Indian Creek Campground (CA) - TEMPORARILY CLOSED

Within BLM Land managed by the Sierra Front Field Office, Indian Creek Campground sits alongside a creek in a forested setting. The facility is currently closed temporarily. When operational, this established campground accommodates RVs up to 45 feet and offers both drive-in and walk-in access options, though reviewers note the access road can be rough.

The campground features ten sites arranged between tent-only walk-up areas and double spots designed for larger groups with multiple vehicles and trailers. Flush toilets, showers, and a dump station serve campers, while picnic tables and fire rings equip individual sites. Large trees provide substantial shade coverage throughout the camping areas. Alison notes it's a "quiet area close to the amenities of the Carson Valley."

Creek access supports fishing and kayaking activities, with reviewers mentioning both a swimming hole and nearby lakes. The forested terrain includes hiking trails that connect from the camping areas. Sites fill quickly during summer weekends, particularly with larger groups, though midweek visits tend to be less crowded. For additional options in the region, campers can explore places to camp around Markleeville.

Reservations help secure spots during peak periods. Firewood should be brought from outside sources, and the dump station operates for a fee.

Beautiful mountains

This place is beautiful with a lovely hiking trail and two lakes to boat or swim or fish.  The campground is clean and there are lots of trees for shade.  Fairly inexpensive and there is a dump site in the campground for a fee.

Small but great

This campground has a tent only loop (walk up to sites) and double spots for trailers. The double spot was nice as we had 3 cars and a trailer. We had plenty of room for our group. Clean bathrooms and nice showers. The lake is good for kayaking and fishing. . .not sure about swimming as it was a little low at the end of the season.

Total hidden gem

If you are lucky enough to get a spot at this campsite, you won't regret it. 10 sites in a gorgeous redwood forest alongside a small creek. There are hiking trails and a swimming hole. Fills up fast on weekends during the summer, often with large parties of people. But midweek or slightly off season it's very peaceful. Near to wineries and small towns if in need of amenities. Bring firewood.
