Nobles Primitive Camp — Big Cypress National Preserve

Gravel roads lead to this hike-in primitive camping area within Big Cypress National Preserve Addition, where the paved access transitions to dirt surfaces before reaching the marshlnd-adjacent site. The National Park Service manages this free dispersed camping spot, which allows campfires and welcomes pets alongside basic picnic tables.

One reviewer noted the remote "old Florida" character and confirmed two-wheel-drive accessibility, though campers should prepare for the single-access route. The preserve setting provides a backcountry experience for those willing to hike in their gear, and CCC Primitive Campground sits nearby for comparison. Pack everything needed for primitive conditions.

Primitive

Great remote drive out to the primitive site “old florida” the paved road turns to dirt/gravel. One way in one way out. It is located next to marsh land. Luckily the access road was drivable with two wheel drive.

Frequently Asked Questions

What amenities are available at Nobles Road RV Park?

Nobles Primitive Camp is a basic wilderness camping area, not a developed RV park. It offers minimal to no amenities, staying true to its primitive designation. The site provides an authentic off-grid camping experience in the natural environment of Big Cypress. Campers should come fully self-sufficient with all necessary supplies including water, food, and waste disposal options. There are no hookups, facilities, or services at the site.

Where can I find dispersed camping spots in Big Cypress National Preserve?

Big Cypress National Preserve offers several primitive camping options, including Nobles Primitive Camp. These sites are located in remote areas, often accessible via dirt or gravel roads that branch off from paved main routes. The preserve has designated primitive camping areas that provide a true wilderness experience adjacent to marshlands and natural Florida landscapes. For the most current information on available dispersed camping locations, check with the Big Cypress National Preserve visitor center before your trip.

Do I need permits for camping in Big Cypress National Preserve?

Yes, permits are required for camping at primitive sites like Nobles Camp in Big Cypress National Preserve. Permits help the preserve management monitor usage and protect the natural environment. Contact the Big Cypress National Preserve visitor center or check the official National Park Service website to obtain the necessary permits before your trip. Some permits may be available online while others might require in-person acquisition. The permitting system helps maintain the wilderness character of these special areas.

What are the RV size restrictions at Nobles Road RV Park?

Nobles Primitive Camp is not designed as an RV park and has significant access limitations. The access road transitions from paved to dirt/gravel and is narrow with only one way in and out. While the road may be navigable with two-wheel drive vehicles in good conditions, larger RVs would likely find access challenging or impossible. This primitive camping area is better suited for smaller vehicles, truck campers, or tent camping. Those with RVs should consider the developed campgrounds elsewhere in Big Cypress National Preserve.
