Forest Road 504.1C sits within the Rio Grande National Forest about one mile from Creede, accessed via a moderately steep forest road with a tight squeeze partway up. This dispersed camping area occupies an open hillside with space for four to six individual camps, providing elevated views across the valley toward Lake City and down to the town of Creede below.
The access road presents some challenges but leads to a wide camping area that can accommodate multiple groups. Weekend visitors should expect increased activity from other campers and off-highway vehicles, though the area generally remains quiet aside from OHV traffic. Elevation brings cooler nighttime temperatures, with lows dropping into the 40s even during summer months.
