Grover Hot Springs State Park Campground

Nice campground, well maintained. Camp host was a great help for local recommendations for day trips and directions to a general store about 40min drive away. Toilets were well maintained and didn’t have an awful smell like most others. Would definitely stay here again. Short drive to the Trail of 100 Giants, sequoia grove with an easy path to walk and take pictures

The camp sites are nice and spread out from each other. Bathrooms are clean and stocked.

Sites are a hit or miss. Some are nice and flat and secluded, some are built with a slope and no privacy. Sites around the bathrooms smell pretty bad. We were about 50 yards away from the bathroom and if the wind shifted we could definitely smell it. Easy to book and get to the campsite, but a bit overpriced in my opinion.

This campsite was great. Completely secluded from the other sites. You’ll feel alone. We had both our dogs and never had to keep them on leash as the site site is pretty back from the road. We will come again but possibly stay in yurt.

It was a long windy drive up to the summit there’s a swim hole along the South Fork Tule River at the base of the mountain towards the lake in Porterville that has natural rock slides. The campsite has a huge meadow in the middle and beautiful views of trees. On the opposite side of the mountain from the lake it’s about a 45min. drive to the Sequoia National Forest.

Great place to camp. As well a great mixture of large trees and open meadows. Be sure to make reservations though.

This place is a must! We stopped by for 1 night on the way to Lake Tahoe! The views are amazing, I recommend to the waterfall hike (seemed a little longer than what it says) but so worth it! The next day we did the Hot Springs pool which was relaxing! There is a regular pool also. I believe it was 1.5 hours you get which is plenty! Also listen to instructions on not leaving anything in the back of your vehicles before bed!! We had a bear in the back of my truck! Wish I could have got a picture but it snorted and ran off lol

The hot springs were the draw. You must reserve online ahead of time. You get an hour and a half for $10. The site was $35. 

I had site 19 and stayed two nights. It was pretty full as expected. Nice and quiet except for a few screaming kids and barking dogs. 

Lots of squirrels, chipmunks and jays. 

My site was unique and be aware it is not ADA. I had a cast on and had to hike my stuff in a ways. Healthy I would’ve been fine but mobile issues it was a struggle. 

The hot springs are in fact hot! Even the pool is a very pleasing warmer temp. I loved the pool. There were harmless wood bees in the cubbies. They’re big and buzzy if you don’t like bugs. Also a ton of barn swallows chirping about. 

You rinse of outside with a warm shower then soak. 

I did the 3 time slot then the next day got the 5 slot. Both were great.

We loved our stay at this campground. It was beautiful, quite and the camp host was incredibly kind. My only complaint is that we were very far from any good hikes. My partner and I ended up driving 3hours to Sequoia NP so we could get a good one in. However, if you want a nice, lazy weekend in the forest, this is the spot for you!

Grover Hot Springs SP is one of those campgrounds that you dream of. The sites are large and spacious w/ good coverage, great camp hosts, incredible walks and trails and just the most gorgeous views. I got up early morning to do a hike around with my pup and we found the best sitting rock down by the creek and just sat there and listened to the water. The bear boxes and bathrooms were nice and clean and while there isn't cell service in the park or in Markleeville, you can get wifi in town. 

The hot springs are basically just one developed pool, so nothing spectacular but it's surrounded by a wonderful background of mountains and grassy prairie. 

I would definitely come back here!

Very nice campsite with views of meadow. Lots of trees allow for many shaded sites. Most sites allow for privacy. Can get loud at night but mostly a chill campsite. Campfires allowed during time of visit which was great! Freeman Creek Trailhead nearby, hike ~8mi RT and see George Bush Sequoia.

I love this camp ground! I have been here several times. It’s a great place to visit with family and friends. They keep the campgrounds and rooms clean. Showers are available you can purchase shower tokens, ice and firewood at the ranger station. It’s a quick drive or a short walk to the hot spring. Bear lockers at each site, ranger told us there was a bear that frequents the camp grounds, I have never seen it during our visits.

The sights are well spaced giving you plenty of room. There is a pretty easy hike to a waterfall which is big or small depending on the season. The hot springs is privately owned so it is extra but worth enjoying.

Good camping. Hiking with in a few minutes of the camp ground near where the Hot Springs facility is.

My family camps here every Labor Day weekend and has for 25+ years. This is a fun area with some cool hikes and a short walk to the hot springs pools. There is also a creek we take the little ones to catch crawdads in. Here’s to 25 more years!

The fields and trails that are near this campground are phenomenal. It's a 5.2 mile hike down to the Freeman Creek Giant Sequoia Grove. The bathrooms are not maintained outside of the season and watch out for black widows in the corners of the bathrooms.

There are yurts and information stations about the fields and local flora and fauna! The rangers are incredibly helpful and sweet!

There are two sections the upper and lower. The upper is more flat while the lower has some pretty good hills. The pads if you are pulling a trailer or in a RV are narrow. As are the roads. We watched several people come real close to dropping into a ditch, as we were yelling “Stop”.

The staff enforces rules about parking and won’t hesitate to call the ranger.

The showers are decent at $.50 for 5 minutes.

I have stayed at this campground in summer and winter and found it very pleasant both seasons. Very clean. Lots of space between sites, although not a lot of privacy. The hot springs can get very busy with over an hour wait to get in. Going at night has worked well for me to avoid the line.

This is an awesome State Park located in Markleeville, CA. It's in close proximity to Lake Tahoe, CA, and offers many great day hikes for all ability levels in the area. Cycling, both road and mountain, are a personal favorite of mine, and I see many fisherman in the Carson River.. May through early October have been my favorite times of year to go. However, I have camped there and used the hot springs in February.

This place was gorgeous. A big meadow. Lots of rocks and trees. Nice easy hike to a waterfall or to the additional cost clothing required hot springs. Close to a cute little town with minimal options but has a couple of eating choices and a general store.
