The Last Resort RV Park & Campground

Beautiful views and a relaxing environment.

The Last Resort is a lovely RV Park and campground on the Blanco River off Highway 84 between Chama, New Mexico and Pagosa Springs, Colorado. There are full RV hook ups in the loop and partial hook up by the river. The Bunk House is a small cabin with a queen bed and electricity. Many great tent camping sites. There is a nice Bathhouse with a full kitchen, bathrooms with showers and a coin operated washer/dryer. They are open year round, free wifi and pets welcome. There is a small store with ice, sodas, snacks, fishing tackle, RV supplies, and toiletries.

This is our 3rd summer at the Last Resort. It's a very laid back place with 2 playgrounds and plenty of activities for kids - horse shoes, volleyball, tether ball, etc. They have a nice 4th of July celebration, potluck dinners and camp fires. There are often horses (and a goat) on the property and plenty of space to take a nice walk. This year, we saw a lot of Canada geese and there are also chickens and ducks. We really love watching the many hummingbirds and hanging out by the river. Lots of campers like to fish or float down the river on inner tubes.

Well maintained, beautiful and friendly hosts make for a wonderful place to stay.

    Gorgeous Place

Absolutely love the RV Resort! Very friendly and helpful staff! The internet here is outstanding. I only have one complaint....this was our first time here and our GPS took us down a washboard dirt road called Deep Creek Road...wish they had warned us to stay on 149 through Creede!

    Great place. Beautiful. Quiet. Friendly.

Fantastic RV park with full hookups, good Wi-Fi, two bars of Verizon, beautiful location, and excellent management. Nice amenities that are well maintained. Daily trash pickup at every site. I’m estimating that about 30% of the sites are occupied by guests that stay for six months every year and return each season. These people are nice, have very nice rigs, and even personally landscape their areas to look very nice. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. Great restaurant about five miles down the road and several places nearby to get necessities including a small onsite store. A+++!

    East Fork Campground

    All you need

We arrived at East Fork late in the evening, just in time to catch a beautiful sunset. Each site is equipped with RV hookups, picnic tables and a small grill - There are 2 restrooms on either side of the grounds as well. From our site (#11) you could hear the gushing river down below. The host was really nice and led us to a nearby waterfall and overlook the next morning as well! San Juan NF is gorgeous!!

Blue Spruce RV Park & Cabins

    Not my favorite

Good location, excellent WiFi, good staff! Full hookups and trees/ shade. Lots of options to stay—cabins, RVs, etc.

After having traveled to many RV parks over the past few months there were some things I really disliked. People were walking through our site constantly and in droves.. between our rig and tow vehicle, in front of our RV door, behind our rv with all our hookups and equipment. I hated the lack of privacy and the fear that folks would step on our hooks ups, etc. even when I was outside stretching and doing yoga, folks piled on through, it was uncomfortable and a very weird culture. We kept asking folks to walk around, but it literally happened every few minutes with adults, children, groups.. we eventually gave up. That weird taboo-ish rv culture continued in many aspects throughout our stay.

The bathrooms had two shower stalls and showers for each sex—nothing for non-binary folks. This did not meet the needs of the entire camp ground—and they were closed as the office was closed (all night into the morning). Bathrooms are not ADA accessible nor for anyone who struggles with stairs.

We used laundry facilities which were nice and refilled on propane. Both easy processes!

Each site had a fire ring, picnic table and concrete slab. No Verizon service at all.

A gorgeous nearby hike, see videos!

South Fork Lodge & RV Park

Gravel pit, no bathroom, no amenities, ATV heavy

This is been one of my least favorite spots to stay thus far. This park has no bathrooms, no laundry, no fire pits… Nothing but a picnic table. It is fully gravel, sites weren’t level, and very loud early mornings with all of the ATV activity. I think it is far too expensive for the stay. The staff is nice, and it’s family owned—but everything else, including the location pretty much sucked. I really think it’s worth it to find another park around the area to stay.

We had full hook ups. WiFi didn’t work and no Phone service.

    On the Pagosa River

This campground is located right on the Pagosa river. There is also a pond located on the property that you can paddleboard on with paddle boats.

The campground offers full hook-up to basic campgrounds. There are a few campsites located right on the river.

The campground also has warm showers, laundry, book exchange, and a TV. There's also a game room with old-school video games and an air hockey table.

The campground is located 2miles from downtown Pagosa Springs.

    Cell service great

This small campground, stretches along the banks of the South Fork of the Rio Grande River among mature shade trees. Many sites are adjacent to the river. US Highway 160 is very close by so will have some traffic noise. Cool Sunshine RV Park

    Downtown campground

Beautiful campground with level sites. Come prepared, it is in the middle of downtown so a lot of traffic noise of loud cars racing down the road and it is right next to the railroad tracks. The train whistle is deafening and will rattle your teeth. 5 trains came by the one night, one as late as 10 pm. Campground is gated. Super friendly staff, We didn’t use or look at the showers and other facilities. Full hookups with great water pressure.

Rio Grande National Forest River Hill Campground

    Forested River Camping

Lovely small campground with lots of shady, generous campsites, some by the Little Squaw Creek and upper Rio Grande River, and others up next to rock bluffs. The site and facilities were very clean and the camp hosts extremely nice and well versed on this area of Rio Grande National Forest! No electric or sewer hookups, with community well water pumps, and restrooms. Fishing was really good, artificial lures only! Wildlife included elk, moose, bear, deer, chipmunks, rabbits, magpies, ravens, hummingbirds, swallows, and Spring flora were everywhere! Road to camps are rock/dirt, and not very RV friendly (lots of washboards and fallen rock), and if you're not good with heights, some of the road narrows with drop off sides and no railing/barriers. We were there in late May and the nights got down into the 20s, with some heavy wet snow that melted off the next day. Took a drive up past Lost Creek Campground to one of the high meadows and it was breathtaking! Did I mention the elevation of over 10,000 feet? There is a large forested area that has burned, but aspens and other new growth are coming back. Overall, this has been one of our favorite campgrounds. Some sites are reservable and the rest are FCFS. America the Beautiful and Golden Age Passes are accepted.

    Trujillo Meadows

    Spacious campground

This campground provided lots of space between sites. There are no hookups, but there are pit toilets, running water, picnic tables, and fire pits. You can fit larger RVs in the spaces on the upper loops of the campground. Ours is 28’ and there was probably 10-15 feet of extra space. The camp host was great and did a good job of keeping everything clean. If you need to dump your tanks in Chama, the Little Creel will let you dump in an empty RV space for $10.

    Small but nice RV park

Pagosa Cool Pines RV park is centrally located in Pagosa Springs Colorado. It's a small very well kept park with less then 30 spots. No tents or popup campers allowed.  Meet with the owner and he shared with me that the cell sevice and wifi were great and that he provides 40 channels of cable. Daily RV rental is in the mid $50s. It was a beautiful park was the owner aloud me to drive through.  Some hiking/walking trails on property.

    Elkhorn RV Resort

    Great spot in Lake City

This is our first visit to Lake City so I've nothing to compare it to, but I loved this RVPark. Linda was gracious and accommodating. Bathrooms were spotless AND warm. We are at tail end of season so the park was not full at all, but even if it had been there are tables and trees between each site keeping from feeling claustrophobic. We drove past the other RV Park in town - on Henson Creek - you are on the river, but also on the highway and it was packed in. Elk Horn is off the highway nestled against the mountain, and just 4 block walk to "down town" Lake City. Highly recommend this spot. Call to make reservations. Linda gets right back to you. We also stayed on one of the cabins to give kids more trailer room. You provide the top bedding, but there was a queen bed and a bunk (so 4 could sleep easy). No bathrooms in the cabin but your close to the bathrooms.

    Very peaceful, beautiful location

The Last Resort RV park  is hidden into a very peaceful valley. They are open year round and have River side spots for those under 26 feet long and some very large pull through spots with lots of space. No Verizon cell service and very poor Wifi.  If you truly enjoy your peace and quiet  this is the spot for you. Staff is very friendly.

Beautiful setting on Rio Grande River with walking trails and large RV spot

WE LOVED OUR TRIP TO THIS RV PARK.  NESTLED ON THE RIO GRANDE RIVER AND PLENTY OF LARGE COTTONWOOD TREES PROVIDING SHADE AND A REPRIEVE FROM THE WARM AFTERNOON SUN.  LESS THAN ONE MILE FROM DEL NORTE WITH SHOPS AND DELICIOUS MICRO BREWERY AND MICRO BAKERY (WHICH OPENED THE DAY WE ARRIVED).  HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FOR FAMILIES AND PETS.

PLAYGROUND FOR KIDS HAS A FUN ZIPLINE AND LOTS OF TRAILS TO WALK THE DOGS.

    New and convenient

Great RV park in east walking distance to DT Alamosa. We walked to coffee place in the mornings and farmers market Saturday. Great clubhouse with super clean bathrooms and showers, workout room, puzzles and couches. Little green for golf. Only reason it wasn’t a 5* is that you do hear road noise - we got lucky with the train and didn’t wake us, but as others said, is right on the tracks. Would definitely recommend if you are visiting the area.

    We love this place!

We love this place. Our family has been coming here over the years, and it's still a favorite. The pools are artesian hot springs. The pools are extremely kid friendly, and there are greenhouses with 21+ soaking and bar.

Camping is 20 bucks a night and you get half off camping when you camp here.

The camp sites are basic, but they have water, bathrooms, showers, laundry and such. Also RV park with plugins, dump and water.

they serve food, and they also allow you to bring your own food and to bring your dogs.

We get a weekend away for about 80 bucks for two nights and swimming, and we can bring our kids and dog....it's a winner!

They have a shop that sells items needed like bathing suits and sunscreen and treats and they also rent out toys and such.

    North Canyon Campground

    Good campground for lake access

We camped at Vallecito for a week in July of 2019. The water to the reservoir was pleasantly over capacity (a joy after a drought) but meant that the water line was well into the brush making swimming a challenge among the branches and driftwood that would tangle little feet. I saw signs that I assume were supposed to be at a beach, twenty feet out into the lake. I would imagine that this would be a great swimming hole when the lake was at a normal capacity.

The campground was typical for a forest service campground. There are vault toilets and the host comes around once per day. There is a dumpster. There is clean water.

The campground is almost entirely shaded by tall pines. There is a creek that trickles past some of the campsites (which makes for a pleasant sound when lying in the tent at night).

Noise travels over the water and through this area like it doesn't at many other campgrounds. While overall, I found the campground to be quiet and peaceful, neighbors arguing a few campgrounds down, or being rowdy by the fire, will keep the light sleeper awake at night.

There are many RV parks on the other side of the lake (about a 20-30 minute drive from North Canyon) where showers can be purchased for about $5. Call ahead. There is small store on the other side of the lake too, but it was closed when we went trough. There is a camp store in an RV park only a few miles away from North Canyon where a camper could likely purchases supplies. Bayfield has many amenities.

The campgrounds on the East side of Vallecito are all located on a very well maintained dirt road. If driving to the camp from Bayfield be sure to take a right before the dam. We camped in a large group of people, and most of them missed this turn. Trying to drive around the lake will create two problems. The first is the addition of an hour to your drive time. Secondly, a couple miles north of North Canyon Campground, the road ceases to be well maintained (this questionable area is not marked as a road on all maps and is likely seasonal). There is a dirt road that will connect the North to the East--however, but many vehicles and trailers are not recommended to pass through. To drive through it will look as though the traveller is going through at least two different, private campgrounds. They will pass a warning sign about the road conditions, and they will have to go up a steep grade and around a sharp corner. The dirt road is minimally maintained. Having said that, I arrived at Vallecito from the North after and 4 day wilderness trek in the Weminuche, so I wanted to investigate this stretch of dirt road.  I was able to pass through with my minivan (nicknamed VanJeep). Needless to say, it would be better to take the right before the dam!

    Teal Campground

    Campsite with a view

To be clear, there is no dump site for RVs, no market, no water hookup (water dispensing). It’s the view and yes, there are probably 5 primo spots and we did not get one but I still have a view of the incredible mountains. But after 1 night, someone cleared out of best spot and we reserved it right away (first come first serve ) A walk to the lake from any of the 16 sites is perhaps 3 minutes. Great site and Derek is best host ever. He runs it right.

    Cool Sunshine RV Park

    Great campground

We should have arrived and checked in by 3:30pm. But had a lack of gas issue. Passed up $5.90 stop. Has the range to go the 19 mile to next station for $4.78. But did not figure in the Frigging HEAD WIND, Went from 11 mpg to 3 and 4 mpg. Was 1.5 miles short. OnStar dispatch with in 5 minutes of our stop. 2.5 hr later back on Road. During down time call Cool Sunshine RV park to tell them we were still coming. Said sorry for our delay but gave us our spot no# C15, gate code to open gate. Had our welcome packet taped to office door with all others info about park. They said they were going to run my card for rest of our stay. Green Grass between and around park. Flat gravel roads and deep camp sites there are pull through down center of park. No pool. But two horse shoes puts, corn holes boards, some game called GA-GA pit. Like Dodge ball, but all in circle. Small finced dog park. Nice gate coded bathroom and showers. And Laundry room!
