Beautiful and Fun

Lake to swim and boat in, waterfall short walk, General store with everything you can imagine and firewood, close by a town where you can eat out. Junior Ranger program with iron on badge that changes every year.

One of my favorites

So beautiful and right next to a creek with fish to play in. The views from the top of the mountain when driving to the ocean are the most beautiful views in the world! We saw a small bobcat at night driving to the campsite. A 30min drive to the ocean where you can surf or spy starfish. This is one of my favorite places to camp.

Pools!!

Sky Valley is an RV park. There are two locations in the park with mineral Pools and mineral hot tubs. There is a large grass area with ponds and black swans. This is a great location to relax by the the pool with a short drive to Palm Springs or Joshua tree. There are pickle ball courts, shuffle board, and horseshoe in the park.

Nice campsite close to major stores

Joshua tree is beautiful! This campsite is close to Yucca Valley so it’s close to stores and shops. It was super hot! I would prefer to camp further into the dessert so that there is less light pollution and bigger rocks to climb on.

Nice meadow and close to sequoia Trees

It was a long windy drive up to the summit there’s a swim hole along the South Fork Tule River at the base of the mountain towards the lake in Porterville that has natural rock slides. The campsite has a huge meadow in the middle and beautiful views of trees. On the opposite side of the mountain from the lake it’s about a 45min. drive to the Sequoia National Forest.

Beautiful Views

This campsite is right along the ocean on a cliff. It is a very popular campsite but they always have mandatory spots available for bike riders since it’s the halfway point between two cities. If you don’t have reservations they will let you camp there if there are open sites after 5PM, but you have to park and walk into the campsite. It’s really chilly at night and most of the day so be prepared with warm layers. If the campsite is full you can drive up the mountain on Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd and there are 2 campsites about 30min down the road where it’s warmer and beautiful as well next to a creek.

Cool Sightings

We drove up to the the other side of Lassen 30min away and saw the Sulphur Works hydrothermal vent. We also saw a small bear and deer there. The lake is a short 5 min drive or less away and the museum has a Junior Ranger program which is a book of neat educational tasks for the kids to complete so that they can show it to a ranger and get a Junior Ranger Badge. Breathtaking views of the forest and lots of neat rocks from the volcanoes. I would stay there again! There are things that you don’t see anywhere else there.

Beautiful and Conveniently Located

Beautiful campsite with River access and so close to the redwoods. At the River we saw snails, frogs, and a garden snake and we were able to swim. There’s drinkable water and super clean bathrooms with real toilets but very in touch with nature. The campsite we stayed at was far from other campsites so we had privacy. The temperature was prefect sweaters in the evening and morning and shorts and T-shirts in the middle of the day. I would stay there again and again! There’s a gas station 10 or so miles from the site that has fire wood and ice among other items and The Ocean is a short drive.
