Jones Valley Inlet Shoreline Campground

Within Shasta National Forest, Jones Valley Inlet Shoreline Campground operates as a US Forest Service facility offering both drive-in and boat-in access year-round. This established campground sits close to Shasta Lake with approximately a dozen sites spread across forested terrain.

The campground provides water hookups for RVs along with standard amenities including restrooms and fire rings. Sites receive decent shade coverage from conifers, though past fire activity has reduced the original tree canopy in some areas. Kay C. notes the campground stays "very quiet" with clean bathrooms. Most sites are positioned across the road from direct water access, requiring campers to walk down the hill to reach the lake when water levels drop.

The proximity to Shasta Lake makes this location function well as a boat launching point, though site privacy remains limited due to the compact layout. Several nearby campgrounds including Jones Valley (Upper) and Jones Inlet Campground provide additional options in the immediate area. Double sites cost $35, and pets are welcome throughout the campground.

Cell service reaches the area, and the forest setting offers camping near Shasta National Forest for those exploring the broader region's recreational opportunities.

Many campers appreciated the quiet atmosphere and well-maintained sites with beautiful redwood shade coverage. Several guests reported concerns about pricing and limited privacy, though the peaceful setting near the lake remains appealing.

Not much privacy

There isn't a lot of privacy at this campground, but it's right next to the lake and makes for a good launching spot. There was a fire that clearly devastated the area - I'm sure there was once a lot of tree cover.

Expensive

$35 for a double site, when you aren’t even on the water is a little steep for a camp spot for me. close proximity to the lake but still not on the water. good shade coverage with beautiful redwoods and manzanita. when the water is low it may be a trek to the water. across the road and down the hill. average site. not my favorite coupled with the price.
