallandale receives poor reviews for its dump station placement, with one camper noting it requires "backing into position or driving down a narrow path and making three tight turns."

West Palm Beach-Lion Country Safari KOA

      5 summer months

So, we were here a bit long term in the summer. Staying here in the summer is as bad as being in Vermont in winter. You need a reason to be there and sadly we did.
First off, waking up to lions roaring and bonobos scream in the morning was freaking amazing! I will treasure this memory for the rest of my life. The facilities are aging but are clean. The ladies in the front office were awesome and accommodating. We purchased a new RV while there and they had no issues moving us and making sure we were good with moving up from a 30 Amp to a 50 Amp site. At $99/night it is expensive and by not having the facilities of a KOA Holiday and being so far away from the Highway as a KOA Journey I can't give it 5 stars but, it is damn close.

      Larry & Penny Thompson Park

Quiet and Peaceful Campground, trees, greenery and option for long term

This is a very nice campground which is part of the Miami-Dade County park system.  It is close to the Encore Everglades park (about 4 miles) so we stayed here after we departed.  The campground is divided into pods and each pod has about 15 or so sites.  We were in pod 4 site 20 (420 lol).  We booked this camp with the intent to stay for a month or longer as my husband had an opportunity to Captain boats in Miami.

The park was very quiet.  Most of the campers were retirees, a few families with kids, but we were there in early January.  The grounds are nicely maintained with lots of places to walk and open space with trees.  They don't allow dogs off-leash and although it is adjacent to the rest of the Larry & Penny park, dogs are not even allowed in the main park, at all.  We did however find a few dog parks within four miles or so which were nice.

They have a very nice pool which was open daily Wed- Sunday 11am - 5pm.  It was raining and rather dreary during our stay so we didn't use the pool.  They have a nice Clubhouse and it looked okay with tables, chairs, books, puzzles, but again very quiet.  Not many activities except for a few and we didn't stay long enough to participate.  After a week, we decided to make moves back home to Lake Tahoe.  It was unseasonably cold, raining so no boat work and not an ideal spot for the dogs.  They don't have WiFi and since we were planning a longer stay, purchased the Starlink system since I work remote during the winter.  Starlink worked great, but costs $500+ to get started and then $120 or so a month.  If you are looking for an affordable long term/monthly stay, it is great.  The rates were $850 a month for full hook-ups.  They had last minute space available, too.

If you are in the area, check out the Miami Zoo.  We were there when they had the "Zoo Lights" a super fun evening event.  They have other events at the Zoo and lots to do nearby.  You are closer to town than Everglades Encore, but still close to the agricultural area.  I recommend but not as fun or as many activities as some other places.

      John Prince Park Campground

County Park Campground you will want to visit

This Palm Beach County campground and park offers you a lot of things to do. Miles of biking paths, fishing and paddling on Lake Osborne, some hiking trails, fitness pavilion and walking trail... all this with short and long term rv/tent camping spots ONLY 5 miles from the beach. The campground is well maintained, with paved sites for any size vehicle. Short term camping spots have the best views and most are situated on the lake. It is an older campground so the bathrooms are not state of the art but they are clean and functional. This location is also close to 1-95. Our video gives you more info and you can always go to our website to connect with our Facebook/instagram and YouTube platforms. www.travylcouple.com

      Southern Comfort RV Resort

      Best Park in Florida City

This park is located right off Route 1 in Florida City. For the area this is a large park. I believe over 150 sites. The sites are decent in size. The park fills up quickly come the winter time with the “ Snow Birds” but the park overall is wonderful. There is a bar/Tiki Hut on premise and a big swimming pool open year round. This is a pet friendly park but with a breed and size restriction, so call ahead if you have Fido with you.

      Paradise Island RV Resort

      Crowded

It's great to be in Fort Lauderdale, so close to activities. RV park is old, poorly kept, and crowded. Mostly long-term campers who were very friendly. Vehicles parked onto narrow black top roads. Dead leaves blown to the side but not picked up. Peeling paint in showers. Friendly staff to our faces, but overheard them being unkind when they didn't know we could hear.

      Yacht Haven Park & Marina

Clean, but tight, with a rookie staff

We had high hopes for this campground, as it is a few miles west of our house, and could be a convenient layover when traveling through town. We tried to make a reservation online, but there was some issue with the site, so we called. We explained that we were just overnighting, and didn’t care about water views or amenities. We also told them we were in a 45 foot fifth wheel. The process to make our reservation took 5 phone calls. Every call was like starting from scratch. On the fifth call, which was actually a callback from them, the agent told my wife that luckily, she was able to get us a water site. My wife explained that we didn’t care about a view, and just wanted easy access for our 45’ toy hauler. They went back and forth for a few minutes and finally settled on site 12. They were able to accommodate us for the night for the low price of $120, including tax and a $25 amenity fee.

We were caught in a few traffic jams on the way in, and ended up arriving half an hour after sunset. We were greeted by an armed security guard who showed us on a map where site 110 (our new waterfront site) was. I asked whether I would be able to turn around at the loop at the end of the road, as the site was angled to back in as you would leave rather than enter. He said maybe. I got to the site and realized it would be impossible to back in without dragging my 20,000 pound camper through their grass, so I went to the end of the street to turn around. There wasn’t adequate room to turn my truck around, let alone my camper, so we backed down the street, and proceeded to install some new ruts in the landscape around site 110.

In between the time we made our reservation, and arriving, we received at least 4 phone calls from the campground. One was asking us to text a picture of our rig to a random New York phone number, so they could show their security guy what our camper would look like. We thought this was odd. All of the rest, were to ask about the length of or rig. At one point, my wife asked the woman on the phone if she was sure our rig would fit, and what the actual length of the site was. The woman assured her that the site was “max 50 A-M-P.” My wife said she wasn’t asking about 50 amp electric service, but the length of our site. The women assured her that it was 50 A-M-P.

Turns out we should have been a little more concerned with the electric service, as they had given us a pull in site for a bus, and we were unable to hook up to sewer, and had to run our electric cable and water hose under the camper. Luckily we were able to reach.

Will we stay again? I really hope not. Even though it’s literally 10 minutes west of our house, and by far the most convenient location for us to stay, the park is too tight, and the staff too poorly trained to be tolerable. The spot was pretty, and the location for someone who is doing the tourist thing would be great. Shopping, the beach, and great restaurants are all nearby. We were swapping a few things between the camper and our house, so the location was good for us, but I will probably search for a better spot further from home next time we pass through.

    Guide to Hollywood

RV campgrounds in Hollywood, Florida offer varying levels of accessibility to the beach, with most being within a 10-20 minute drive of Atlantic shorelines. The area experiences mild winters with daytime temperatures averaging 75-80°F between November and March, making it popular with seasonal campers. Concrete pads are common at many Hollywood-area parks, though quality and spacing between sites can vary significantly.

    What to do

Water activities at John U. Lloyd Beach State Park: Located about 15 minutes from Paradise Island RV Resort, this park offers swimming, fishing, and kayaking opportunities. "Campground in the city, great guest services, friendly staff. Near grocery store, and everything! Full hookup sites, spots are big and concrete roads," notes one camper about the nearby RV accommodations.

Visit Flamingo Gardens: This 60-acre botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary is about 20 minutes from Hollywood and features more than 3,000 species of plants. A camper at Kozy Kampers RV Park shared that it was a "Good park to stay at" with convenient access to local attractions like this.

Explore Everglades National Park: The entrance is approximately 45 minutes from Encore Miami Everglades campground. A visitor noted, "We stopped here for 2 nights while exploring The Everglades on our way to Key West. Close to Miami Everglades is a fruit stand called Robert Is Here. Don't miss it!"

    What campers like

Convenient urban location: Many campers appreciate the accessibility to city amenities. "We spent 14 months here sheltering from Covid, and it was extremely convenient to all of the Fort Lauderdale area. We never had a single issue during our stay," mentioned a long-term guest at Paradise Island RV Resort.

Clean facilities: Del Raton RV Park receives positive feedback for cleanliness. "The facilities are clean, the guests are nice and quiet. Now that i live more north, We hope to be back again and make this an annual adventure!" shared one camper who stayed there.

Swimming pools: Several parks maintain pools for guest use. At Encore Miami Everglades, a reviewer observed, "They have a really nice big pool, shuffleboard, putt putt golf, arcade and walking trail. It's off the beaten path but worth the drive."

Private lots with amenities: Higher-end parks offer premium spaces. At Aztec RV Resort, "the lots were spacious and incredibly well maintained. I believe all the lots are privately owned or at least for sale so you are renting someone's spot. Ours happened to have a massive tiki hut."

    What you should know

Mixed quality of sites: Not all campgrounds maintain consistent standards. At Breezy Hill RV Resort, one camper reported, "This place has seen better days and the hook ups are not in the best locations. We were there during the pandemic and many of the Canadian regulars were not there."

Language barriers at some parks: Cultural diversity can affect social interactions. "Very large population of french speaking Canadians. Most don't/won't speak english. Hard to make any friends if you don't speak french," noted a camper at Breezy Hill.

Infrastructure reliability concerns: Water and electrical systems can be problematic. A Del Raton guest reported, "Water pressure is sub-par. I changed my filter and still had issues."

Noise levels vary: Urban campgrounds often experience traffic noise. A camper at Grice's RV Park observed it was a "Very noisy campground" being "very close to very noisy road."

    Tips for camping with families

Check pool restrictions: Some campgrounds limit pool access. At Encore Miami Everglades, a visitor noted, "It's a huge pool but they only let 20 in at a time."

Consider campground layout for kids: Space constraints can affect family comfort. A Paradise Island visitor mentioned getting "a nice easy spot to back in and get out easily" which can be important when traveling with children.

Test new equipment close to home: For families new to camping, local options provide safety nets. "Myself, my husband, and our 2 year old son recently started camping as a family. We originally chose Miami Everglades RV Resort as a site to test our new equipment. It is close to home, so we figured if something went wrong, we'd just pack up and come home."

    Tips from RVers

Site selection matters: When possible, request specific sites. At Paradise Island, one RVer shared, "We were originally assigned a campsite right next to another group who was taking up a lot of space so the office staff graciously worked with us and let us choose our own site."

Watch for size restrictions: Some parks cater only to specific RV types. Aztec RV Resort "only allow class A" motorhomes according to visitors.

Plan for traffic: Rush hours can complicate travel. "Miami and the keys from this location easily," noted one camper, but others mentioned traffic congestion affecting travel times.

Water system precautions: Have filtration equipment available. At one park, a visitor noted having to "undertake a costly and time-consuming process of disinfecting our motorhome's water system" after encountering water quality issues.
