From January 1st - April 30th, the maximum length of stay is 10 days. From May 1st through December 31st, the maximum length of say is 14 days.

When you start booking your camping trip to Florida, set your sights first on the Trail Lakes Campground. This legendary campground has been in operation for over fifty years under the guidance of authentic and traditional Gladesmen.

 

When you book your stay, you'll have the option to rent any number of domiciles depending on what kind of experience you are looking to have. Do you want to sleep under the thatched roofs of a real chickee hut? Do you want to sleep in a comfortable, environment controlled rustic cabin? Maybe you want to set up your own tent. No matter what you are looking to accomplish, we are available to help you out in your booking so that you get placed in your ideal accommodation.

Our tent sites in particular provide adequate room for 2 small tents, or two large family tents. If you happen to find that you need a group site so that all members of your party can be situated in one location, we do offer those as well. 

Trail Lakes Campground

Pinecrest Campground offers four group campsites that provide a nice, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. This is a wonderful location for a group to start their south Florida adventure. Recreation Pinecrest offers access to recreational activities such as paddling, hiking, birding, fishing, and hunting with proper licensure. Facilities This campground is for primitive group use camping only. Picnic tables and fire rings are available at each site. There are no covered picnic areas, toilets, hookups, or water. Minimal shade is provided by surrounding trees. Natural Features Situated alongside Loop Road the campground is located in a clearing and surrounded by pine and oak trees. Nearby Attractions Located on historic Loop Road this campground is close to the Miccosukee Cultural Center, Oasis Visitor Center, and Shark Valley. ADA Access: N

Bear Island is an ideal campground for campers looking to get away. Perfectly situated in Big Cypress National Preserve, campers can enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature while experiencing the diverse Florida landscape. Natural Features: This campground is located in an old Florida pine forest. There is abundant wildlife freely roaming the area. Recreation: Bear Island offers a multitude of recreation opportunities such as hiking, fishing, hunting, birding, and off-road vehicle trails (permit required). Facilities: This is a primitive campground with no fresh water. Vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings with grills are available. There is no trash service within the campground, so please take your trash with you. Nearby Attractions: This is a remote campground with the nearest town approximately 35 miles away.

Big Cypress National Preserve consists of 729,000 acres of backcountry with several miles of multi-use trails to explore. Backcountry camping allows you to immerse yourself in the beauty and challenge of the Preserve's wild side. By carrying everything you need to survive on your back or in your off-road vehicle, you can discover a world beyond where the pavement ends.
 
A Backcountry Camping Permit is required for all backcountry camping. Permits are free and can be filled out online and printed. Additionally, they are located at every backcountry trailhead and can be found at both visitor centers. The permits take only a few minutes to complete.
