Castle Crags State Park Campground is a solid spot for anyone looking to camp year-round in Northern California. This place has a bit of everything: heated bathrooms, hot showers, and friendly rangers who keep the place in good shape. It's perfect for a quick overnight stay or a longer visit if you're into hiking and exploring.

The campground is near Castella, CA, and offers some pretty sweet views of Mt. Shasta and the Crags. If you’re into hiking, you’ll love the trails here. There’s a vista point that’s ADA accessible, giving you a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. Plus, there’s a short hike down to the Sacramento River, which is great for a quick dip or some fishing.

Each campsite comes with a picnic table, fire pit, and parking space. Some sites even have these cool old stone fireplaces, though they might need a bit of TLC. Just a heads-up, the sites closest to I-5 can be a bit noisy, but there are quieter spots further away from the freeway. Sites 39-63 are your best bet for some peace and quiet.

For those traveling with pets, you’re in luck—pets are allowed. And if you’re passing through on the Pacific Crest Trail, there’s a designated campsite just for you. The campground is also a popular stop for folks driving between Oregon and Washington.

If you need supplies, there’s a gas station and convenience store just a quarter-mile from the park entrance. And if you’re looking for more amenities, the town of Dunsmuir is only about five miles away with shops, restaurants, and a nice city park for the kids.

So, whether you’re in a tent or a small RV, Castle Crags State Park Campground is a great place to kick back and enjoy the outdoors.
